You egg and porridge dislikers are heathens! I love them both ❤️

@purplegirl13 The milkshake was delicious, about 360 cals I think? I don't count calories but I was curious to know how much it was. Very much worth it and surprisingly filling.

My strategy after kids go to bed is to stay upstairs in my room. I'm too close to the kitchen if I'm in our sitting room! My cat is lying on me too which also helps, she's too cute to move 🐱

Sooverthemill · 18/05/2021 09:45

Have t checked in for a while. Really struggling with very sick DD ( she's always ill, but she's much worse ) and I've not slept well. So I thought I was 'good' at the weekend and this morning I'm 1.5 pounds heavier. Depressing but I know it will go. I need to properly motivate myself but I don't have the brain at the moment!

neverenoughchelseaboots · 18/05/2021 10:09

@Sooverthemill your situation sounds beyond hard. I don't know how you can even dedicate what you do to healthy eating and losing weight. Most people would be getting by however they could manage.

You sound very strong. x

@neverenoughchelseaboots oh no I'm a quivering heap today. I feel like my world is ending really

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 10:29

@neverenoughchelseaboots reassuring you don't have to wait too long, we've here if you need us x

@SwimmingOnEggshells I don't often have a milkshake as I find them so filling, I can never have them as part of a meal.

I'm adding a vanilla milkshake and flapjacks to the list for a few weeks time.

@Sooverthemill echoing what neverenough says, I'd be getting through the day as best I could. Do be kind to yourself

After having an early dinner yesterday, I was hungry about 8pm but luckily had a boiled egg to reach for, followed by some dark chocolate

I'm feeling horribly tired today but want to focus on having a clean space, and getting some laundry done. I have an interview next week I'm very excited about so must start preparing for it!

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 10:32

Oh and it came up on another thread, I don't recall every having had celeriac or if I have, it's been at least 15-20yrs! Any vegetarian recipes you'd recommend I try?

Sooverthemill · 18/05/2021 10:44

@purplegirl13 I love celariac . I make celariac kedgeree wwww.annajones.co.uk/recipe/vegeree

iwonttaketheeasyroad · 18/05/2021 10:54

Any tips to cope with emotional eating?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/05/2021 10:56

@purplegirl13 I also love celeriac, I have a fab celeriac SOUP (Grin) recipe I'll share.

I did well last night, stayed upstairs after kiddoes went to bed and I didn't snack at all. Then this morning I saw a new low on the scales, woo (8 stone 8 and 1/4 lbs)! I'm not logging it as weigh-in is Friday but it's encouraged me to keep going.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/05/2021 11:00

I started with a BMI of 26.4 in September/October and now I'm at 23.4. Insanely slow but I'm very happy with it.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/05/2021 11:07

Celeriac soup

Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 celeriac peeled and cut into cubes
1 large potato peeled and cut into cubes
1 Leek trimmed, washed and roughly sliced
1 Onion peeled and roughly chopped
1 clove Garlic sliced
4 cups vegetable stock
salt and pepper to taste
parsley leaves handful, washed and roughly chopped
US Customary - Metric

Instructions
Place a large pot over a medium low heat and add the olive oil. Add the celeriac, leek, potato, garlic and onion, and season with salt and pepper.

Gently sweat the vegetables until the celeriac starts to soften, around 10 minutes.

Add the vegetable stock and bring the soup up to a boil before reducing to a simmer.

Simmer for 20 minutes or until the celeriac is completely tender. Add the parsley and use an immersion blender to puree until smooth, or alternatively blend in batches in a blender.

Return to the heat and check the seasoning and adjust as necessary.
Serve with a drizzle of olive oil or a dollop of yoghurt or sour cream.

I roughly follow this but sub frozen onion for leeks. I also don't bother with parsley. It needs loads of pepper.

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 11:19

Oooh I'm now really excited to try it!

Both the kedgeree and soup are going on my list. I'll most probably make the soup next week

@SwimmingOnEggshells sounds like you are in the zone!! stay with us, this thread is keeping me going.

