I'd like to lose a few more lbs, but finding it tough. Successfully lost several stone years ago but there are always a few pounds to lose...

Being short I burn so few calories. I have to literally run at least 14km and weight train for an hour to burn 2000 calories in a day! My TDEE is around 1000.

So frustrating and tiring having to stick to 800 a day, consistently, for ages, to lose half a pound. I'm just going to sit here (hungry) and mope!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/03/2021 21:31

I think the formula indirectly factors in your height because it's unlikely someone 5'6 would want to get to 8,2/110lbs.

Imagine (oh imagine!) you were 5'6 and weighed 12 stone, you'd have a BMI of 26.9 and you want to get to 10 stone (140 lbs) which is a BMI of 22.4. Based on these calculations you'd have to eat 1680 which I'm guessing is reasonable?

skylover · 24/03/2021 23:10

Hello Shorties, I hope today had been a good one 👍🏽

I agree about the bad/food food thing purplegirl13. Especially as I have a little girl & don't want her getting caught up in that rubbish! Food is just food.

Well done on the jeans swimmingoneggshells! What a good feeling Grin I'm a new big fan of Jordan Syatt since finding out about him on this thread. Now I'm hooked! Interesting to hear the calorie cycling has worked for you. I'm giving it a go as that's kind of how I live anyway - more careful during week, more relaxed at weekend. I'm also intrigued by his 3 plates, 2 snacks thing but I think that would be too much food for me, I don't need snacks that much.

Hey garlia that sound rubbish Sad isn't such calorie restriction only meant for short term? I'd be losing my mind so no wonder you are mopey.

Sooverthemill · 25/03/2021 08:43

Had a terrible day yesterday with DD and guessing today will be hard too as I've been up with her since 3.30! For dinner last night DH went out for fish and chips ( first since Easter last year) and it was soooo good. I didn't eat all of it but enough to utterly enjoy it. Tonight I'm hoping to make a veggie risotto if DD improves otherwise it's a microwave something or other from the freezer, thank goodness I believe that one crap day doesn't destroy my motivation

Pickledpenguin · 25/03/2021 08:46

Hi I am new here to weightloss boards but delighted to see one for us shorter folk.
I am 5’ and 11st 5 so clearly need to do something. What video are you all referring to? I need all the help I can get.

WellTidy · 25/03/2021 10:10

Yo-yo-ed back down to 9st 9.25lb again this morning. Up and down, up and down I go! I’ve been for an eight mile walk today so I am motivated not to undo the good work and hope to get under 9st 9.25lb tomorrow morning.

The calculator is really interesting. I would love to be 8st 7lb (117lb) in a perfect world, but doubt I will get there, given the yoyoing around 9st 9-10lb that I’ve been doing for the last couple of weeks. That x12 calculates me at 1404 calories a day, but my TDEE is 1434 calories a day, which I never consume.

Am I not eating enough to lose weight more quickly?! Surely not!

WellTidy · 25/03/2021 10:15

Pickled the fluctuations video (if that’s the one you mean) is linked to in swimming’s post of 16th March 2021 above at 10:00. I found it a revelation!

2021youpromisedyoudbebetter · 25/03/2021 10:26

Morning everyone. @purplegirl13 agree about the good and bad foods, like @skylover I have a little girl and try and be quite conscious about how we talk about bodies and food around her. Easier said then done, and you realise how deeply embedded some of these ideas are.

Today has got off to a good start, been for a walk already and have a long day of sanding woodwork ahead of me (the joy).

B - 2 wheetabix, semi skimmed milk
L- cous cous feta chickpea salad (had crustless quiche and salad yday instead so need to eat this up)
D - veggie lentil moussaka

S- none planned but full fruit basket including pears (my absolute favourite!)

Hope everyone has a good day, hope your day gets better @Sooverthemill

purplegirl13 · 25/03/2021 11:46

A quick post for accountability

B - greek yogurt and frozen berries
L - chickpea and lentil soup with the last of the kale (ended up having a sandwich in the park yesterday)
S - boiled egg
D - quinoa, feta, and avocado salad

I need to buy new scales, apparently I now weigh 9st 6 after being 9 st 2 yesterday!

AuldFox · 25/03/2021 13:15

That doesn’t sound right at all, definitely need some fancy new scales!

WellTidy · 25/03/2021 13:19

knitting that’s one of my lasting fears, that my scales weigh me as lighter than somebody else’s! Knowing that I still have a stone to lose, that would be a bit falling. I’m sure yours just need you to have a strong word with them.

