Hi.

Just wondering if anyone is doing Exante (or anything similar) currently. I have a few VLCD sachets in my kitchen cupboard and have ordered some bars. I’ll be starting Monday. Anyone else?

My starting weight is 18stone so I have to lose literally half my weight Blush.

Thanks that is really helpful. I don't drink enough now but will look to increase this before I start..
I don't have any health issues yet (not had a day. Off sick in last 13 years) but realise I am a time bomb waiting to explode!
I worry about diabetes and liver disease.

3Britnee · 08/06/2021 07:19

Good luck then, when do you think you'll start?

12st 0lb 4oz and 5.3 for me today.

Was yesterday weigh in day for people with more self control than me How's everyone getting on?

25yearsnhsworker · 08/06/2021 08:44

Does the 5.3 represent blood glucose? When do you test this to get a good picture. I would like to know mine but not sure if I should do it after a meal or before?

3Britnee · 08/06/2021 10:28

Yes, 5.3mmol. I test as soon as I get up.

If you don't know what your figures are like and how different things affect you yet then they say to take your fasting blood glucose (fbg) which is first thing, and before each meal and 2 hours after.

After a while you'll know your safe foods and portions. Like earlier this year, after a couple of months of clean eating, I added in 100g of chips occasionally and it didn't affect my fbg really, but I was hitting at least 15,000 steps every day then, lots of them on the cross trainer.

riotlady · 08/06/2021 12:40

Hi all :) thought I’d check in. Has been going ok- lost 7.5lbs in my first week then just 1lb in my second, so hoping for a bit more this week and trying to be very strict with myself!

3Britnee · 08/06/2021 12:54

That's still a good loss, you might have a whoosh coming.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 08/06/2021 13:32

@riotlady don't be despondent - I lost 2lbs last week but then weighed in yesterday and had lost 4lbs this week.

Have bought some Purition shakes to try. I liked the pistachio one stirred into yogurt but wasn't a fan of shakes made from them. I tried the cocoa one as a porridge this morning and was not good - I ended up chucking in favour of Exante porridge pot.

WhoWants2Know · 08/06/2021 15:03

Sometimes freezing shakes into ice lollies can make them more palatable.

3Britnee · 08/06/2021 15:48

You can make them into 'cake' too, if you don't mind adding an egg.

peachesarenom · 08/06/2021 19:17

Hi everyone!

Gosh lots of interesting info since I last messaged! I like the sound of a 'woosh'! How does that work?

I think I probably started at the same time as you riot lady. I lost 5kg the first week but only 2.2kg the second week. I'm very big though! 1st day of week 3 today! I was a bit disappointed too, I shouldn't be because it's faster than anything I've ever done before but it's hard and I want to eat carbs!

peachesarenom · 08/06/2021 19:19

Forgot to say, I forgot to order more shakes/bars and now they won't be here till Thurs and I have run out!!!!

What shall I eat tomorrow?

3Britnee · 08/06/2021 19:44

@Peachesarenom Do you have a superdrug near you? They stock exante products, and in a pinch I compared my supermarket ones with exante and they were the same calorie, carb and sugar wise so were fine as a stopgap. I didn't bother checking every nutrient.

peachesarenom · 08/06/2021 19:48

@3Britnee no superdrug close by but I could get to a super market. I'll give it a go. Do you think Coop might have something?

3Britnee · 08/06/2021 19:50

I find I get really soft and squidgy first.

Any doing Exante?

Maybe. If you can't get any, you could just have salad/veg/protein, weigh it so you know how many calories/carbs are in it.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 08/06/2021 22:47

Only had a frappe shake today with an espresso shot in it and then a couple of sausages with air fried beetroot and carrot. BS was down to 7 today. Hba1c is also down to 64 so I'm getting there. I also had a SafeFit zoom class but it was only a light toning session.

Oh, I did have a snack as well; got some seaweed 'wafers' from the Chinese supermarket. Very low cal and extremely tasty.

3Britnee · 09/06/2021 05:45

Well done @Babysharkdoodoodood! 👏

5.6 and 11st 13lb 8oz for me today 😁

25yearsnhsworker · 09/06/2021 08:15

Morning all
Just tested my blood glucose and it was 5.7 and after a quick scan that is high for a fasting one. Will check it again through the day today.
Should I ring my GP to discuss?

3Britnee · 09/06/2021 11:26

You could, or you could take it for a few days and see what it does. They don't do or give you anything at pre diabetic levels, or they didn't me anyway, just told me to lose weight.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 09/06/2021 11:55

No loss of wait this week, but 3 inches off my waist!

Got into my size 22 jeans with ease, and considering that I had to order size 28 for work trousers, that's a win for me!
Only issue is that we are only allowed to order uniform once a year and mine are already hanging off me. Had to punch new holes in my belt to keep them up GrinThey'll I have to give me new ones in a few months though or I'll look too scruffy and bring the force into disrepute Wink

3Britnee · 09/06/2021 12:28

Ahhh well done 👏 surely they'll have to make an allowance in this instance?

I've been using out of date stuff. Its freeze dried and sealed in bags 🤷‍♀️ I don't think it will hurt you.

Helene2019 · 09/06/2021 20:51

@Babysharkdoodoodood I also put an espresso into the frappe shake! Lol. So good with ice and blended. You must be so pleased dropping so many sizes. I think I've gone from a size 16 to a 14 now - but it's not so much about size or shape but to get my BMI and specifically fat % lower. I started out at 44% body fat 😱 and am currently hovering around 40% (healthy should be 22-34%).

@3Britnee good to see you still losing the lbs.

@GrapesAreMyJam I have packets out of date and they taste fine. Had no problems. It is only a Best Before not Use By date.

3Britnee · 10/06/2021 05:53

That's really good helene. I have no idea what my body fat was/is, it was probably 75% 😂

11st 12lb 8oz and 4.8!!! For me today 😊

I'm very pleased with that but I'm going for an indian tonight and on one hand I want to have what I like (curry, onion bhaji, poppadoms), but on the other, I don't want to mess my figures up (I suppose that would be tandoori or tikka chicken and salad or veg and a bit of poppadom) Confused
