Ok, I'm all caught up, so this might be a bit long...

@Fluffbutt how did you get on over the weekend?

@Knittingnanny lovely to hear about the dresses fitting you better, or even needing taking in!

@WellTidy that is a lovely drop to wake up to this morning, hopefully it'll spur you on to stay on track. Re socialising - I'm the same, I don't know how to say no to items when everyone else is having them, and then once I've had wine, I can't make sensible my food choices. Try and get out for a walk this week if you can, you'll feel much better for it (plus selfishly, your walks were motivating me to do similar)

@Sooverthemill I'm glad you enjoyed your little holiday with DH away.

@BlodwinTheThird I'm optimistically hoping to still be under 10st this Friday, If I stay on track until then. Your 3.5lb gain isn't the 5-7lbs you were expecting, so take that and I agree with welltidy that if it's gone on quickly, it does seem to come down faster than you would expect.

@lemonsaretheonlyfruit welcome! I (re)started in March at 10st8.8 and last Friday just about made it in to the 9's (9st13.8). Like you, I periodically try to lose, do lose (a few lbs) and then stop tracking. This is the longest I've consistently kept going. I've definitely slipped up along the way, but I haven't given up - I'm still trying. I've found breaking into smaller goals less overwhelming - so goal 1. 1/2 stone lost. Goal 2. Reaching 10st. Goal 3. 1st lost. Each goal is a max of 7lbs between them.
Oh, I have kefir for breakfast sometimes as I'm trying to up my intake of food/drinks good for my gut (I have IBD). I'm not a massive breakfast fan (unless it's toast) so alternate between kefir, or greek yogurt and berries. Why not trying switching to greek yogurt as it's higher in protein so might keep you fuller.

@Morningmaeve glad to hear you've restarted C25K. I'm back to it tomorrow, a week after my last run.

@neverenoughchelseaboots it's those pesky bad habits (and chocolate/wine/cake/pastries etc) that trip us up each time. I also find when I eat better nutritiously, I don't feel so sluggish.

I hope I've not missed anyone, it is great to hear your updates.
@SwimmingOnEggshells how are you getting on?

Today:
B - 2 crumpets with jam
L - bread roll with avocado, tomato, goats cheese
D - tbc, maybe eggs (def. no more carbs)

I got my steps up when away, Sat - 11k steps, Sun, 18k, and I'm at 8k so far today. I'm hoping that might mitigate some of the wine calories from the weekend.

Sooverthemill · 08/06/2021 07:05

@Knittingnanny where are you? We are Southwold which basically means we share it with all manner of film and theatre folk. Richard Curtis and his huge family for example live in the village next door and frequently have visitors ( my son nearly hyperventilated when he served Kiera knightly a coffee). DH is always coming back from town telling me of the famous persons he has seen in the bakery. I wouldn't recognise them I think. Our former cleaner lives with a really famous actor I can never remember the name of who starred in ( amongst many others) all the Lord of the Rings films and they have dinner parties with an amazing crowd! It's quite entertaining

purplegirl13 · 08/06/2021 08:45

I'm bang on 10st this morning which I'm happy with given the weekend away. I need to see if I can edge into the 9's in time for Friday weigh in.

My friends little girl (who l spent all weekend with) needed to be collected from nursery yesterday due to high temperature. I'm self- isolating now until her covid test comes back. I'm sure it'll just be the warmer weather so not overly worried. Plus at her age (18 months) children seem to have a permanent cold/ snotty nose etc

purplegirl13 · 08/06/2021 08:49

Today's plan:
B - nothing as have no yogurt/ kefir in
L - scrambled eggs, with half an avocado, cherry tomatoes, spring onion, and cheese (feta or cheddar)
D - possibly chilli paneer and rice
S - cherries

Knittingnanny · 08/06/2021 09:01

@Sooverthemill not as glamorous as Southwold, which is on our holiday plan for next uk trip! We have never been to Suffolk so looking to book a cottage either July or October. Gosport, across the ferry from Portsmouth.

purplegirl13 · 08/06/2021 10:29

Well, I've just picked up a 7 day course of antibiotics and absolutely no alcohol allowed whilst taking them, or 48hrs after! This will help with weight loss journey but was looking forward to wine/prosecco during dinner with friends on Saturday and Monday. The antibiotics will just about be out of my system in time for me to have a drink on my birthday next week.

Knittingnanny · 08/06/2021 11:25

@purplegirl13 I will wear and enjoy the couple of size ten dresses ( still a bit tight over my dd’s though) whilst I can!
I’ll post the photo dh has just taken of me in my size ten dress! I’ve just registered on a film and tv extras website in a bid to start a new career! It needed a 3/4 length photo so here it is....

Knittingnanny · 08/06/2021 11:27

Tada!!!

Knittingnanny · 08/06/2021 11:27

Oops no photo!

Knittingnanny · 08/06/2021 11:37

And tonight I’m going to research a cottage for two in Suffolk.
We plan to stop at Cambridge maybe for a night as well.
The size tens won’t fit me after a holiday though! Bit warmer here today so I’ll try and do some extra walking, maybe will pick up the baby on the way and push the pram for extra calorie usage!

