Had a fabulous day yesterday, not just falling of the wagin, but positively somersaulting off!

Out for lunch with friends (two cocktails and gorgeous lunch), lots of champagne and doughnuts afterwards, and then wine and chocolate. Made it home for 11pm.

I've put on 2lb. Feeling worth it right now, as it was the best day out I've had in a year, great women to share it with, but I will have to work hard to get back on track.

WellTidy · 19/05/2021 09:23

wagon

SwimmingOnEggshells · 19/05/2021 10:05

You can do it @Sooverthemill! and sure even if you only lose 3 that will still make a massive difference. Because we're short every lb lost is so important.

I'm still in the zone. Today I'm going to have 1 egg and toast for lunch and then dinner is going to be carb heavy - tortellini and tomato ragu.

We've recently turned pescatarian so it's definitely harder to keep my protein levels up.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 19/05/2021 10:18

Rooting for you @Sooverthemill

@SwimmingOnEggshells definitely share the pescatarian recipes please. I'm not sure if it's being pregnant and fancying different foods but after 17 months I've started to find it hard. I'm just bored with the repertoire. I've got a veggie Hello Fresh box arriving Saturday to try and bring some variety and inspiration.

Also - got the (mostly) all clear on the complications this morning. Always outside chances of things going wrong but risks are not much higher than normal so I can get on with enjoying it and relax. Thanks for all your kind words and support during a difficult week. x

@WellTidy that sounds like a brilliant reason to have a blow out. And I totally believe you don't stick to 'diets' if it's all deprivation. A healthy lifestyle with a exceptions for special occasions is much more likely to work long term.

@Knittingnanny your husband needs to continue giving the birthday chocolate away so it's FINALLY gone! Your overnight oats - is that oats mixed in yogurt? I love the idea of you 'swishing' Wink

@WellTidy that sounds like a fabulous day!!

@Sooverthemill I'm not surprised you comfort ate yesterday. Are you able to get out for a walk during the day? I wonder if a short break away from the house might be helpful to give you a bit of 'me' time, plus the extra steps will count as a bit of movement?

@SwimmingOnEggshells glad you are still in the zone. As a vegetarian, I can throw some protein ideas your way. Some of my go-to's are greek yogurt, cottage cheese, edamame(sp?) in pods plus eggs, eggs and more eggs!

I ended up having some more dark chocolate buttons last night but I'm ok with that.

I am booked in for a deep tissue massage at lunch-time, much needed as I tense up a lot due to anxiety. I am genuinely worried I am going to cry with the contact - I've not had a hug since early Dec so even thinking about having someone touch me makes me feels emotional

I've got a carrot to use up, and half a can of chickpeas in the freezer so I'm making lentil and chickpea soup later (for the freezer)

purplegirl13 · 19/05/2021 10:26

@neverenoughchelseaboots cross-posted. I am so pleased to hear the news is not overly worrying and hopefully this has put your mind at ease.

Happy to share some of my favorite vegetarian recipes your way if you want me to

Phew! Reached the end of the thread, can I join in now please?
I’m 5ft 0 and 10st 6, my first goal is to reach the 9s.
This thread has been so enlightening, I’d almost given up because I didn’t think I eat that much but I drink quite a bit and relax at weekends, don’t track through the week so probably consistently eating more than I need. I’ve done all the diets but have never been slim, not since aged 14.
So my plan is 1000 or less on weekdays (MFP), smaller portions, 16:8 & relax on weekends. I might be back to ask for some exercise tips but that’s a step too far at the moment, I’m seriously unfit.

I need it to be sustainable, I love —obsess about—food, love eating out etc just need to be more mindful. I’m down 1lb this week😊

Breakfast:fasting
Lunch: Prawn cocktail salad sandwich(200cals). Trying nimble bread it’s 51 cals a slice. Slice of the frittata I just made (86 cals). Tablespoon of HM sauerkraut.
Dinner: Small full English with 1vegan sausage, 1 bacon, beans , fried egg and lots of cherry toms and mushrooms and one more nimble slice (522 cals)

I’ll adjust my plan if I don’t start losing but I’m going to give it a while to work. I just never stick to any diet long enough, I want to be slim for this first time ever as an adult. I’m determined 😊

neverenoughchelseaboots · 19/05/2021 10:52

@BippityBobbityBoo you read the whole thread 😮 - you definitely earned your admission to the club! Welcome.
You mentioned eating out, I have no actually proof of this theory but I'm convinced that eating out regularly makes it really really hard to lose weight. There's a reason why restaurant food tastes so much richer and better than at home. They don't wince as they chuck in an enormous amount of butter and cream etc. Plus you eat bigger portions because it feels like a waste.

@purplegirl13 yes please to any recipes - I'm afraid I'm a member of the no eggs club though 🤢. And mushrooms in fortunately. I do adore lentils and pulses though.

Purple, yes I mix my usual portion of full fat Greek yog with one heaped tablespoon of oats and in the morning stir in blueberries. It is the consistency of poly filler! Keeps me full til mid afternoon snack time. Husband having it as well as he is a huge porridge fan. Mixing them in my vintage Tupperware “ oriental bowls with lid come coaster.
Yes the birthday chocolate has nearly gone thank goodness. However it is nearly Father’s Day!
Not as wet and dreary here today as forecast so hopefully meeting 2 grandchildren after school at the beach for a run around.
By the way, I can’t work out how to do the highlighting of your names on here to reply to you specifically. You all seem to be able to do it, can you give easy step by step instructions to this 64 year old? Thank you!