@iwonttaketheeasyroad I'm an emotional eater as well, maybe change what you are reaching for - popcorn/grapes instead of cake/choc? Drink water/tea as a distraction? Phone a friend/paint your nails etc?

I am making this for dinner www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/burnt-aubergine-veggie-chilli

I'm going to shove it all in the slow cooker at lunch time

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/05/2021 11:45

That looks delicious @purplegirl13, do you do the charring of the aubergine step? i'd say it gives a lovely flavour. There were aubergines on special in Lidl this morning and I bought two, I might give that a go!

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 11:49

@SwimmingOnEggshells This is my first time making it. I have just charred the aubergine and it's cooling now.

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 11:51

I'm using what I have in so I'm adding a pack of this www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/merchant-gourmet-french-tomatoey-puy-and-green-lentils/623488-88446-88447 where the recipe states puy/red lentils

neverenoughchelseaboots · 18/05/2021 12:00

@SwimmingOnEggshells amazing!

I know progress is slow so you don't really notice the progress but we really should all be proud that we're all here chipping away, making long term and realistic changes and seeing real results when look over time. Smile

You're all doing fab! It's the long game that counts. x

This is another very tasty celeriac soup :) www.deliaonline.com/recipes/collections/hearty-soups/slow-cooked-celery-and-celeriac-soup

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 13:55

I'm going to be so disappointed if it turn out I don't like celeriac!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/05/2021 14:08

Do you like celery? It's quite like that.

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 15:41

I do like celery so that's good to know

purplegirl13 · 18/05/2021 18:38

Am logging my meals for today.

B - honey kefir drink
L - leftovers - egg fried cauliflower 'rice' stir fried with tofu & veg
S - peach, dark choc buttons
D - the aubergine and lentil chilli I posted about earlier, with baked potato, cheddar and guacamole

Total: 1250 calories

Knittingnanny · 18/05/2021 20:29

Overnight oats and berries again for late breakfast
Rice cakes and cheese snacks
Salmon and med veg then yog and berries for tea
I think I’m doing about 1200/1300 a day which now is only going to be 1lb loss a month, but that’s ok
I still have no idea how I’m going to move to the maintain phase ( ie rest of my life!) as I’m not at all convinced my cravings for poorer choices are “ cured”.
I’ve really enjoyed swishing around today in a straight ( stretchy) size ten dress ( doing exciting things such as laundry, walking to the postbox with three year old to let her post my letters, play a never ending game of “ PlayMobil camper van adventures”, filling the car up with petrol) , was so fed up with wearing jeans!
Tomorrow afternoon our knitting group recommences and there will be cake, chat, laughing and.... cake!
I’m not having any as it won’t stop there. I’m not enough in control yet.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/05/2021 20:44

@Knittingnanny I know what you mean about not curing the cravings, it's just so hard.

I've heard if you stay off sugar for two weeks, or maybe a week, the cravings go. I've never managed that long!

I did well today:

Skimmed milk coffee for breakfast
Tiny quinoa salad pot for lunch
Greek roasted pepper gemista and Greek omelette for dinner
Cocoa on skimmed milk, one sugar and a few tiny marshmallows

Knittingnanny · 18/05/2021 21:02

Swimming, day 40 and I’m not over the hump yet. Grandad gave granddaughter a few of his birthday posh chocolate drops this afternoon and the baby had one as well. I could easily have snatched the tub out of his hand and tipped the whole lot down my throat without even tasting them. That’s how bad my chocolate craving is.
My aim is to be able to eat “ treats” as just that, an occasional extra in amongst a sensible healthy food intake. It really shouldn’t be this hard should?!

Sooverthemill · 19/05/2021 09:14

Yesterday was s**t! I comfort ate for much of it. Whole tub of guacamole, for example ( felt pretty gross after).

Today is a whole new day and I tried on the dress I'm wearing to DD1's wedding and although it fits I think it would look better without my tummy sticking out so I'm determined to lose at least 6 pounds by July. That must be doable.
