Can I join in? 5ft 1 and due to a lot of grief and a breakdown I jumped from 8st to 10st. Over the last year I got down to 8st 12lb then went on holiday and have been a solid 9st 5lb.

I don’t expect to have abs, be stick thin etc. But I just want my face and shoulders and arms to be slimmer. Working on portion control, less carbs (not no carbs, just not bread with every meal), and less alcohol.

In the last month I’ve gone down to 9st 2 but my period is due soon which could go wrong. I want to be 8st 2 by August but no idea I’d it’s doable.

Sooverthemill · 12/05/2021 08:08

Weighed myself this morning and I'm down 2.5 pounds! Phew. I know about fluctuations but it still made me gasp!

Morningmaeve · 12/05/2021 09:05

Wow @Sooverthemill - well done. Welcome @ILikePizzaAndWine. I don't think I'd be able to lose a stone by August but I am older than you - post menopause - and that does make it tougher. I've lost a stone since last summer and one thing I've learnt from this thread is that progress is slow for small people. But as long as it is going in the right direction I am okay with that. I've found the accountability useful - most of us weigh in a Friday. I definitely don't expect a loss every week - especially as I like pizza and wine too Grin

WellTidy · 12/05/2021 09:17

Delighted for you @Sooverthemill!

I'm feeling better today, as I've inexplicably lost a pound overnight, down to 9st 3.5lb. Aiming to just keep that off now.

@ILikePizzaAndWine Its worth a try! I've lost 1st 10lb since the start of the year, but I had more weight to lose that you. At 9st 3.5lb (I like to say that, can you tell?!), it is much slower and harder to lose. But any loss is worth it, I think. And the sooner anyone starts, the betterm generally. Stay with us!

@Teaand I calorie count too, and record everything on MFP.

@Knittingnanny I am enormously impressed that you've gone that long without sugar. It is such an achievement. Well done. I am already married and not planning another, or you'd be more than welcome to come and air your frock!

@purplegirl13 no more fraudulent transactions overnight, my old card has been blocked and I have a new debit card arriving. So I'm feeling more settled. Are you on track with your three day plan?

purplegirl13 · 12/05/2021 09:51

@Knittingnanny well done on the no sugar. Are you sleeping any better yet? I am in awe of you not attacking those birthday chocolates by now. Are they hidden on a high shelf? Wink

@Teaand Do you have a daily calorie limit in mind?

@ILikePizzaAndWine I both love and hate your username. I now want pizza and wine! It is slow going for us shorties unless you add in exercise, is that an option for you? or at least getting out for walks.
I've found cutting down carbs helpful to my weight loss. Pasta once a week - I don't do well with feeling I can't have something but weekly is manageable. No idea whether your goal is realistic, but the key is starting, even if you only lost 5lbs that's a loss that will make you feel better

@Sooverthemill phew!

@WellTidy 9st3.5lb is great! Hopefully that'll keep you away from those almond croissants for a few days. I made a flatbread yesterday (so failed on the no -bread) but I'm pleased with that as I didn't reach for the crisps.

I am pleased with my eating yesterday and even had a small glass.

Today's plan:
B - nothing (waiting on grocery delivery)
L - flatbread with salad and ikea veggie balls (I am loving these - they can't be heated in the microwave for 2 mins)
D - rice and dal
Snack options - cucumber/houmous, boiled egg, peach

chicazurafa · 12/05/2021 09:56

Bookmarking. Good luck everyone!

Knittingnanny · 12/05/2021 10:09

Not sleeping any better but I’ll continue the no sugar as long as possible for the weight loss journey, then work out a “ sensible sugar daily intake” .
I’m very grateful for this thread, some threads on mumsnet are vicious! I dared once to write some thoughts about learning to read on an education topic, based on my 40 years of being an infant teacher. Never again, I was ripped to shreds by younger teachers as being out of date, badly trained and a disgrace to even mention that there are lots of complex ways different children learn to read! Don’t go near the phonics threads on the primary education topics!

chicazurafa · 12/05/2021 10:14

5ft 2 and 60.5 kg which I think is just under 10 stone. Not sure on ideal weight but would love to not have the big tummy and flabby arms!

neverenoughchelseaboots · 12/05/2021 11:00

I know what you mean Knittingnanny. There was a thread the other day where everyone was talking about a prolific poster and being so mean, it was awful.

I've occasionally seen familiar names from here and the alcohol free threads (where I use my alter ego name) on general posts and it catches me by surprise, I think of our friendly little group as a completely separate space from the feral lands of AIBU.

purplegirl13 · 12/05/2021 11:32

I agree, I feel this is a safe space with you lovely lot. I don't feel comfortable mentioning my weight on other weight loss threads (or in real life) being sensitive to the fact that my starting weight is a goal weight for those who aren't short like us.

I only found my way to MN at the end of last year, a internet search for what to do with half a tube of creme fraiche brought me here!

