Hi.

Just wondering if anyone is doing Exante (or anything similar) currently. I have a few VLCD sachets in my kitchen cupboard and have ordered some bars. I’ll be starting Monday. Anyone else?

My starting weight is 18stone so I have to lose literally half my weight Blush.

I like the peanut butter bars!

Lockheart · 29/06/2021 00:08

I weighed myself this evening and since last Monday I have lost 6lb! However I should caveat that by saying I have just today had the last day of my period, so it's difficult to say how much of that is actual weight loss vs returning to normal non-bloated and non-water-retaining state. The real test will be the next couple of weeks.

3Britnee · 29/06/2021 06:19

@Lockheart Sometimes losses are small in the second week but get on track from week 3. I don't know why.

11st 5lb 4oz for me today, 1lb 4oz until I'm no longer obese 😁

Picklesbaby · 29/06/2021 09:30

@3Britnee well done you. this is what I need to hear😊

Does it make a difference if you have a bar or shake ? I was going to do a shake for breakfast and a bar for lunch each day..

3Britnee · 29/06/2021 09:55

@Picklesbaby They reckon you can have any of the products and it doesn't make a difference, but I personally feel that shakes only has a better result, but that's just making things harder than they need to be, for the relative difference you get.

3Britnee · 29/06/2021 09:55

And thank you 😁

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/06/2021 14:34

I find the bars a bit more filling. Has anyone else found they have sweet cravings, maybe as some of the foods are sweet? Still, there is only so much you can stomach when they are very sweet and filling I suppose.

Helene2019 · 29/06/2021 18:29

@3Britnee well done on fighting the pie cravings!

Welcome everyone starting this week.

@Orangesandlemons77 I have a massive sweet tooth. When getting back on the exante wagon I found 20g dark chocolate (70% + cocoa

3Britnee · 29/06/2021 20:31

Thanks, I nearly got it back out today 😂 but I didn't.

3Britnee · 30/06/2021 05:39

👊💥 I'm no longer obese 😁
Just overweight now.

If anyone thinks I'm weird I put a sticker over my feet because no one needs to see those and there was reflection on my glass scales 👀 you couldn't see any bits, but anyway, no one needs to see that either 😂

Lockheart · 30/06/2021 07:40

Congratulations @3Britnee! That's amazing :)

3Britnee · 30/06/2021 07:51

@Lockheart 😁 thank you

Picklesbaby · 30/06/2021 10:23

Day 3 & I’m feeling the hunger today. Vanilla shake for breakfast but my 4 week plan has just arrived so im going to try the soup for lunch.
I have to say though , I seem to have quite smelly wind 🤢😂🙈

@Helene2019 I’m always a good 2/3lb lighter at the end my my cycle-you might see a big loss at the end of the week !

WhoWants2Know · 30/06/2021 11:10

Yeah, the wind and dragon breath are not attractive, even if I currently do look better 😁

Orangesandlemons77 · 30/06/2021 19:32

I had the daal for dinner this evening, was OK. Sorry if this has been done before, but what are your favourite things and some things to avoid / be wary of?

I am not keen on the porridge so far. I am trying to give it another go though.

Just had a 4 week box and have some things to try, not sure about the butterscotch pudding (angel delight?) and chilli, have not ventured there yet and keep eating the bars instead.

I'll end up with a week of chilli and puddings I reckon

WhoWants2Know · 30/06/2021 20:05

My favourite things are the chocolate peanut butter shake and cinnamon swirl shake, the chocolate mint shake made into ice lollies, and the lemon, strawberry jam and chocolate orange bars.

Most products can be turned into muffins by adding an egg, baking powder and a little water.

I've seen people add lots of sautéed veg to the chilli and that looked good.

Picklesbaby · 30/06/2021 21:00

I really disliked the strawberry jam bar and honeycomb shake 🤢. I’ve received chicken and leek soup in my box not sure about that..
Feel quite sick tonight and have a horrid headache

3Britnee · 30/06/2021 21:43

If you don't like things at first, try them again in a few weeks because your tastes change.

Add more water than they say to the soups and use herbs/spices.

My favourites are the pizzas, fajitas, salted caramel & caramel crunch bars, the cookies, and the chilli.

3Britnee · 01/07/2021 07:00

11st 3lb 4oz today, so a 3st loss since 4th January 💪👏🥂🥳

WhoWants2Know · 01/07/2021 08:06

Well done @3Britnee !

3Britnee · 01/07/2021 08:21

@WhoWants2Know Thank you 😊

3Britnee · 01/07/2021 10:26

Just got the results from my health check. My hba1c is 4.5, not even borderline so she said if it's that without the tablets (I stopped them in January), they may have diagnosed too early (this is the first hba1c I've had, we left the uk a week after diagnosis) she said they should have tried to sort it by diet first, which I agree with, but the day I first got seen, it was 19, and the next day it was 12 or something, and they told me I was pre diabetic a long time ago. So if I eat the way I was it will go back up.

👏👏👏

Helene2019 · 01/07/2021 10:59

Wow @3Britnee good news all round. I think your triple success this week will inspire everyone else on this thread - especially people just starting out.

I think the first 2 weeks is the hardest - while you a) explore all the great and not so great flavours of the packs and b) get used to not eating the volume of food previously c) become conscious of when you eat/what triggers you eating even if you aren't hungry and cravings etc. Stick with it and vent here before caving in!

This week I'm still sticking to just 1 pack and two low carb meals of protein and vegetables/salad this week and the odd dessert of Greek yoghurt with sugar free syrup or poached/baked fruit. Over 8 weeks in and I still haven't unlearned the habit of having a dessert after dinner - I question whether this is even possible 😂 - but I am making better food choices overall.

3Britnee · 01/07/2021 11:04

Thanks, yes people should definitely take this as where you can get to. At Christmas I'd have laughed if someone said this is where I'd be in 6 months time.

There are some down points, my b12 and vit d are low. My good cholesterol is low, although bad cholesterol is fine. And my urea/uric acid is high. So somehow I need to lower my protein, and up the good fats.
