Awesome April

Thought I would start a new thread. Hoping that April will be a better month for all of us, especially with places opening up again and hopefully continued better weather.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. I'm not setting a weight goal this month, instead I'll be focusing on trying to improve my fitness and general well being. Hoping that a bit of weight loss might follow.

Yes hot cross buns not bad calorie wise. Aldi rhubarb and custard hot cross buns are also around 200 calories and delicious.

Welcome @TheChild, so close to your big goal, keep going!

Hangoverstruggles · 02/04/2021 09:37

Yes to hot cross buns! As long as I keep to one and not smothered in butter

Had a result on the scales this morning. 9st 13!! That's a 3lb loss this week and first decent loss in one go since starting again properly. Doubt it will stick around as I know Easter Sunday I will eat way over cals (there talk of mini egg cheesecake, pulled pork rolls, plus the Easter eggs!!)

Nearly back at pre-Christmas weight, 2lb to go and I'll try to crack maintaining.

Welcome @TheChild. That goal is definitely in sight! Well done!

TheHoneyBadger · 02/04/2021 11:23

Well done hangover. An overdue whoosh. Hoping for one myself next week 🙏

Can someone please send motivation? My house is still a tip, I’ve done no marking and half of Easter break has gone already 🙈

I’m going to have to write a list and set timers on my phone or something. Do they still have those getting stuff done threads on mn? There used to be fly lady type threads on here.

Cuzco · 02/04/2021 18:13

Very urgent question - with apologies for not welcoming new people and acknowledging other posts, I'll get there later - it's been a madhouse here today. I need a drink! Is a vodka and diet lemonade zero calories? I have already overdone my limit for the day.

drspouse · 02/04/2021 18:31

Not zero but not very many for one measure. 1 oz is about 65 cals according to MFP.

Cuzco · 02/04/2021 20:17

I'm back, catching up. Hello @ajk010421 @ApplyWithin @theotherfossilsister @TheChild , welcome.

Sending motivation @TheHoneyBadger - think how much better and satisfied you will feel once you have the chores done, plus if you get them done sooner rather than later, you'll still have some R&R time before term starts.

Great news @Hangoverstruggles !

Thanks @drspouse , fortunately now the DC are in bed, I've found a little resilience and not reached a drink... yet. Toddler DS has just hit the 'why?' stage with a vengeance which added to being up three times a night with DD was pushing my very short fuse to the edge. Never mind more socialising, I'd like to pitch a tent on top of a big hill completely on my own and have a great big sleep Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 02/04/2021 21:41

Thanks Curzo Smile I managed to mark a set of assessments this afternoon and clean the kitchen sink. It's a start Wink Going to endeavour to make a list tomorrow. I've written Tuesday and Wednesday in my diary for going into school and marking and sorting out all of my photocopying and planning. If I can stick to that and get on top of the house tomorrow and end of next week I'll be happy.

I try to stick to gin and slimline tonic as the calories are relatively low compared to wine or beer and I can make a long drink so less calories but a satisfyingly lasting drink.

Hope you manage to get a decent sleep tonight!

Octopus37 · 03/04/2021 08:23

Morning all, no weigh in today so no idea. Did well with water yesterday but thats about it. Hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

NutellaEllaElla · 03/04/2021 08:43

Hello hello, diet has been poor but exercise is up.

TheHoneyBadger · 03/04/2021 09:51

13:12.2 today. Think yesterday’s weigh in still had period bloat in the equation. Very nearly a stone lost since February.

Roll on gym opening to hopefully speed things up a bit.

I’ll be avoiding Easter chocs 🙏

NutellaEllaElla · 03/04/2021 10:08

How satisfying an achievement in a month badger! Very well done.

Hangoverstruggles · 03/04/2021 10:16

Great progress @TheHoneyBadger, you're on a roll! The gyms opening will make a massive difference. My outdoor classes started again this week and I already feel the benefit in terms of my mindset.

@Cuzco it's so hard to keep the resilience when you've had a wakeful night. Mine are 7 & 4 so tend to not need me in the night anymore, but those early days were all about the chocolate, coffee and cake to get me through. You're amazing to be dieting whilst going through that stage of life!

TheHoneyBadger · 03/04/2021 10:26

Two months Nutella! I wish I could lose that each month - I'd be in a bikini by summer. Thanks Hangover and yes it's not just the exercise but the mindset - I'm less inclined to fuck up with food when I know how hard I worked yesterday to burn x amount of calories and how pleased I was that I manged faster/harder/not as out of breath or whatever.

