Blimey, I’ve been off the wagon since Friday - eating out at friends or in pubs and haven’t been able to resist, and loads of booze in the lovely weather too 😬. Not aiming to weigh this week and get back on it the week after but even then I reckon I’ll be half a stone up.

Ah well, not seen people for so long. It will set my goal back but to be honest I’ve never stick to a ‘diet’ this long so as long as I get back on it hopefully it won’t have been all for naught.

I hope everyone is having a lovely bank holiday in the sun 😎

purplegirl13 · 01/06/2021 10:36

@Sooverthemill I don't know whether to thank you or curse you for the cheese and potato pie recipe. I ate more than half (and it was a HUGE pie). I've packed the rest up to send to my mum if I don't eat it first
I didn't top with another pastry sheet so it felt a bit more quiche like, but ooh the cheesy goodness. I might have eaten 2 days worth of calories with that pie. Worth it.

@BlodwinTheThird I'm realising the trick to this losing weight lark is for us to keep getting back to it, do absolutely enjoy this week for what it is and then come back to us next week.

@SwimmingOnEggshells It sounds like you've done well, and I'm impressed you had soup yesterday! It wasn't too warm for you yesterday? Sounds like you've done well, I've turned ice cream into one of my main food groups.

@neverenoughchelseaboots but what do you do with your DD's leftovers?! I know I would just eat them, as proved whenever I'm around my nephew.

My eating has been a bit all over the place, so I need to see if I can keep on track for the next few days as I'm visiting friends for the weekend. The plan until Friday eve is 3 main meals (from scratch or minimally processed) and snacks will ideally be fruit, cucumber/houmous, or nuts. Ice lollies instead of ice cream.

purplegirl13 · 01/06/2021 10:39

@Morningmaeve come join me with C25K! I'm about to head out for my second run now

Today's plan:
B - kefir
L - tabbouleh type salad using up whatever I have in
D - chickpea and cauliflower curry, and brown rice (curry is homemade and will be coming out of the freezer)
S - ice lolly, blackberries and squirty cream

SwimmingOnEggshells · 01/06/2021 12:24

I've given up on cooking soups, these days I just buy them and I don't seem to get too hot, if I had to go to all the trouble of cooking them I think I'd be melting.

So I more or less stuck to plan yesterday, but I made myself a mint choc cone last night.

Today
coffee
soup again
Dinner not so sure, not in the mood for cooking!

purplegirl13 · 01/06/2021 12:37

@SwimmingOnEggshells I've been buying soups as well. I'm planning to buy gazpacho when I go out later as it's the weather for it. I'm going to a 'big' supermarket near me for the first time since March 2020! I have stuck to the local greengrocers or the small 'express' stores.

I did my second C25k 'run' and am gobsmacked I found it very slightly easier! On Sunday I could only manage 30-35 secs of the 60 sec jog and today I could do an extra 5-10 seconds. Amazing. Just need to stick to it

Sooverthemill · 02/06/2021 11:08

@purplegirl13 I'm so sorry! Isn't it fabulous though? I really miss that pie ( am now gluten and lactose free due to intolerance being finally diagnosed).

I've dropped off the thread. Having such a rough time with DD. But this morning b I tired in 2 old skirts which I love and they do up but bunch over my tummy. So, I'm going to try really hard to lose 4 pounds and then see how it goes. I love summer and love all my summer clothes

Sooverthemill · 02/06/2021 11:09

How the hell did that autocorrect? This morning I tried on 2 old skirts...

WellTidy · 02/06/2021 14:34

Lovely to catch up with all your news. Socialising for the first time in soooooo long is messing up with my weight loss. I’ve had a fabulous time with friends and family, and I’m very lucky to have just stayed the same overall for a month. We have plans for every weekend now for over a month. I don’t know how I am going to lose weight, even if I stick to my plan Monday to Friday, the weekends are going to involve some drinks and some extra food, and that’s enough to stop me losing overall.

I am 9st 4.5lb today and hoping for a small loss by this time next week.

Well done @purplegirl13 on the c25k. I have been thinking of doing it for about five years. I bought gym kit with the intention of starting five years ago and it still has tags on. I can fit into it now, so I may well try. I haven’t walked for about ten days, I’ve really fallen off the wagon.

