Hi.

Just wondering if anyone is doing Exante (or anything similar) currently. I have a few VLCD sachets in my kitchen cupboard and have ordered some bars. I’ll be starting Monday. Anyone else?

My starting weight is 18stone so I have to lose literally half my weight Blush.

I've started today, so fingers crossed. Thanks to @3Britnee and @Noneofthathere - I'd not intended to eat the calories back, I think first I'm going to try my 200cal meal before the exercise, at lunchtime and have a shake made with milk after, for the protein. She works me until I have total muscle fatigue (weights and cardio), so in my tiny mind, the protein in the milk will help with repair. Smile

@3Britnee

Yes, very. I failed again today. New start tomorrow. Again 🙄
You didn't fail, it's just an off day Smile

I've not been 100% since Thursday, but I'm not going to see if as a fail as I'm still trying. It is hard but it'll get easier and they're going to be slip ups sometimes, I think that's to be expected

@SuperSange I think only 20 mins of light exercise is recommended on the 800 plan if you don't eat back the calories. I'm no expert and have done it for only just over a week but I think that's what I've read. I'm eating somewhere between 800 and 900 calories a day and would certainly find it hard to do anything strenuous on that but I'm far from super fit. You know your own body though. Let us know how you get on.

Its seems there are quite a few struggles going on here. I'm finding it hard....it definitely is more of a mental than physical battle for me, though I have noticed some physical effects especially headaches and tiredness. That's gradually wearing off and much better this week than last, but sometimes I just really want to eat or drink something often just out of boredom or for comfort. I think it helps that I tell myself that I'll do it for 2 weeks and then review.....that seems doable and keeps me going...mostly!

I've just bought some more bars....the jam ones, peanut butter, the lemon and the salted caramel. I have the jam for breakfast, a shake or soup for lunch, a 200 ish cal meal after work and then one of the other bars with a cuppa in the evening. Really look forward to that as they are chewy and feel like a treat.

Good luck everyone....keep going!

3Britnee · 05/05/2021 21:36

Yes, good point.

I have done so well since January, a carb has not passed my lips. These last two weeks though, its like I'm compulsive eating. If I think of something in the freezer or cupboards, I have to eat it.

I'm getting back on track tomorrow though. I was 11st 13 last week! Now I'm nearly 13st again.

3Britnee · 07/05/2021 15:20

How's everyone getting on? I had another bad day yesterday. 12st 10 and a bg of 9.7 this morning. So far today all I've eaten is salad, hoping to use that up today and get back on the products tomorrow.

WTF99 · 07/05/2021 15:56

Sorry to hear that @3Britnee. What's the issue? Is bg blood glucose? Is there a reason why you're measuring that? Sorry for all the questions!

I'm doing ok. Day off work today and went for 5 mile walk with a friend which has been fab. Making the most of the sunshine and staying on plan so far today.

Entering the weekend danger zone though 😳 I did a sneaky early weigh-in this morning and am 2 llbs down on Monday plus in next stone bracket so I'm hoping that's enough motivation to keep me on track 🤞

Yes, it's blood glucose, I'm diabetic and had my readings down to non-diabetic levels.

Don't break! I did at 11st 13 and now I'm nearly a stone heavier 😔 let me be an example of what not to do!

WTF99 · 07/05/2021 16:50

Will do my best! Hope you get back on track soon.

Helene2019 · 07/05/2021 18:24

Hi everyone, am joining this thread for accountability and motivation. I am doing exante to shift some weight before my next IVF cycle - I put on half a stone during last cycle and want to lose it before the next round, and was overwight pre IVF in the first place! Started Exante on Sunday with a BMI of 28.5 and doing the 1200 cals a day version (two exante meal replacements and one evening meal within the calorie limit). I've
currently lost 2lbs but not quite at the end of the first week. Hoping to not binge over the weekend and loose the progress!

Roodog · 07/05/2021 20:35

Hi @Helene2019, good luck, and good luck with IVF too. I think I'm going to move to 1200 cals from tomorrow. I'm struggling on 800cals and can feel I'm about to fall off the wagon so going to pre empt it by changing things.

3Britnee · 07/05/2021 21:05

A carb has not passed my lips today! First time in two weeks. I think I'm addicted to lidl new yorker salad though, I had 3 today, but left out the croutons and bacon. (I bought a few of them the other day when they were reduced so had to get them all gone today before starting products tomorrow). I did add some onion, cherry tomatoes, avocado and radishes but that's all still salad. I know it's not on plan but better than I've done for a while. I've also had my 3l of are and 5 green tea's today.

Felling much more 💪now.

