Yes they have new batteries. I think it was a blip as they now tell me I’m back to 9.2
I bought a new handbag by mistake instead of new scales......

FedNlanders · 26/03/2021 12:04

I have been so good yet seem to be maintaining. That said not weighed for couple days now as I forgot today so will tomorrow!

TheDogsMother · 26/03/2021 13:50

Doh I've just posted on the old thread and wondered why it was a bit lonely.

One lb off and aiming for perhaps 2 or 3 lbs more. What used to be ideal weight years ago can leave me looking a bit gaunt. Generally though it's a real struggle to keep weight down post menopause.

WellTidy · 26/03/2021 14:25

purple sweet potato for lunch sounds lovely. I will have that one day, I love sweet potato and it always feels like a treat, so an extra bonus

Fed I went through a to-to phase where I basically stayed the same for almost a fortnight, despite feeling that I’d kept on track. It’s frustrating, but the loss will come if you continue. Keep the with, as Jon Bon Jovi would say

swimming a huge well done. What an achievement

knitting I fancy a new handbag, despite not having used any of mine in almost a year, and so the ones I already have should feel almost new to me. I really like Coast for bags, but should wait until they have a sale

jelly it probably isn’t something to recommend, but I have a can of Diet Coke when I feel that I want a snack. I am on three a day. But there is plenty that tells us all not to have sweeteners when trying to lose weight, and there are plenty of those in Diet Coke. I am seeing it as a substitute for sugary snacks, so have convinced myself that it is ok for now. I’m sure there will be plenty of better advice though!

WellTidy · 26/03/2021 14:26

A yo-yo not a to-to!!

WellTidy · 26/03/2021 14:27

Keep the faith

I really must proof read!

skylover · 26/03/2021 15:25

Ooh lots of people have lost weight this week, well done!

So I've lost weight... which is basically unheard of!! 5th March 9 stone 7.4 Today 9 stone3.6 Smile Its my first week of calorie counting so let's see how the weekend goes. I've saved calories for booze and a treat dinner 👍🏽

Hey jellybe are you eating enough healthy fats and protein to keep you full? I find the more carbs I eat the more I feel hungry as they are processed in a different way in the body. Eat like you mean it 3 times a day so you are satisfied, I don't generally snack, Also keeping busy helps 😁

fed I was just reading how changing your exercise routine can help us out of a plateau... maybe worth a try?

knitting a new handbag Grin a great calorie free treat. Enjoy!

humptydumpty21 · 26/03/2021 15:49

Just stumbled across this, can I join? Lockdown has not been good to me. currently 9st 2lb, aiming for 8.
I'm currently trying IF.

Knittingnanny · 26/03/2021 16:11

Well I should have been on my annual swanning around Macy’s buying a bag but lockdown has put a stop to that. Bought a Kate Spade bag but I too love Coach bags. A bag will always fit whatever we weigh!
I have almost new bags to bring out for use when we get back to “ normal”
Defrosted 2 portions of homemade lamb casserole for tea with chickpeas stirred in and lots of green veg.
Went to Asda this morning to buy Easter eggs for my local grandchildren and resisted buying a bag of mini eggs to scoff in the car.
I also had a look at the weighing scales but really wanted to take them all out of the boxes , stand on them and choose the “ best”!

FedNlanders · 26/03/2021 16:15

I also drink lots of diet fizzy, which has its own issues i know, but starves off my snacking.

Knittingnanny · 26/03/2021 19:09

I’ve just received an Easter parcel from my lovely tall slim elegant daughter in law in Singapore and have no will power when it comes to salted caramel chocolates! I’ve made my husband hide them and ration me to 2 a day

needagirlsnight · 27/03/2021 07:21

Hello

I found this thread and feel like I've found my people!!! I'm 5ft 3 so not as short as some but still have a low tdee Sad I've managed to lose 13lb since the end of Jan doing a combination of low carb and intermittent fasting.

This week I have lost 0.4lb Hmm it's really starting to slow down now. I'm 11 stone 7lbs right now, for a BMI of 25 I would need to be 10 stone 5 but I feel comfortable around 11 stone so I would be happy with that.

Any tips for shifting these last 7lbs appreciated! I guess I should start actually exercising Blush I think I'm allergic to it Grin

Sooverthemill · 27/03/2021 10:14

I'm doing badly this week but still weigh the same. How long does it take to convert food into ponds and ounces? I have no idea. DD is so unwell and I am feeling really unwell myself now. Mildly concerned we may have Covid ironically as she had her jab Thursday and I had mine in January. Anyway, DH got me scampi and chips last night as he wanted a fancy takeaway from our son's deli. I only ate 1/3 of the chips though but I'm cross with myself. Comfort eating is my downfall!

FedNlanders · 27/03/2021 16:53

Oo scales show 9.9st this AM. So just under a lb lost since last week. Very slow now

modernfemininity · 27/03/2021 16:54

@needagirlsnight I can potter about and do strenuous housework ‘til the cows come home but I have the same problem as you. I am also allergic to formal exercise. Hmm

I feel I might have gained this week. Maintaining is hard.

