Any doing Exante?

Hi.

Just wondering if anyone is doing Exante (or anything similar) currently. I have a few VLCD sachets in my kitchen cupboard and have ordered some bars. I’ll be starting Monday. Anyone else?

My starting weight is 18stone so I have to lose literally half my weight Blush.

I'm sort of doing a not strict exante plan that mostly involves calorie counting plus 2/3 exante products/day aiming for a calorie deficit of about 700/day so not VLCD but I cannot cope with starvation/ketosis, and I'm vegetarian so it's tricky to keep carbs super low

Only on day 2 so still early days for me but I find not eating breakfast and having my first meal at lunch helps keep my calories low. No big bank holiday plans for the weekend so should be fine diet wise I hope! It's definitely a willpower issue for me.

Noneofthathere · 29/04/2021 16:21

@WaltzingBetty sounds like a good thing. I've been realising that low carb and veggie are difficult to work out. If you're aiming for calorie deficit of 700/day are you doing a lot of exercise?

WaltzingBetty · 29/04/2021 21:59

I'm fairly active, I'm also 5'9'' so my daily calorie burn is usually in the region of 2,850 according to my Fitbit (dunno how accurate that is - I think it overestimates)

I do 3-4 exercise sessions/week of 90mins-2 hrs plus walk my dog.
My TDEE is about 2,200calories/day according to an online calculator so I'm aiming for about 1500 calories/day intake rather than my Fitbit estimation as I think it might actually be part of the reason I've struggled with weight loss in the past

WaltzingBetty · 29/04/2021 22:06

How is everyone else doing?

I feel a bit of a fraud as I'm not doing hardcore exante but I really struggle with the sweetness. Having said that I have ordered a box of the meals (Dahl, Bolognaise and curry) as I find them great for filling low cal lunches/dinners with a bag of mixed veg when I'm working

I also do use the shakes as a quick breakfast on the run. I find if I have 2-3 products/day then a sensible meal it really helps keep my calorie intake down

Happy Friday all!
Day 5 for me today and I'm feeling quite a lot better....not so tired and headachy. Can't feel the weight dropping off though although I must be losing when eating only 800 ish cals a day. Weigh in on Sunday morning so that will be interesting.

Generally feeling OK though, not too hungry and managing temptations pretty well. BH weekend might be a challenge as would normally involve lots of eating and drinking 🤔
I've just discovered the coffee caramel frappe and its blimmin delish, especially whizzed up with some ice and an extra spoonful of coffee.....highly recommended!

That's amazing! I have enormous admiration. I'd really struggle with a VLCD (probs why I'm fat!)

Fingers crossed for Sunday!

I haven't been doing well at all. I've had a very bad week. I don't know what happened, I've been SO motivated since January.

Anyway, I'm starting afresh today.
12st 8lb 2oz
Fbg: 8.2 😳

imnotprincessbubblegum · 02/05/2021 12:34

I've not done great this week either. I was doing good til Thursday morning, I weighed myself and saw I'd only lost a pound since Monday, at the time I was disappointed but wasn't too disheartened, nevertheless ended up eating (on plan products but) about 2.5 what you're supposed to have and have gained 1lb when I weight this morning SadI'm going to have an off plan day today (but not go too crazy) and then start tomorrow afresh, shakes only for one week.

It's really tough isn't it? I fell off plan yesterday, mainly wine related, and now cooking delicious Sunday late lunch and planning just chicken and veg for me. Am on plan today so far and hoping I stay strong! Weigh day tomorrow as started products last Monday

3Britnee · 02/05/2021 22:01

I'll join you on the shakes for a week princess. This weekend has been 🙈 too.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 03/05/2021 04:21

Nearly at the end of week 1 and I'm so bloody hungry. Drinking loads (& peeing like a powerful horse Grin).
Was at work all day with a bar and 2 oxo cubes to last me and my god, I wolfed down a chicken breast with asparagus and broccoli, when I got home. Still hungry. Sad
I get that I'm re-educating my appetite but can't sleep now. My son suggested I eat celery Envy( not envy).

