I'm ovulating too which is always when I lose all restraint - too much wine and carbs ( could live on McDonalds or takeaways right now). I'm not usually a chocolate person, but got trapped in the wine and chocolate aisle of the corner shop last night because of the one way system and very narrow aisles. And I've just remembered I ate two custard slices on Friday as nobody else likes them.

I'm starting a new part time job in a fortnight and have a few new clothes in the wardrobe a size smaller than I'm wearing now. Going to have to sort myself out so I can get into them.

Good luck tomorrow @purplegirl13

Badgerstmary · 23/05/2021 21:45

Thanks for making me feel so welcome everybody. 😃
I have found writing everything down works for me. I was given a diary for Christmas, never normally use one, & the 1st few months it was empty due to covid. My diary now has a purpose & it helps stop me overeating & snacking too much.

purplegirl13 · 24/05/2021 10:56

I had 2 cheese toasties last night and this was a few hours after my early dinner. I wasn't even hungry. Anyway it's done now.

@SwimmingOnEggshells with my medical history, I don't think beta blockers are an option but will raise it with my cardiologist at my next appt (on the off-chance). Good call on the rescue remedy, I'll pop out and get some at lunch-time.
It sounds like you had lovely meals on Saturday!

Thank you all all the good wishes.
I'm so anxious, I hate interviews. Once I come off here, I'll hone down a few examples (for my peace of mind) and then ensure I have a 2 hour breather before my interview. It's a zoom interview with 3 people on the panel, haven't been interview by 3 people in years! Once I start, I am sure I will be fine.

I am going to force myself to have toast, but experience shows I won't keep it down but better to try and eat something now.

Have a good day everyone

Knittingnanny · 24/05/2021 12:50

@Badgerstmary me too, I find I underestimate my calories if I’m not honest and write everything down. Old school , in a note book with annotations and smiley faces if appropriate,
@purplegirl13 good luck with your interview, what sort of job is it?

Back on track today I think, one scrambled egg on toast for first meal ( about 11) then a freezer cottage pie from last weeks big cooking session with lots of green veg followed by Greek yog and berries for tea
Banana snack if climbing the wall to get to that bloody birthday chocolate still sitting looking at me!
Started a new knitting project last night during Call the Midwife” to stop me wrenching them out of his hand.
Did you watch call the midwife last night? Would they really have said 8 cm dilated in 1967???? Think they were using fingers not cm to measure then

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/05/2021 14:02

Doing well here. After the excess of Saturday night, yesterday I had:

Porridge
a small chicken and avocado sandwich
Small portion of homemade chicken curry and rice
2 freddo bars

Today:
Coffee
scrambled egg and toast with a decent amount of butter
1 x freddo
Spinach pie and baby roast potatoes

I hope everyone is doing well :)

purplegirl13 · 24/05/2021 15:28

Well, I completely messed up that interview - I was so nervous that I was sweating by the end of it. I didn't answer well, or give good examples and just rambled on. I feel incredibly emotional now so will definitely be getting a takeaway and dessert tonight.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/05/2021 15:44

Oh @purplegirl13 I'm sure you weren't that bad! everyone finds interviews hard. And they won't know you were sweating if it was on zoom. I bloody hate interviews so know how you feel. Enjoy the take away and dessert Flowers

purplegirl13 · 24/05/2021 18:04

I have had pizza and tiramisu. Still feeling emotional but guess that's me processing the anxiety and nerves, had a little cry. It really was a bad interview, the whole thing is a blur to me. Will do my best not to dwell on it and start afresh tomorrow.

Hope you're all having a better day.

BlodwinTheThird · 24/05/2021 22:07

Keeping fingers crossed for you @purplegirl13 - you never know! If all else, it’s good practice.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 25/05/2021 08:32

I agree with Blodwin, Purple. Try and work out what questions were bad or what made it so tough as prep for next time. And it will always feel worse to the interviewee.

Hope everyone is doing well. x

@purplegirl13 I would ask for feedback, although it may feel embarrassing it's really helpful for the next time you interview.

Well I'm just under 9 stone this morning thank goodness. Probably helped by the fact that DH forgot to buy my gluten free bread at the weekend and we have run out of barista oat milk so I can't eat bread or drink endless coffee! We had DD1 and fiancé around at the weekend ( staying elsewhere as she's not vaccinated) and although I barely saw anyone ( they went out a lot with DH and DS who lives fairly nearby) it me at I didn't eat. I know I eat more when DH is here. He's meant to be going to see his very elderly demented mum soon and I cannot wait for the peace and quiet ( he used to work away in the week then bloody Covid stole my peace and quiet) , the ability to have a boiled egg for dinner and the chance to watch something I like in TV.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 25/05/2021 10:10

Good advice from @Sooverthemill, definitely get feedback if you can. And well done on getting under 9st, that's a great achievement!

Yesterday I had:
Coffee
Scrambled egg and toast
A freddo
A tiny bit of roast baby potatoes, but LOTS of spinach and feta pie.
Then I ate two of those mini caramel bars. It's just so hard to stay off chocolate and our house seems to be FULL of it. I blame the stress of Mare of Eastown, anyone watching? 😬

Today the plan is coffee
Leftover slice of spinach pie
Bean enchiladas with guac

WellTidy · 25/05/2021 10:23

Great to catch up with all your news.

@purplegirl13 I hope you’re feeling better today. I get very anxious indeed in situations like that and I feel your pain.

@Sooverthemill Under 9 stone is incredible! Well done.

