Enjoy the break @purplegirl13, but do come back!

iwonttaketheeasyroad · 14/05/2021 10:49

Can i join please? I am 5ft 2 and 48 , i am about 9 stone 6 , most comfortable about 8 stone 9 . I'm working from home and i have no control when it comes to snacking, i am also approaching menopause and its so hard to lose any weight at all. I am quite good about exercise but rubbish and keeping to calories. Even if i put a few pounds on it looks like so much more and all goes to my waist and boobs!

WellTidy · 14/05/2021 12:01

Kept at 9 stone 3.5 pounds which I am really pleased about. I am planning a mid afternoon slice of cake with DS after school. Really looking forward to it and aiming to stay low calorie for lunch and dinner. Oat latte for breakfast from my local coffee shop which was really lovely and surprisingly filling.

Some great losses this morning, well done!

And good luck to those wanting to get back in the saddle. It will be worth it.

Keep the faith 🎶

Welcome @iwonttaketheeasyroad. Hello to everyone else. Small loss for me this week - a reward for being more in the zone. I'm now 9 stone 0.4lb - so, so close to getting under 9 stone but it is proving a stubborn barrier to break through.

AuldFox · 14/05/2021 15:10

Afternoon all, I’m 8st 9 today, well pleased with that! I’m on holiday from this weekend so will thoroughly enjoy myself and hang the weight gain!

purplegirl13 · 14/05/2021 15:38

@SwimmingOnEggshells This thread keeps me accountable so I'm going nowhere Smile I am pleased however that I kept to my small goal of 3 days of no choc/crisps/ice cream - had gone a little crazy on them recently and it needs to be about balance. I wanted to stop for a few days (to prove to myself I could).

@iwonttaketheeasyroad welcome. Calorie counting isn't for everyone, can you start off with small changes - for example, reduce/limit snacking? add more fruit and veg? don't restrict too heavily, too quickly as you'll feel deprived. Start with what feels manageable.

@Morningmaeve Well done, you'll get there - that elusive 9st does seem to be a difficult one though! Hopefully the loss is a good reminder of what happens when we're back in the zone.

@Knittingnanny have you dared to weigh in today?

@AuldFox absolutely enjoy yourself, and come back to us later with no regrets!

Knittingnanny · 14/05/2021 23:53

Didn’t weigh today but will brave the scales Sunday this week.
Have a good weekend everyone

Knittingnanny · 15/05/2021 11:57

I decided to weigh this morning as after another bad nights sleep i went back to sleep at 7-11! Delights of being retired! So before a cup of tea and breakfast I weighted 8 st 11 so only 2 lbs to go till I’m pre first pregnancy 1982! That was despite an impromptu iow trip which involved a small egg baguette followed by small dish and chips by the beach when we got back!
Tried a sleeveless top on for size today and can see some saggy bingo wings where I’ve lost weight so will need to make sure I know when to stop losing and start the tedious maintaining.
Off to the Range for an additional one tog quilt, how exciting is my day! Although followed by cup of tea invite from daughter round the corner so that will be lovely to play more dressing up with the 5 year old!
My bed linen tip! I hate changing duvet covers! So in the Spring, summer and early warm Autumn when we get so hot in bed (!!) due to airing cupboard in our bedroom, we only use a one tog quilt. I machine it into a cover and put the whole lot in the washing machine, so only need to wrestle with the duvet cover in the col months! Used to do the same with lightweight single ones when the boys were small.
That was such boring news!

Knittingnanny · 15/05/2021 11:58

Excuse the typos, I have no excuse really!

iwonttaketheeasyroad · 15/05/2021 12:05

Thank you all for the warm welcome , this seems such a friendly group . I’m going to try and set my self small goals no snacking in the morning and try to last to lunch without biscuits or crisps!!! Ideally I want to stop snacking all together as its my worst habit . Weighed myself this morning and 9 stone 3 not sure if I’ve actually lost 2 pounds or if it was first thing in the morning! Anyway I’m taking it . Going to weigh myself every Saturday and report on here how I’m doing to keep me accountable .

Happy weekend everyone x

AuldFox · 15/05/2021 12:28

Welcome @iwonttaketheeasyroad we are snail’s pace losers of weight over here, so pull up a pew and plan to stay a while!

Knittingnanny · 15/05/2021 13:24

Yes weigh before cup of tea and after a wee is my motto!

BlodwinTheThird · 15/05/2021 19:02

Industry standard for weigh-in is: first thing in morning, post-wee, pre-anything else, naked as the day you were born, and standing gingerly on one foot (tiptoes), surely?

WellTidy · 15/05/2021 19:09

Absolutely! I always have a wee, take my PJs off, weigh and then make a cuppa.