Aargh.

WaltzingBetty · 03/05/2021 05:57

Hang in there!
I'm waiting on a new box of exante arriving which I really need. I've had a super-active weekend which I've used as an excuse to basically eat and drink what I like whilst reassuring myself that I'm under my (overestimated) Fitbit calorie burn.
I really need to ignore that and get back to restricted calories

SuperSange · 03/05/2021 07:15

I've been reading and I think I'm going to order some. I have a question though; I do two hard cardio classes and a weight training session a week. How do I accommodate that, could I make the shakes with milk on those days or something? I have 4 stones to lose. X

3Britnee · 03/05/2021 08:10

Maybe you should have a meal on those days. Chicken and veg or something. Exante do say if you do serious exercise then you need to eat back the calories.

I'm starting this week at 12st 8lbs 0oz and a fasting blood glucose of 8.5. Hopefully that will be back on track as soon as possible.

WTF99 · 03/05/2021 12:56

Hi all,
1st weigh in on day 8 and 5llbs down. Most of that was in the first day or two though I think (sneaky mid week weigh ins!)
Am finding it tough, not gonna lie, but hoping I can stay strong for at least another 2 weeks and see what the next 2 weigh in bring.
I have 19 more pounds to lose and each one feels like a massive effort!

Noneofthathere · 03/05/2021 13:41

I'm on day 13, stuck to 800 cals except yesterday, had 1200. But going to do 800 cals for another week.
@SuperSange some of the 800 cal plans suggest you stick at 800 cals no matter how many other cals you burn, others say have an extra 200 cals and then others say use all the cals you burn through exercise. So I think it's fair to say do what works! I'm sticking to 800 cals and sometimes I'm doing 700 cals in exercise, hoping this just means I'll lose quicker.

@Babysharkdoodoodood the first few nights I dreamed of eating chocolate. Hunger is definitely a problem, although it's less now than it was, and despite the gurgling noises from my tummy I'm trying to tell myself it's all in my head.

I've been having Zero High 5 electrolyte tablets daily and I think that helps with the feeling knackered. I always feel tired anyway so not sure I can blame low cal diet.

2nd weigh in I've lost nothing, zero pounds Hmm yes I've had a couple of off days but what about the rest of the time Grin

I'm with those of you who are doing shakes only this week....well apart from the gin and tonic I had today....and the Starbucks Blush.Right fair to say I've messed up today but starting tomo 100% shakes only, gotta get back to how I was the first week

I failed yesterday too. I think it was because I said I was only going to have shakes. I'm going to try to do any 3 products and maybe a salad, until I'm back in the saddle and then I'll phase the salad out.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 04/05/2021 11:27

1st weigh in. 1.7kg lost. Whoop!
Going to do sone measurements in a bit, but I'll only do them monthly.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 04/05/2021 17:33

Hi everyone! Had week two weigh in and lost 4 more lbs - so 12 1/2 lbs in total!
But! I've been extremely disciplined, haven't touched a single thing other than morning coffee, 3 meal replacements, and a 200 cal 10g carb meal at night.
Some of the bars are a bit Envy(not envy!)
I've liked all the shakes but need the bars really as shakes aren't as filling.
Have tried it with ice and crushed up in a blender - anyone else? Really good!
I'm going to flag a bit tomorrow as I'm home all alone, all day.

imnotprincessbubblegum · 04/05/2021 18:18

Well done!! Good job guys!

I think my downfall is in the past, failing then taking weeks to get back onto it. You sound like you've got a very good plan! This diet is tough! I've done slimming world before now, and I have failed 5-6 times and now weigh 3st more than I did when I first tried SW! So it might be a kinder, more flexible diet but I think I respect this diet's rules a lot more as they are clear cut. Does that make sense?
WaltzingBetty · 04/05/2021 20:37

My exante delivery arrived today so I'm aiming to be strictish from tomorrow with a goal of 1200-1500 cals/day

3Britnee · 04/05/2021 21:19

Yes, very. I failed again today. New start tomorrow. Again 🙄