I do want to pick up the pace a bit. I've only got 3 and a half months till I go away.

drspouse · 03/04/2021 11:05

Lost that lb again, let's try and lose a different one this time...

Cuzco · 03/04/2021 14:49

That's definitely something to aim for @TheHoneyBadger where are you (hopefully!) off to? I really need to sort out something for us to do, because we missed the holiday window last year as it was when DD was born.

Nicely put @drspouse I hope a few more of them get lost too for you!

@Hangoverstruggles thank you, but it's not amazing, I'm just head on facing into the fact that there will always be a reason/excuse to eat cake or chocolate and as long as I take the 'explain it away' route, nothing will change. I can't carry on like that. I'm already a relatively old mum, and the last thing I want is to also be so unhealthy I can't be there for my children for a long time.

TheChild · 04/04/2021 07:44

Thank you for the lovely welcome 😊 is anyone else surrounded by a sea of easter eggs, chocolates and sweets this morning?! I tried to go easy this year and just by 1 egg per child and a couple of small bags of treats for an easter egg hunt, but somehow from work we accumulated multiple eggs and many more sweets 😑 the children are happily scoffing chocolate for breakfast while I drink my Sunday morning posh cafetiere coffee!

Happy Easter everyone! 🐇

Octopus37 · 04/04/2021 09:21

Happy Easter everyone. @TheHoneyBadger massive well done, that is a fantastic loss.

TBH think I'm getting close to wanting to get on the wagon again. Had a Dominos last night and just felt fat and gross. Obviously haven't got on the scales this morning. I'm not going to ban any foods but just really need to get in control. Feel fat and middle aged. Obviously Easter food around at the moment, including some baking which is in progress, but I am not banning any particular foods. Really need to concentrate on eating mindfully, when hungry, not for comfort, or cause of the time, or cause its there etc, such a hard habit to break.

Octopus37 · 05/04/2021 08:34

Didn't go totally mad on treats yesterday, although obviously had some. 9st4.25 this morning, thought I was going to be lot more. Got to go out to work today so it will mean more steps etc.

ApplyWithin · 05/04/2021 10:19

Lovely roast lunch yesterday and an entire Easter egg over the course of the day. Enjoyed every bite but looking forward to restarting MFP tomorrow! Too many mini eggs floating around my house to start today. Grin

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 05/04/2021 10:31

Checking in here, sticking with my 2 weekly weigh in but if I maintain this fortnight I'll be doing well. Aiming for water, steps and some healthy lunch prepping. Hope you're all well.

TheHoneyBadger · 05/04/2021 14:25

Well I restrained myself with Easter lunch but had quite a bit of wine and limoncello and then scoffed a packet of celebrations last night. Whoops.

13:13 exactly today. Need to be good for the rest of the week. Steak and green veg tonight I think. Loving meat at the minute when I don’t usually eat much of it.

Hopefully you guys did better than me on the chocolate front

NutellaEllaElla · 06/04/2021 07:08

Er no.

I'm back at least.

TheHoneyBadger · 06/04/2021 11:21

Scales were way up this morning! Choosing to hope it's a freaky fluctuation rather than the result of the celebrations.

Cuzco · 06/04/2021 13:36

Drowning in chocolate here. My lovely in laws couldn't get me an egg in my favourite chocolate, so instead bought me a different egg AND bars of said favourite chocolate. They were ordering online and didn't know how big the bars were, so to be on the safe side, ordered three.

I am know the proud owner of a ginormous Cadbury's egg, the two bars which come with it and 3x 360g bars. Plus the deliberately small egg I chose for myself from DH. Based on current consumption rates of 10g - 15g per day, it will last about 120 days. I don't think my will power will cope. I'm going to have to tell DH he can just eat it.

Hangoverstruggles · 06/04/2021 18:35

So much chocolate here! Only one egg for me and DH to share but the kids have loads! Keep pinching the little foil hollow ones - surely they don't count? 😁

Think I topped 3000 cals on Sunday. Met my parents for lunch and had a smallish plate of bbq, then mum dishes me up a slab of homemade mini egg cheesecake AND homemade banoffe!! Easily 1000 just on that plate!

Trying to be back on it today and yesterday but energy levels are very low, and my resolve is not great!

Fingers crossed for everyone that the treats don't affect the scales for long. I'm sure it was worth it!
