Hi.

Just wondering if anyone is doing Exante (or anything similar) currently. I have a few VLCD sachets in my kitchen cupboard and have ordered some bars. I’ll be starting Monday. Anyone else?

My starting weight is 18stone so I have to lose literally half my weight Blush.

I think it makes sense to comparison shop between different products if they all have similar contents. I can't even get in to the official exante facebook group, so I joined a couple of smaller ones,

3Britnee · 19/05/2021 12:06

SnS has a better savory range now.

WTF99 · 20/05/2021 12:33

Hi all, how's everyone doing?
My progress has been pretty slow, despite me being strict with the 800 diet for most of the week, and mostly going no further that 1200 cals if I relax a bit at weekends. I'm surprised I'm not losing more quickly as I must surely be in calorie deficit?
Anyway, weighed myself yesterday and was exactly the same as I had been last Friday and that was only a pound lighter than the week before. So I had a bit of a splurge last night though not as indulgent as I could have been, and this morning I'm a pound lighter! So that's 9 pounds lost in total in just under 4 weeks, so I guess that's not too bad.
Back on it today but I am a bit bored if I'm honest.

I want to start Exante.

Weighed myself today and I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been at 15 stones exactly and I’m 5ft7.

I’m a size 14 in clothes and have been since the last 6 years but they have started to feel tight now.

Feel disgusted and ashamed of myself. Need to sort this out now.

I gained weight after my mum died in 2014 so that’s about 3 stones since then but enough is enough now.

WhoWants2Know · 20/05/2021 16:54

It's definitely worth a try to see how it goes. I'm still in my first week, so I can't say how well it's working for me yet, but I feel good about it so far.

WhoWants2Know · 20/05/2021 16:56

Oh, also some of the people on the "800 calorie packs only" facebook group start WhatsApp group chats for mutual support, and I find that really helpful in getting through the day.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 21/05/2021 02:42

3rd week in and I've lost 4,5 kg total.

3Britnee · 21/05/2021 07:34

I need help. My name is Britnee and I'm a carb and sugar addict.

My blood glucose was 10.5 this morning and my weight was 12st 11lb 14oz.

I've had no impulse or self control, I even ordered a pizza last night. With a garlic naan and onion bhaji's.

I really need a week of shakes only, to get back in my groove.

My problem is if I have stuff in the house then I need to eat it to use it up. I don't like waste. Atm I've got half a bar of 85% dark choc and some salad and a small tortilla (egg, not bread, but it's got potato in). I could use that up today but I'm in the mind frame to start again today, meal by meal.

I was thinking of having all my products together at 12, so doing one meal a day, for a bit to get my blood sugar down. I think I might find that easier, but I don't know what to do 🤷‍♀️

WhoWants2Know · 21/05/2021 12:53

It's worth a try, but I think if you have all your products at once, it may be a lot for your system to digest. Each product has roughly 17 grams of protein and 4 grams of fibre, so spacing them out with water might help.

I'm also a sugar/carb addict, and this has definitely helped me.

Helene2019 · 21/05/2021 16:25

@Babysharkdoodoodood well done! You seem to be losing at a steady pace. And it's a lot in just 3 weeks.

My scales show I'm down 1lb and BMI is 27.6 (soooooo close to my goal this week of 27.5).

@3Britnee I am the same I love bread and chocolate - generally a carb monster. Personally before my 1st IVF round I was trying to lose as much weight as possible and I found the 800 and even 1000 cal Exante versions too difficult and I ended up binging and not staying on plan. I recommend doing the light 1200 version (2-4 packs and then the remaining Cals on protein and veg and snacks like whole fruit, natural yoghurt or 70% dark chocolate). I'm accepting that I will lose slower (currently lost 5lbs in almost 3 weeks) but it's more important for me to not feel restricted so that I am motivated enough to stay on plan longer.

Not a medical expert (!) but if you ate the packs as one meal in the day wouldn't your blood sugar sharply rise where as spreading them out across regular intervals would even things throughout the day?

3Britnee · 21/05/2021 21:24

Ok I think I've got it all out of my system and there's nothing perishable left in my fridge 😂 except for a romaine lettuce and half a cucumber but those don't count. I think I'll stick to 12,4,8 for the products because the loss is what it is on these, I don't think OMAD would make any difference.

Just don't keep the tempting stuff in the house!

We don't have chocolate in the house now. Everything carby is in the freezer so if DH or ds want something then they can cook it.

I plan the weeks meals religiously now and don't include anything extra for me, apart from having a smaller version of what I cook for dh/ds. It helps that I work late shift (1330-2200) 3 times a week so I only eat what I take to work, usually a bar or daal. And there's no work canteen.

