I’ve been in a lot of pain today with leg 2 - it seems to be bleeding a lot plus he did a bit across my bum/lower back and it is killing me! It hurts to sit back at all. I’ve been sneaking my codeine every 4 hours instead of 6 as otherwise I wouldn’t be able to cope. I think if it doesn’t settle tonight I’ll have to ask for stronger meds. Long story short I’ve eaten more than I should!!

Not2bObvious · 27/05/2021 17:25

I wouldn't be concerned about food intake right now gen, you need it to line your stomach for the painkillers. Sorry to hear you're so sore, I hope you have solpadol not just bog standard solpadeine.
Hope you enjoy the takeaway mrs, having EP's I'd like having bloody helpless toddlers without the cuteness.

Gensola · 27/05/2021 18:45

not it is solpadol, it says every 6 hours but I’m in agony if I wait that long so taking it every 4, stretching it to 5 if I can. I had surgery on my abdomen in 2014 and had the same drugs which were every 4 hours then so I hope I’m not ODing 👀

Thank you ! That is a perfect description Not Smile
Mrsmadevans · 27/05/2021 19:41

Gen can't you take Ibuprofen as well sweetheart?
Only you can take Paracetamol/Codeine (Solpadol) and Ibuprofen at the same time , my Mum takes them together morning and night for pain relief . Hope you feel better very soon lovely Flowers

Gensola · 27/05/2021 20:10

Ah i didn’t know that mrs will take some ibuprofen with it tonight to see if it helps me through.
I hobbled to postbox at end of the street to post a card to FIL who is back in hospital and also ordered him a box of chocolate cupcakes to be delivered tomorrow from the bakery near the hospital, he is 4 hours away so I can’t visit. I hope it cheers him up.

Hope takeaway is yum, you deserve it! DH made me mozzarella pasta bake, it was yum!

Not2bObvious · 27/05/2021 20:23

You can take anti inflammatorys alongside codeine/paracetamol gen, I've had solpadol (x 2 of the 500/16 I think) with naproxen (x1 - probably equivalent 400-600mg ibuprofen) which would be on the lines of ibuprofen. I'm thinking on the same lines as mrs (that's us backpain cocktail ladies eh?) They let babies have calpol & baby nurofen so I think it's ok.

On a side note though gen, agony mightn't be acceptable - I don't mean to worry you but gauge whether this is an acceptable level of pain for your procedure?

OP posts:
Gensola · 27/05/2021 22:33

not yes I’m worried about this especially as I have quite bad lower back pain, which doesn’t make sense as it wasn’t operated on. Unless it’s because I’m walking and standing funny or slept on it badly but it is very painful not just a bit achey. DH says I should try to sleep and see how it is tomorrow.

Not2bObvious · 28/05/2021 08:13

I hope you got some sleep gen and the pain is lessening?
I had a load of junk/wine last night. Pretty much matched calorie burn.
Shockingly (haha) didn't make my target today. Up on last week, scales varies a bit bit probably 1-1.6 up, usual pattern, loss/gain/maintain.... It is a pain since I've upped activity/dropped calories on average over the last couple of weeks. I've definitely improved my behaviour but the scales is understandably cautious to reward😂

Thanks not I am loads better today after a great sleep. The ibuprofen + solpadol was the ticket. Back feels much better too so I must have jarred it maybe as I’m moving about oddly with legs sort of semi out of action.
Wifi is broken today and I’m supposed to be WFh. You couldn’t make it up!
I am going to have a glass of wine tomorrow if I’ve been off pain meds, my friend is coming to see me in the eve. Can’t wait Grin

Not2bObvious · 28/05/2021 08:34

I'd say it's great that WiFi isn't working so you'll need to rest but since so much of everything is linked to having internet that sucks! Seeing friends tonight and I can't wait☺️

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/05/2021 08:53

Feeling a bit better about stuff now. Not sure I'm ready to hop back on but still reading.

The ultra processed food article is thought provoking. We eat loads.

Not2bObvious · 29/05/2021 10:28

No weigh this morning, late night with friends so a bit delicate today. Very tired but will get a walk in later, not sure what to have for dinner

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 29/05/2021 16:35

Are you talking about the thing on the bbc life? Just watched it, it's frightening and we too eat loads, I'm struggled to find what isn't ultra processed in my intake.
Have post booze munchies, that's just marvellous

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 30/05/2021 07:30

Yes not. J didn't watch it but have read various articles surrounding it.
Same. Lots of processes and ultra processed here. Might try little changes

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2021 07:51

Good morning everyone 😊
Been okish yesterday, yesterday,
Glad you are feeling better Gen
Must watch that programme
Not life thank you for the heads up 😊
It seems we are all seeing friends now and with that comes eating & drinking lovely things 🤣 we are all doomed 😊

Not2bObvious · 30/05/2021 09:24

Watching the Michael Mosley thing while eating my cooked breakfast 🤦‍♀️ Pretty sure the only non processed/ultra is the egg! Must do better

OP posts:
Gensola · 30/05/2021 09:28

I watched the BBC program too - it was an eye opener! It chimes with that book I read also, which suggested that UPFs behave in a different way in the body, and stop insulin and leptin functioning properly which leads to obesity and type 2 diabetes. It was so scary to think that it’s not just calories, it’s the type of food and how it reacts in the body.

ememem84 · 31/05/2021 07:46

Down .5kg. But I suspect that’s mostly due to me doing myself a mischief on Saturday night and not taking enough water with my meds. This lead to me massively hurting my throat, throwing up a few times and only being able to eat teeny portions and drink water. Ffs.

Still trying to do exercise every day though. And hit 10k steps as a minimum.