Knittingnanny · 08/06/2021 11:49

Made a spicy curry yesterday for dh and I had omelette but spoiled it later by the second sharing ( not) bag of lentil crisps. Once they are gone they are gone.
Breadcrumbed the rest of the chicken pieces to have with salad tonight

SwimmingOnEggshells · 08/06/2021 21:29

Hello everyone, I've been avoiding the thread and the scales too. You all know what that means! Bank holiday here last weekend and I ate way too much and there was a fair bit of wine in there too. I'm away this weekend so I probably won't be on the thread much but I'll be back at it again next week. Hopefully I don't do too much damage on my break. I plan on weighing tomorrow and recording that.

@purplegirl13 is it flagyl you're on? They are lethal antibiotics, definitely don't drink on them, you'll be so sick!

@Knittingnanny you look great in that photo! So svelte.

@lemonsaretheonlyfruit hello! Intermittent fasting can be a great way to lose weight and I've had success with it. The key to all of this weight loss lark seems to be consistency. I'm not always consistent, I slip up A LOT but I've still managed to lose.

purplegirl13 · 08/06/2021 21:57

@Knittingnanny you look lovely in the pic - I have arm envy!! Even at 8st, I have chunky upper arms, now at 10st they are looking very cottage cheesy right now, so I need to start dry brushing and massaging the heck out of them.

@SwimmingOnEggshells yes, it is flagyl so thanks for that warning. I did guess you might have temporarily hopped out of the zone Wink I think we've all learnt by now, the trick is to keep coming back so absolutely enjoy your break and we'll see you back here when you're ready x

Knittingnanny · 08/06/2021 23:00

@purplegirl13 @SwimmingOnEggshells thank you, but I can assure you that close up my arms are very crepey!

yoyo1234 · 09/06/2021 07:34

I'm definitely in this category! 5 ft 2 , not sure of weight avoiding scales bit if stick to my new diet hope to have courage to weigh myself in a few days to see the damage. Currently trying to eat during 8 hour window in a day and cut back on obvious wheat. I think it can be so tough on us shorter people as extra weight shows more.

Amaura · 09/06/2021 07:44

Weight creeping up (despite being the most active I’ve ever been) so having another go at sticking to this thread.

Especially since I’ll want to wear my trousers when summer ends and at the moment they would be too tight

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/06/2021 09:58

@purplegirl13 I hate my upper arms too, even when I'm skinny I have cellulite. I've never dry brushed, does it work?

purplegirl13 · 09/06/2021 10:10

@SwimmingOnEggshells I'm not sure as I never do it regularly! I figure it can't hurt www.byrdie.com/dry-brushing-body

My younger sister mocked me for my 'fat' arms when I was a teenager and it gave me such a complex that it was years before I exposed my upper arms, even now I struggle to feel comfortable wearing sleeveless clothing. Siblings...sigh.

Tbh, as part of this journey, I'm trying to take better care of myself - a couple of examples...I barely moisturise after showering and want to change that and massage my cellulite-y arms regularly to see if that helps, I've started to get hormonal acne so want to do a few more face masks etc.

ILikePizzaAndWine · 09/06/2021 11:54

I came, and then I went! Sorry, life got busy. Weight pretty much stayed the same for weeks (totally expected tbh) but all of a sudden, after coming home from holiday and gaining 2lbs, I've lost them again, and 2 others!! Maybe my running is paying off?

TBH. I'd be happy if my face, upper arms, and tummy just looked better!

Sooverthemill · 10/06/2021 09:59

@Knittingnanny yay! Great idea. My advice for Suffolk is avoid school holidays ( including the longer private schools) as it is a,ways heaving. Although I rarely leave the house DH is reporting that already Southwold is impossible to walk sensibly down the high street and the beach front is busy. He hasn't been able to get bread for days as the queues are too long. It's madness. So many second homes here. When we moved here 4 years ago we assumed I'd be able to get a similar level of support as in our old county and that never worked out even though we've advertised privately and so my planned walks on the beach for an hour off looking after DD has never happened. I think I have stepped onto the beach once since we moved!

Sooverthemill · 10/06/2021 10:00

Oh and I weighed today out of sync as I've had a bad week with very poorly DD and am happy to,report I'm just under 9 st again so that's made me happy. So stupid but I am pleased.

purplegirl13 · 10/06/2021 10:19

welcome @yoyo1234 @Amaura how did you both get on yesterday?

@ILikePizzaAndWine good job on the loss

@Sooverthemill seeing under 9st is a great boost

I am a bit all over the place, mostly nutritious but a bit carb heavy than I would have liked yesterday.

Today's plan -
B - greek yogurt, strawberries, honey and flaked almonds
L - gazpacho (possibly with crackers and cheese)
D - salad leaves with puy lentils and boiled egg
S - blackberries (if needed)

purplegirl13 · 10/06/2021 10:21

I should say that I did see under 10st on scales today, so that's motivating me to keep on track today. Antibiotics have given me a poorly tummy so the scales might be reflecting this due to a bit of dehydration.

BlodwinTheThird · 10/06/2021 10:24

I saw under 10st on the scales today too (just). Shhh, don’t speak too loudly or you’ll scare it away.

purplegirl13 · 10/06/2021 10:30

@BlodwinTheThird oh no, I too should have whispered it Wink
As much as I'm annoyed to not be able to drink alcohol whilst taking these antibiotics, especially as I have 2 dinners out and my birthday next week, it'll hopefully work in my favour to not have the extra wine calories and I can substitute with food instead