I’ve fallen off the wagon, like many of you, but I’m back on. I’ve lost the 2 pounds that I gained after my massive mid week splurge a week ago, so Im back at 9st 3.5lb and hoping to see more progress. Life has been busy so I haven’t walked for a week. Im hoping that a long walk will give me a bit of a whoosh. But my mum is coming to stay today for a few days (haven’t seen her in 10 months due to Covid), and I know that I will feel bad about just taking myself for a two hour walk, and her health means that she can’t come with me. Maybe I just need to get up at 6am and get my walk in before she wakes!

I hope you’re all kind to yourselves following your splurges. I will say what you all said to me, which is quite true: today is a new day and you will lose any gain over time. Bonus points for the splurge being particularly delicious!

purplegirl13 · 25/05/2021 11:08

Aww, you're all so lovely! Thank you for your kind words, I'm still feeling low this morning but will be kind to myself. I feel very embarrassed that I turned into such a rambling mess but can see now that I just needed to breathe and think about my answers before opening my mouth. I've been fortunate enough to get the last 5 roles I've interviewed for so doing badly yesterday upset me. No beating myself up allowed, I will learn from it, and definitely ask for feedback once they confirm I didn't make it to second stage.

I only had half a pizza and a portion of tiramisu yesterday (didn't keep down the toast, as expected).

Today:
leftover pizza for brunch
S - kefir drink
D - red thai tofu curry (from freezer) with brown rice

@Sooverthemill well done on getting under the 9st mark!

@SwimmingOnEggshells I have heard good things about the Mare of Eastown and, once I'm earning, plan to buy a nowtv pass to watch it. You did well to stick to 2 of those choc bars - living alone makes avoiding food I can't resist much easier. Was the spinach and feta pie made with filo?

@WellTidy glad you're back on the wagon, we've all been there. Perhaps don't aim for a 2 hour walk, but even 30mins - 1 hr will make you feel better. To be fair, the weather really hasn't helped recently.

Wishing you all a good day

SwimmingOnEggshells · 25/05/2021 11:27

@purplegirl13 no puff pastry which is probably worse for you, but it was delicious! I saute half an onion, set it aside, then wilt 2.5 bags of spinach (500g), then add a whisked egg, add the sauteed onion and then a block of crumbled feta. Mix it well and spoon into a quiche dish. Then I top it with bought puff pastry and brush the top with olive oil. Finally bake for 30-40 minute or until the top is golden. Soooooo good!

Traditionally it should be with filo but I prefer puff :)

Knittingnanny · 25/05/2021 15:46

I now want Freddo frog chocolate and puff pastry
Makes my salmon and mushroom stir fry sound very boring!

purplegirl13 · 25/05/2021 16:53

@SwimmingOnEggshells This is the one I normally make www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/crispy-greek-style-pie but I love puff pastry so will definitely try it your way one day.

I'm feeling much better this afternoon, had a lovely catch up with a friend over the phone this morning which helped distract me from wallowing over the interview.

I've stayed on track with my planned meals today except for the addition of some rye crackers and cottage cheese. I would love to see 10st or under on Friday so hoping that'll motivate me over the next 2 days

purplegirl13 · 25/05/2021 16:55

Also, does anyone have any vegetarian suggestions for me which uses shortcrust pastry? I have some sitting in the freezer to be used, I can only think of quiche.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 25/05/2021 16:56

Ah yes - that crispy Greek pie has made a few successful appearances in our household too.

Halloumi, pepper and sweet corn tacos are on the menu for tonight. Last night was butternut squash and green bean curry.

Sooverthemill · 25/05/2021 21:30

@purplegirl13 our favourite family pie is potato and cheese pie. Pronto very healthy but fab
here is a link to that and another delicious recipe. Tamsin day -Lewis is one of my go to cookery writers as is Nigel of course. It's possible to adapt the recipe to use less high fat cheese!

Sooverthemill · 25/05/2021 21:31

Pronto? Probably was what thought I typed. Anyway I'm gluten and lactose free these days and I often dream about that pie!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 26/05/2021 10:33

@Sooverthemill that sounds delicious and so simple too. Definitely going to give it a go. It would be a good one to use up your shortcrust pastry @purplegirl13?

purplegirl13 · 26/05/2021 11:06

@neverenoughchelseaboots halloumi, pepper and sweetcorn tacos sound tasty! I'd never have thought about that combo for some reason.

@Sooverthemill thanks for that recipe, I'm going to make it this weekend. I've only got the one sheet of pastry so may have to give it a go with pastry only at the base.
p.s I would never reduce the amount of cheese in a recipe, I'm more likely to double it Smile

I succumbed to a couple of scoops of ice cream last night.

Today's plan:
B - kefir drink
L - rye bread, 2 boiled eggs and whatever salad bits that need using up
D - the aubergine chilli I made last week, with brown rice

SwimmingOnEggshells · 26/05/2021 11:31

They do sound tasty, I googled the three ingredients and found this recipe www.hellofresh.co.uk/recipes/halloumi-pepper-and-sweetcorn-tacos-5e456b07071c7a64525ba9bc also going to give that a go. I could live off chipotle chillies!

Things went slightly off plan for me yesterday:

Coffee
Slice of leftover spanakopita
Cashew stirfry with boiled rice
Hot cocoa....and I added a dash of cream! eeek.

Going to have the bean enchiladas tonight.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 26/05/2021 16:41

They were the ones @SwimmingOnEggshells. I mentioned a bit ago that I was stuck in a veggie rut so got a hello fresh trial box to give me some inspiration. I'd say it was quite good, but the extra packaging tainted my enjoyment of the experience and I couldn't bring myself to get another box for this week.