Knittingnanny · 25/03/2021 20:16

I’m perusing Amazon now
Yes I’m a bit worried that a brand new pair of scales might add on half a stone!

Zoomoff · 25/03/2021 21:03

Not having a good food day today. I was up and down half the night with the dog and went back to bed after the kids had left for school. Had crunchy nut cornflakes for late breakfast, a cuppa soup and bag of crisps for lunch. Just tucked into half a chow mein and around a quarter portion of crispy beef plus half a bag of chips. We have a plumber coming tomorrow to do a couple of jobs in both bathrooms so gave both of them a deep clean today and ran out of time to eat properly before I started work. I need to go food shopping too as we had nothing in that would have been filling and reasonably healthy Sad

Greycurtainswithdiamonf · 26/03/2021 07:54

Today is a new day Zoom. It’s fine to have a day like yesterday. Let it go. Onwards.

whoami24601 · 26/03/2021 07:58

Checking in at 10st 7.75lb which means I've put on 3/4 lb from last week. Not great but I have been a bit greedy this week! Onwards and upwards.

Garlia · 26/03/2021 08:03

My MILs scales always weigh me as 4 lbs lighter than mine at home.

I like those scales...

WellTidy · 26/03/2021 08:06

Soover and Zoom Not to worry. Start over again today and put it behind you. Days like those are to be expected. Don’t let it detract from the main goal.

I have lost 0.5lb and am now 9st 8.75lb for the first time in nearly two years. I think the eight mile walk yesterday helped, as not only was it exercise, it made me not want to undo the benefit of the walk by making poor choices. Determined to keep going. 1st 5lb down since the start of the year.

Hope you all have good days.

WellTidy · 26/03/2021 08:07

Garlia Those scales sound perfect! Though I don’t dare trying anyone else’s just in case it goes the other way. I’d not react well at all! Silly really.

purplegirl13 · 26/03/2021 08:22

Hi All

I wish you all well in your weight loss journey, this is not easy so do be kind to yourselves.

I am pleased to report a 1lb loss so I'm now down to 10st6. I only ever expect a 0.5lb loss so anything more is a nice bonus!

@Knittingnanny have you tried changing the batteries? I know when my batteries are low the readings are a bit off.

@WellTidy good result there. Your posts about those walks make me feel inspired to get out more. I am guilty of becoming a bit hermit-like. Before covid, I would do at least 12k steps daily.

B - cottage cheese and frozen berries
L - sweet potato with cheese and beans
D - cauli rice stir fried with mushrooms, spinach and tofu. This will be my first time having cauliflower rice so I'm a bit wary.
S - boiled egg

Happy Friday my fellow shorties.

Tagagzjskva · 26/03/2021 08:32

Hi please can I join.

My starting weight was 12’12. I’m almost 5’3 😆 I want to have a healthy BMI. My current goal is to be in the overweight category in the next few weeks

I’m currently 12’9 albeit extremely bloated due to an endo flare

I’m on 1500-1600 cals under a PT but not seeing it as a target to get to

Notavegan · 26/03/2021 08:38

I'm more or less maintaining as I can't behave at the weekend. Going to try and be good this weekend to see if I can have some momentum before Easter hits. I can't exercise as much in school holidays either as have primary age kids.

jellybe · 26/03/2021 09:12

Morning, so I'm really struggling to get my eating under control. My logical brain knows it is just something I'm doing out of boredom but my calorie counting has gone to absolute pot this week. 🤦‍♀️

What do the rest of you do to stop yourselves from just snacking constantly?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 26/03/2021 09:18

Weigh in Friday for me, and I'm down 1/2 a lb, woo! At a new low of 8 stone 9.5lbs.

But the downside is that I've only lost about a 1lb this month, very, very slow progress. I'm feeling more in the zone again now so hopefully I can get to 8 and a half stone (or beyond) by summer.

@WellTidy wow, I didn't realise you'd lost so much, so quickly. That's very impressive.

@Zoomoff write yesterday off, it's all about getting back on the wagon :)

Morningmaeve · 26/03/2021 09:27

Hello all - half a pound off for me too so now at 9st 2.2lb. Have definitely been more disciplined but it all tends to go a bit haywire at the weekend so I'll need to be mindful of that. @jellybe - I have trained myself to not snack. Only eat three times a day so nothing between meals. Maybe you could limit snacks to two a day?