I am also overdosing on the Diet Coke as it is so hot!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 02/06/2021 15:40

Yeah I haven't been great either, I was snacking last night on Tuc and Philadelphia and I've had ice creams, a g&t...and then chocolate today. Sigh. I'm moseying on though.

How's your gardening going @WellTidy? I'm delighted with the bit of sun, everything is finally starting to grow :) My sweet peas have really taken off.

WellTidy · 02/06/2021 15:50

@SwimmingOnEggshells my garden has really taken off too. Everything is bigger and better than before! It is changing day to day! I’m particularly loving the scent of the two lilacs I have near the patio, and two of my roses opened this morning. I planted some astrantia major last week and it is really bushy already. We bought a massive cantilever parasol last year and it means that our table and chairs on the patio is constantly in shade, so I’m out there a lot. I have the week off work, I don’t normally sit in the garden all day!

WellTidy · 02/06/2021 15:53

Ds also has cooking classes every day this week during half term. He loves to cook and the class is perfect for him. They make a main which they eat there (so he doesn’t even need feeding when he comes home - result!) and something sweet to bring home. Yesterday it was chocolate cupcakes, and they were fantastic. Today it is fruity flapjack, which he has made before, and it is amazing. I can’t not eat what he cooks, he’d be gutted. No wonder I’m not losing weight!

purplegirl13 · 03/06/2021 10:57

@Sooverthemill I'll make that pie again, but maybe not for while. Good news those skirts do up at least, I have a great summer wardrobe that I've not been able to wear for a few years.
I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time.

@WellTidy Very impressed that you're at least managed to stayed the same overall, maybe you just focus on maintaining for a bit? I'm feeling similar and not sure how I'll lose with some socialising - I'm away this weekend, and then have a number of upcoming dinners out scheduled and have my birthday coming up.
How were the flapjacks?
Oh, and absolutely come join me on the C25K journey!

@SwimmingOnEggshells I'm struggling to hold on to any motivation. I start each morning with the best of intentions and then just can't seem to get there. Every time I've tried to lose weight over the last few years, I do this - I lose a bit of weight, feel good and then stop all effort. Restart again 6-12 months later. Repeat.

I think staying on here though will be key to keep me plodding along.

WellTidy · 03/06/2021 16:47

Flapjack was amazing, as I knew it would be. I only had a small amount, but it was fantastic. He has come home with lemon drizzle cake today. Again, I only had a small slice but I am both averaging cake and a mini magnum every day now. I am not feeling like meals though as I’m too uncomfortable.

And three cans of Diet Coke. It is so hot here! The car tells me that it is 27 degrees (in the sun). I don’t tolerate heat well (my body doesn’t sweat properly) so today isn’t the day for me to start c25k but I have cleaned out the shed and washed all the children’s toys down and put it all back together. I am melting. Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels planned for dinner. Anything to avoid putting the oven on in this heat!

1/4lb down this morning, to 9st 4.25lb. My low about five weeks ago was 9st 3.5lb, so that’s a target, but I agree that staying the same given the heat and social life right now would be a result.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 03/06/2021 20:29

@WellTidy it would be very rude not to have some of the food he's made, sure you have no other choice!

@purplegirl13 ach I know, it's just so hard to stay motivated. I've stalled again if it's any consolation. Snacks in the evening and some alcohol too. I'm so weak! Don't think I'll be logging a loss at all tomorrow. Likely a gain.

Did you do a run again today? I used to do a lot of running but due to various injuries I don't anymore. What I remember is that my fitness would increase really quickly. It's amazing how your body adjusts.

purplegirl13 · 03/06/2021 20:49

@WellTidy I love the sun and heat, but not in my flat (with no garden). My living room is a sun trap - almost 28c there this afternoon! That's with blinds/curtains closed. I hid in the bedroom (noticeably cooler) and I didn't even need a fan.
I am sure cleaning out the shed would have burned some calories!

@SwimmingOnEggshells I'm making a point of staying on the thread, during the ups and the downs, to try and keep me at least near the 'zone' even if I'm not there yet. We'll get back to it I'm sure.
No run today, which means I have to do it tomorrow. I am excited to see how I get on.

humptydumpty21 · 04/06/2021 10:02

Stuck at 8.6 again, I am really going to try and give myself a push this week.