WellTidy · 27/03/2021 20:07

I’m 9st 9lb this morning too Fed. I agree that it’s super slow right now and I’m being so controlled. Six mile walk today and came in at under 1000 calories.

WellTidy · 27/03/2021 20:08

So sorry to read that you and your DD are having a bad week. It all goes to pot for me when I’m not well and I never seem to lose weight when I’m under the weather. My body seems to hold on to whatever it needs to get through.

purplegirl13 · 28/03/2021 10:45

Hope you've all having a lovely weekend so far.

@Knittingnanny I'm a big fan of Kate Spade bangles, but have not purchased a bag from there before (yet). I have small wrists and find the bangles a good fit. Isn't that daughter in law so thoughtful - is she also the person that sent you the afternoon tea?

@skylover good results there! what was your booze and 'treat' dinner choice?

@jellybe I have to make sure I have planned snack options if needed, as it gives me something to reach for if I get peckish. I also wonder if you're eating enough protein during your main meals.

@TheDogsMother glad you found us!

@Sooverthemill sorry to hear it's been a tough week for you and your daughter. Chips sound lovely though, and I wouldn't feel bad. I am planning to have the same this week.

inspired by @WellTidy I went out walking yesterday - I went to bed last night having done 15k steps, I have plans to meet a friend this afternoon so hoping for at least 13k steps today.

I am committing to at least 3 long walks this week. I read something recently, and it may well have been on this thread or elsewhere on MN - it was about motivation and disciple. You don't need motivation if you have disciple. It struck a nerve. At present, I want to lose weight more than I want to eat unlimited amounts of pasta. I'm aware it's easy for me to say this right now as I've only recently started this journey, and I appreciate it will be harder to maintain that thought as time goes on.

BUT for now, I am in the zone.

I want to learn to have a better relationship with food - none of this bad/good food mentality that brings with it guilt when I've eaten a doughnut. There's absolutely nothing wrong with eating a doughnut, it's just not the best idea for me to eat 3/4 in one sitting.

I have to remind myself that yes, I am doing this for vanity but also for health, I would like to get reach a healthy bmi. The bonus will be fitting into my fantastic summer wardrobe that I've not worn for at least 3 years!

Happy Sunday x

purplegirl13 · 28/03/2021 10:50

*discipline!

Knittingnanny · 28/03/2021 10:59

Purplegirl, yes she is very thoughtful and lovely.
I too am struggling with the vanity side of weight loss and being on this thread with you youngsters has made me realise it’s been a lifetime issue for me and I still haven’t cracked the mindful eating yet.
I can sympathise totally with your comment about wanting to fit into your summer clothes more than eating lots of pasta! I feel exactly the same.
Hope you all have coped with the clocks going forward.

WellTidy · 28/03/2021 12:20

I’m at the stage where I am only losing weight for vanity reasons. I really need to fit into the clothes I have, rather than keep on buying things. And I really really can’t accept my middle as it is, so I need to do something about it. For me, the health benefits are secondary, but I know that my body will thank me for them. I know how shallow that sounds, but maybe I need to lose the weight first and then embrace the health benefits when I’ve done it.

9st 8.25lb today. So happy. I think it’s the walking coupled with staying under 1000 calories. Not sure how sustainable that is day after day but it is working for now. I am hopeful again for 9st 7lb for Easter (when I know that I will go up as I have hinted heavily to DH about an M&S champagne truffle egg, and he does well when given a hint).

Knittingnanny · 28/03/2021 13:45

Well tidy, you are absolutely right, later on your joints will benefit from keeping on top of your weight . I know that my knee arthritis pain is significantly less when I weigh in the low 9 stones than in the low ten stones. Which of course for us shorties is 10% less in a much smaller body!
I’m aware though that at my age, I could get too thin in the face , but I’ve a way to go before that happens and I have chocolate Lindt egg in the house....

Knittingnanny · 28/03/2021 13:46

.... which I plan to eat after my healthy beef casserole, green veg, Greek yogurt and berries!

WellTidy · 28/03/2021 14:00

Enjoy the Lindt knitting, sounds lovely. I have had five white chocolate mini eggs (87 cals) that I originally bought for the Dc to place in chocolate corn flakes nests that they’re making for Easter weekend, but they were really lovely and still plenty left for the DC. Treats always appreciated!

Knittingnanny · 28/03/2021 18:43

Well tidy only 5???? That was so restrained. That reminded me of my infant teaching days, at Easter time we would fold, cut and stick little boxes ( maths and DT) and when they went out to play on the last day my assistant and I would fill them with mini eggs. Any broken ones we would eat and also the blue ones which just didn’t look right in Easter baskets... hope the parents didn’t notice that our class had less in their baskets than the other year 2 class!