Sooverthemill · 19/05/2021 11:02

@Knittingnanny if you type the @ symbol you will find all the names pop up below the message box and you click on. If you type @ and a letter it filters it a bit OR type name no gaps and it does the same

SwimmingOnEggshells · 19/05/2021 11:04

@neverenoughchelseaboots that's so good to hear, delighted for you. Smile

Re. pescatarianism; I'm not officially one but my 5yo DS has decided he won't eat meat/animals but I've insisted he continues to eat fish because he's so young. I'm still an omnivore but family meals are always fish/veg. So much harder to meal plan!

A really good fish dish we had last week was this: dailycookingquest.com/chinese-pan-fried-fish-with-soy-sauce.html

To go with it, I very quickly stir-fried some green beans with a dash of oyster sauce and sesame oil. Served it all with jasmine rice. So good!

Oh and the fish I used was sea bass.

Welcome @BippityBobbityBoo, you really have earned your stripes reading the whole thread!

@WellTidy you need days like that every so often, and sure those 2bs in just food in your gut, it's not real weight gain :)

Up to about 6 months ago my 10 and a half year old grandson would have be enthusiastic about helping me with anything IT. However, since turning 11 recently, he doesn’t seem so keen..... hormones I presume, thinking back to the overnight change in my boys!

BippityBobbityBoo · 19/05/2021 12:25

Thanks for the warm welcome @SwimmingOnEggshells and @neverenoughchelseaboots I was pleased to read your update with good news. Reading the whole thread (and the last one!) I feel like I know you all. I’m not sure why it’s been such a light bulb to
Learn I need to eat a lot less being so short doh!

You’re definitely right about eating out, we’re planning on limiting to just once per month. I want to order whatever I want though and enjoy it so will see how that goes. I only ever have a main and I don’t think I’ll ever be one to
Opt for the salad.

I’m still tweaking and realised I use far too much milk in my coffees so Ive switched to black.

DH has just boiled a small ham so I’m going to make soup, I’m out of carrots so I’ve just charged my Fitbit and I’m going for carrots, on foot!

I always start enthusiastically, expect to reach my target in a week then give up. I’m really really determined after reading all of your inspirational posts and determination through your various life curve balls. Thank you Flowers

purplegirl13 · 19/05/2021 13:40

@BippityBobbityBoo Welcome. Reading this thread and the last one, that is impressive! Definitely come join us, it's a slow, slow journey for us shorties. The trick is to keep on going, all the 1/4 and 1/2 lbs lost add up. If you enjoy milk in your coffee, carry on! For me, it's been important to not to heavily restrict. I have pasta once a week and try not to eat bread more than once a week, only because I will always reach for toast and pasta when I can't be bothered. When I eat both those food items, they are often accompanied by a lot of cheese!

@Knittingnanny the texture is why I can't eat porridge, however when my grocery order arrives tomorrow I will try oats in my yogurt later on in the week.

I had my massage and I feel so much looser and relaxed. I am going to eat a late lunch of scrambled eggs and veggie sausages before planting myself of the sofa with a book. I feel like I shouldn't clean or do errands and just make the most of feeling nicely relaxed.

purplegirl13 · 19/05/2021 18:27

Logging for today:

No breakfast as was busier than expected and I didn't get to have lunch until nearly 2pm

L - 2 scrambled eggs with some boursin, 2 veggie sausages (424)
D - last night's veggie chilli, and some pre-cooked quinoa, with cheddar and guacamole (629)
S - dark chocolate (15g) and a peach (141)
Total: 1194

I was meant to have brown rice for dinner and decided to brave using the pressure cooker - something went wrong and the rice was burnt dry! The inside is scorched black!

Oh and I appear to have developed a dark chocolate habit but am able to stick to smallish amounts. Most unusual since I'm normally an all or nothing person.

BippityBobbityBoo · 19/05/2021 20:14

@purplegirl13 thank youSmile you did right to make the most of your relaxation. I’ve never had much luck with massage and have only ever had masochist ones.

I was really wasting lots of calories on milk and can take it or leave it in coffee so it’s no biggie to me really. I’m not really restricting at the moment, I usually cut carbs but I’m not even doing that, Just IF and eating below 1000. If it doesn’t work I’ll mix it up but like you say it’s sticking at it that counts.

My pressure cooker catches a lot. It usually scours up ok.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 20/05/2021 08:58

Good morning y'all.

Yesterday was not as amazing as I would like but it was ok:

mini caramel bar (fake Mars type thing)
Thai chicken soup (skipped the eggs as this was about to go off)
Tomato ragu with spinach tortellini
6 tuc crackers and philadelphia

Anyone else find bad weather makes you want to stuff your face? The rain is coming down sideways here, so depressing!

Knittingnanny · 20/05/2021 10:51

How did you only eat one !!!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 20/05/2021 11:15

The caramel bar?! Grin it was hard, very very hard!