WellTidy · 15/05/2021 19:09

I put my PJs back on to go downstairs and make a cuppa, I should say!!

Knittingnanny · 15/05/2021 23:21

And take the lowest of at least 3 readings!

Lyonesse2020 · 16/05/2021 10:08

May I join? I'm 5'3, and rather well-endowed. Current weight is 78kg, at least 2kg of which is bust (yes, I have weighed them separately!). Since bust size is so largely genetic, I resent having to include them in BMI calculations.

I'm starting Second Nature tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be helpful in cutting my dedication to carbs, and the recipes look really appetising. I'll be doing it along with my DH, so we should be able to help keep each other on the wagon.

purplegirl13 · 16/05/2021 12:19

@Knittingnanny 8.11!! Well done you! I avoid sleeveless, I could be 8st and still have 'chunky' upper arms. I must add in some strengthening exercises. I hope you bought your duvet. An exciting day indeed. I hate changing bedding. I am always so cold but you have reminded me I should split my duvets now (I have 2 that clip together to make 13 tog)

@iwonttaketheeasyroad good luck with those goals.

everyone else agree with you all about how to weigh!

@Lyonesse2020 welcome

Yesterday period cramps drove me to pizza and cheesecake. The pizza was spread over lunch and dinner, and the cheesecake was already planned for some point this weekend. I estimate it was about 1800 cals, back to plan today.

B - watermelon (kefir drink I planned on had gone off)
L - broccoli soup with rye toast, spread with cream cheese
D - salad with cheddar and some type of veggie protein
S - peach, finish of the last of the wine.

Does anyone here have an instant pot? I am thinking of asking for vouchers towards one for my birthday next month. I have a slow cooker (used frequently), pressure cooker was used mostly for dals but have taken to using the sow cooker more because the pressure cooker is scary

Knittingnanny · 16/05/2021 15:35

I have a remoska
I coveted it for years but hesitated because of the price ( google Lakeland and be shocked!) I’ve several friends who have owned them for years and use them all the time
I’ve used mine 4 times in 2 years. The lid contraption weighs a ton to lift, I’ve melted plastic on the outside of the microwave door putting the hot lid next to it and the potatoes were not cooked in the centre.
It’s in the cupboard of failed kitchen items.
So don’t think I’ll bother with any more pots
I did have a slow cooker when I had 3 children at home and worked full time but only used it about once a month!

Knittingnanny · 16/05/2021 15:38

Yes, bought a new one tog duvet and sewed it into a cover so all ready for the warm weather.

Knittingnanny · 16/05/2021 15:45

My husband keeps encouraging me to eat porridge, which I really really hate but I know keeps you full.
My friend reminded me about overnight oats so I put 2 tablespoons in my breakfast Greek yoghurt last night. Stirred in blueberries this morning and really enjoyed it. Didn’t feel hungry at all until about 3 today when I had cup of tea and a banana.

Tea tonight is an ancient ( prob Delia) recipe minced lamb mixed with spices and an egg and flattened into a thin layer under the grill.
I’m going to have a small piece in a flatbread with salad. Husband will probably eat the rest even though I’ve said it’s enough for 2 days!

I’m still doing sugar free ( day 38) but noticed Worcestershire sauce has sugar in it. But I only put a very small amount in my cottage pie for the freezer so not going to worry about that.
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone, it’s wet and dreary again here in the south coast.

purplegirl13 · 16/05/2021 16:14

@Knittingnanny I'm a porridge hater and only like oats in flapjack/biscuit form. Might try and add some oats to my greek yogurt as week

Yeah, I do worry that I wont use the instant pot often but having such little space in the kitchen, I like the idea that it can replace my slow/pressure cooker. I might look into more vegetarian recipes for it as see if that sways me further.

purplegirl13 · 16/05/2021 16:15

*as well

Knittingnanny · 16/05/2021 16:42

Oh now I want a big syrupy flapjack!
I thought sugar cravings were supposed to disappear after 7 days but my brain doesn’t seem to have got that message.
The co op flapjack bites ( 8) are so delicious that I can eat them all in one go

WellTidy · 16/05/2021 17:47

I’m a porridge hater too. About once a year I decide that I will give them a go again, and always expect them to taste amazing. And they never do! Someone I used to office share with who is very slim has porridge every morning for breakfast, and then a banana at 11am. And then lunch at 2pm (always a sandwich, something like smoked salmon and cream cheese) and dinner at 7:30 (usually a veggie stir fry). And she swears that she is only ever hungry in the hour that leads to meals, and if she is hungry, just has some plain almonds. I found it such an education.

Weighed in at 9st 3lb today, a three year low, but have eaten baguette, chocolate and crisps already, so no hope of maintaining tomorrow. Pasta pesto and bacon for dinner as it’s one of DS’ favourite meals.