When you get an attack of the munchies, down a glass of water. It really helps.

3Britnee · 22/05/2021 07:12

I'm not going to buy anything else. I actually don't need to buy any food atm as my husband is in the uk, I only need to buy food for the dogs, so theoretically it should be easy.

Helene2019 · 22/05/2021 09:25

I agree @Babysharkdoodoodood good tips. I've put bread, bagels and sliced cake in the freezer so if anyone wants them they need to defrost them first! Pizza is also frozen and since covid we don't eat out or get takeaways - so that temptation is completely gone.

@3Britnee good luck on your first day back on plan!

3Britnee · 22/05/2021 09:33

Thank you. I'm doing ok so far, but it is only 10.30 😂😂😂

WhoWants2Know · 22/05/2021 10:25

I lost 5 pounds in my first week, and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm mostly sticking to the packs, but I keep celery, nuts and sugar free jelly around to keep me going.

3Britnee · 22/05/2021 14:38

I bought some mushrooms for if I really need something. 250g is only 55 calories, and I've got broccoli in the freezer.

Recycledblonde · 22/05/2021 18:06

I got my first pack today, the two week one and I’m a bit disappointed. Apart from 3 soups it’s all sweet stuff with loads of chocolate which I’m not keen on at all. I’m going to persevere but next time I’ll order individually. I expected some of the actual meals.

3Britnee · 22/05/2021 18:17

They have lots of supply and stock issues so it's a case of you get what they've got, usually.

3Britnee · 22/05/2021 22:57

I've finally completed a day properly! First time in ages. I've had 3 low sugar chocolate smoothies (hot, so like hot chocolates), 3L of water, 5 green teas BUT I did have a tiny bit of chicken and some cucumber, but that would come within the 200 calorie allowance.

So its day 1 again for me.
12st 12lb 2oz
BG was 10.0.

Nannyamc · 22/05/2021 23:15

In order to lose weight you need to lose calories. In the last 2 years in my 50s my appetite waned. Egg and whole wheat bread at breakfast
Soup and whole wheat bread for lunch . Dinner meat veg and loads of water. Dropped 20 kg in the last 5 years and am far healthier for it.

Helene2019 · 23/05/2021 09:42

@WhoWants2Know good job! You must be so pleased. Discovered any packs you like/dislike?

Welcome @Recycledblonde - I think part of this exante journey is discovering what packs you like and dislike. I honestly think every pack has a slightly off taste (either too sweet or too salty) but I think it's specifically designed like that so you don't binge on them and also to reset your taste buds - cos I'm finding fruit, salad, vegetables taste like a treat now 😂. Savoury wise: I really like the carbonara, ham and pasta soup, dahl pots are sooooo good (taste just like the flavours in dhal from an Indian restaurant), apple porridge is sweet but the apples in it are tart.

@3Britnee glad day one is over, how do you feel? Wishing you the best for day 2 😀.

I did have half a bottle of wine last night whilst watching Eurovision - which after a lack of actual entertainment for over 1 year seemed like such fun 😂. So only 1lb down at the end of week 3 (total 5lbs), more importantly BMI is 27.6. Goals for this week to smash BMI 27.5 and see if I can get to half stone cumulative weight loss.

3Britnee · 23/05/2021 21:56

I feel fine, thanks helene, how are you - and everyone else - getting on?

I wasn't 100% today but I had over 3l water, 5 green teas, 1 shake, a tiny bit of chicken & cucumber and then broccoli, mushrooms & chicken in soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, ginger and garlic. It came in at under 200 calories and was DELICIOUS, if I say so myself. Now I really have nothing perishable left, except for a lettuce, so I'm ready to get on 3 products only from tomorrow.

riotlady · 23/05/2021 22:10

Hi everyone :) Is it ok to join in? I’m starting tomorrow! I’ve had an awful year and been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and have really struggled with my weight as I’m mostly lying on the sofa (and comfort eating too!)

I’m getting married in 3 months so would love to feel a bit nicer about myself. I’ll be doing 3 packs and a 200 cal meal.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 24/05/2021 00:30

Hi @riotlady and welcome! I've been doing the same as you are planning for 5 weeks tomorrow and lost 20lbs as of last Monday (I weigh in tomorrow). It has been going ok but I do find I am running out of 'real food' ideas for the 200 cals which is usually some sort of veggies with eggs, veggies with meat, etc. I bought a load of slim pasta/rice/noodles but I don't find the smell very appetising when you first open the packet.
Any ideas welcome!
@3Britnee you seem to be doing well at the minute!