Hope you all did well!

purplegirl13 · 04/06/2021 10:07

I am not sure this is real, but the scales are showing 9st13.8! I'll take it and I hope I see it again. I am am away visiting friends this weekend so will fully indulge and get back to it on Monday.

Good luck to those weighing in today

Fluffbutt · 04/06/2021 10:36

Hi all. I’m just starting my weight loss journey. Saturday was breaking point for me. I’d been to a bbq and looked at the photos that night. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m fat. I had been in such denial!

Anyway, I vowed there and then to change it. So I’m on 1100-1200 calories a day (MFP) since Sunday. Friends keep saying it’s far too low but I’m 5’ 1”, 42yo, and my not-skinny, pre-pregnancy weight was always around 8.5 stone. I weighted in at 10st 9 on Sunday.

I have the added complication of T1 diabetes and balancing my insulin needs very carefully so that my blood sugars don’t go too low and require fruit juice or lucozade to bring it back up. It’s going ok so far but my blood sugars are subsequently running a little high.

Other than that I’m finding 1200 calories fine if I’m frugal with snacks!

Anyway, I’m really glad to find this thread and look forward to checking in with you all to see how you’re doing.

Sooverthemill · 04/06/2021 10:39

@Fluffbutt I did the Mosley low GI diet in 2005 to lose my baby weight. It worked well and as far as I recall is supposed to be good for diabetics. Might be worth a look

Fluffbutt · 04/06/2021 10:59

@ Sooverthemill Thanks for the tip. 800 calories scares me a bit as an insulin user with quite a variable basal rate.

It’s trickier than type 2 diabetes, which I think the Fast 800 is ideal for.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 04/06/2021 11:58

Well done @purplegirl13, you've broken into the 9s!! I'm down 1/2 lb on last week but not as low as I saw two weeks ago. I'm basically bobbing about at the same weight.

@Fluffbutt welcome! having T1 diabetes is tough at the best of times, never mind when you're trying to lose weight. I would say 1200 is a little low as well, 1400 and you should still lose.

Morningmaeve · 04/06/2021 12:49

Hello all - and welcome @Fluffbutt. I'm not weighing today as I know it wouldn't be good news. We were away for a few days and I enjoyed it and that included eating and drinking what I fancied. Back on it from Monday and I will join you in restarting C25K @purplegirl13 Smile

ApplePenPineapplePen · 04/06/2021 13:58

Down to 13st 7.3 today. That's 2.7lbs off in the last week although I started taking action 2 weeks ago. Just need to keep it up for a few months!

Sooverthemill · 04/06/2021 15:34

Ah I don't mean the fasting diet that is pretty recent. I got the name wrong it's Rick Gallop. He has a book that is £2.99 these days. I still use it from time to time and it's how I plan my meals : substitute any carbohydrate with brown carbs eg brown pasta or rice, cut down on sugar, have 203 roughly same size meals eg around 360 calories and about 200 calories for snacks. Use your hand as portion guide for carbs, a playing card size of protein, half your plate for veg. Don't add fruit with your breakfast, save it for snack later etc. I lost a stone and half in 4 months by doing that and increasing my walking to 10000 steps. And my weight stayed off until I had cancer in 2012. Then I used it nice I was well to get back to the weight I feel healthy at. I need to push myself to do it again properly now but I'm just so knackered with poorly DD
purplegirl13 · 04/06/2021 16:05

@Fluffbutt welcome! I would also agree you can up your calories and still lose weight. I started at 1200 but soon went up to 1350 calories and have been losing, and tbh that's with going over some days, even with the odd day or two at 1600--1700. I am the same height and age as you, and started at where you are. You'll see though it's a slow journey but I felt if I stayed too long at 1200cals, I'd have given up by ow.

@SwimmingOnEggshells Hitting the 9's seems to be motivating me now. My hope for June is to maintain staying under 10st. I'd love to keep losing even if it's only 0.2-0.3lb a week but will focus more on not gaining for now, giving the meals out I have planned.
Well done on losing the 1/2lb, it''s a loss and you've done well to try and find your way back.

@Morningmaeve yay to having a C25K buddy Smile. I'm waiting for the rain to die down so I can hopefully get out for W1R3 this evening.I am glad you enjoyed your time away, and the food/drinks that came along with it.

@ApplePenPineapplePen good loss there!