Brilliant! Well done! Need to look that salad up! I've had the lemon pancake for breakfast today, and just having the cookies and cream bar with a coffee for my lunch. I'm type 2 diabetic and part of the reason I need to lose weight is to improve my hba1c.
3Britnee · 08/05/2021 13:31

Same here. Although I've never had a hba1c, I was diagnosed the week before we left the UK and I haven't had one here. I test each morning though and I stopped metformin in January when I read it was being recalled. I should book a Dr appointment but it's a right pain in the arse, even though we're bloody paying for it 🙄

3Britnee · 08/05/2021 19:09

How's everyone getting on over the weekend?

I've had a good day. I've had;
Raspberry porridge
A bar
Fajitas with a block of frozen spinach in the sauce and roasted broccolli, green beans & garlic in soy sauce, a tiny but of sweet chilli sauce, ginger and garlic.

It was delicious!

That sounds good! Were the fajitas Exante ones? I tried the cinnamon porridge pot yesterday - a whole lot nicer than the sachets!
3Britnee · 10/05/2021 09:10

Yes they were.

Yesterday I had exante sausage, with onions, a bit of chicken and then chicken, broccoli and green beans. Not 100% but no carbs.

I'm going to try to only have 3 products and a small salad from now on.

cutebutscary · 10/05/2021 10:02

Ooo I'm starting on Wednesday , will rtft as soon as I get chance for some advice off you lovely ladies . I have 6 stone to lose x

WTF99 · 10/05/2021 10:18

Morning all!
Well I stepped off plan on Saturday and Sunday.....I say stepped off as it was a decision rather than falling off in response to temptation. Just felt I needed a bit of a splurge though didn't go too wild. Back on it now though and just had strawberry yoghurt bar and coffee for breakfast and I was actually looking forward to it!

I'd normally weigh on a Monday but gonna delay till tomorrow to get over the weekend bloat a little.

Wishing everyone a good week

Helene2019 · 10/05/2021 12:55

I forgot to post yesterday at the end of my first week I lost 3lbs and BMI gone from 28.5 to 28. This is good progress and I think its achievable for me to stick to 1200 Cal's than the 800cal plan.

I really like all the shakes and almost all the bars and most of the meals packs. For my evening meal I have been sticking to chicken or fish baked with vegetables or a salad but I do have a sweet tooth so always want dessert after a meal. So last week i swapped my usual 4 chocolate bars a day for 20g 70% dark chocolate and a fibre one bar and didn't have any cravings for anything else. Also been alcohol free this week as I would rather use my calorie limit for chocolate rather than alcohol!

At the moment am feeling positive, but it is only Monday. This week's aim is to not fall off the wagon 🤞. How's everyone else doing?

Onwarddear · 10/05/2021 14:14

Hi everyone, joining the thread as I started Exante today - doing 3 shakes a day and then 200cal meal/snack, had 2 shakes so far and feeling so hungry!!

3Britnee · 10/05/2021 17:01

Stick it out, after day 3/4, it gets easier.

I've had a bar for breakfast, a gooey pudding for lunch and a square of 85% sugar free dark chocolate. I don't know what I'm going to have for dinner, I might have a shake, or maybe the pizza, and a salad.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 11/05/2021 00:26

At the end of week 3. Weighed in earlier (Monday morning) and had lost 4 more lbs. Total weight loss is now 16lbs in 3 weeks. Have 6st to lose before my BMI is out of the obese category.

Helene2019 · 11/05/2021 01:01

@Onwarddear it does get easier. I find eating at the same times helps and also drink teas in-between.

@UpsyDaisysarmpit wow good going. That's a lot in 3 weeks.

Noneofthathere · 11/05/2021 07:27

Had a wobbly few days I'm sorry to say. Wanted to allow myself to introduce food, and increase to 1200 cals. Needless to say it didn't go to plan and I ended up back to eating chocolate. Had lost 13lbs 21/4-4/5, now put on 4lbs so overall loss 9lbs.

On the positive side I've noticed that I really need to drink 2.5-3 litres of water/peppermint tea a day to get it working. However while this is ok when I'm at home/office, when out and about without access to a loo it's less easy.

Going to reset again this week and see.if I can refind my mojo.

Well done to those sticking with it. Got to put an order in for more products later too.

3Britnee · 11/05/2021 07:43

After a while, the peeing so much stops.

And yes, yes to eating at the same time. I do 12, 4, 8 so that also adds in a 16hr fasting window.

I'm concerned about my bg test strips. I had an 8.0 and then an 8.8 this morning. Big difference. They are out of date so I need to see if the chemists here have that brand, and how much they are. Medical things here are odd. I could buy metformin over the counter for €2.50 but a glorified cough mixture my DH bought was €35. So god knows how much strips are here, I brought some with me and my DH brought some back last time he went home so I haven't had to buy them here yet.

12st 4lb 2oz for me today. I don't know whether to count from the day I only had salads or the day after where I started on products, or just count overall loss since 4th Jan, that might be easier.