Teaand · 12/05/2021 12:50

@purplegirl13 I am more monitoring and keeping an eye. I did look at an ap which I put in my height weight and that I would like to lose 2lbs week (only as I has to put a figure and thought I would aim high but realistic) it had the calorie target quite low which I am managing some days but using it more of a guide to aim for. I think the just measuring and recording is making think about what I am eating.

I have just finished a big bowl of soup from a previous batch cooked I am so glad I had this to hand as the last few days have been manic and if I hadn't had this to fall back on I would have eaten quick and easy but calorie high food today.

Morningmaeve · 12/05/2021 13:37

I agree re much of MN but I do enjoy the gardening corner Smile. AIBU is terrifying!

Sooverthemill · 13/05/2021 09:18

Weighed myself again this morning and I'm back to touching 9 stone so that's okay. I hate how sad it makes me when I put on weight. Years of conditioning I guess

purplegirl13 · 13/05/2021 09:43

@Teaand I've found planning so important, otherwise I just reach for toast/pasta when I'm hungry and can't be bothered. I started off on only 1200 cals daily but within a few weeks upped to 1330 which was more realistic for me, but I don't worry so much if I go over - only that I'm honest in my recording.

On that note, I had an impromptu trip to the pub yesterday afternoon, so half a bottle of prosecco and bar snacks. I had 700 cals to spare by then so I factor 280 for the drinks and I'll have gone over with the food. I feel fine about it, it's not a daily occurrence and I enjoyed myself.

Today's plan:
B - nothing (fasting - so some green tea)
L - boiled egg and avocado salad
D - rice and dal
Snack options - peach, cucumber/houmous

Weigh in day tomorrow - I'll be happy to maintain

BlodwinTheThird · 13/05/2021 11:25

I think important to treat yourself purplegirl - it’s all about balance I think which you seem to have down pat. Bet you enjoyed it!

Teaand · 13/05/2021 11:26

I am planning a Friday weigh in I started on a Tuesday after the bank hoilday so it will only be a few days but I would rather a Friday before a weekend.

I have a family birthday this weekend and they have requested a buffet style meal with sausage rolls extra. I am going to have to resist temptation and make lots salary bits I can fill up on and then choose what treat bits i will have. I think i will make my other meal as low calorie as possible.

purplegirl13 · 13/05/2021 11:53

@BlodwinTheThird I agree, I don't regret it because I chose to order a bottle and the food. Doing that daily is another matter but like you say it's about balance.

@Teaand I've got a small child's birthday party to go this weekend, I plan on having cake and prosecco whilst there. It's at about 2pm so I'll have had lunch already. I'll eat lightly for dinner, making sure I have something planned (otherwise my food choices will go out the window if I'm a little tipsy)

purplegirl13 · 13/05/2021 12:09

@Teaand before joining this thread, I used to weigh in on Mondays. I find Friday weigh in so much better, if you've slipped over the weekend you have the incentive of 4 days on -plan

AuldFox · 13/05/2021 15:02

Absolutely @purplegirl13 we all need the occasional treat, or what else is life for?

TheProvincialLady · 14/05/2021 07:43

Morning everyone. I weigh in at 7 stones 13lbs and 8oz this morning, so I got my wish of weighing under 8 stones. A massive weight loss of 4 oz this week 😀 despite gulab jamun and curry at the weekend.

BlodwinTheThird · 14/05/2021 07:46

64.5kg this week so down 1kg after losing nothing last week. BMI 26.2. I’m about 40% of the way there - 10.5kg lost, 13.5kg to go. Next goal is to get to 63.4, when I might celebrate by switching to stones as it would put me in the ‘9 stone something’ bracket (just!).

Good luck to everyone else weighing in today 🤞

purplegirl13 · 14/05/2021 09:55

@TheProvincialLady @BlodwinTheThird well done!

I'm up by 1lb but I'm hopeful it's a fluctuation rather than a real gain. It'll encourage be to be more mindful this week.

05/03/21 10st 8.8
12/03/21 10st 8.4
19/03/21 10st 7
26/03/21 10st 6
02/04/21 10st 5.2
09/04/21 10st 4.2
16/04/21 10st 4
23/04/21 10st 2.8
30/04/21 10st3
07/05/21 10st1.6
14/05/21 10st 2.6

Total loss 6.2

purplegirl13 · 14/05/2021 09:59

Today's plan:

B - nothing (my grocery order was missing yogurt/kefir)
L - salad with falafel type balls
D - veggie sausages, eggs (fried or scrambled) and baked beans
S (if needed) watermelon, cucumber/houmous, peach
Glass of wine planned for this eve

SwimmingOnEggshells · 14/05/2021 10:31

Quick post to say I'm 8 stone 10lbs again but I think I'm mentally back in the zone.

my battery in my scales went which was risky as the temptation was there not to replace it and continue ignoring my weight (which I know is in the healthy range but I'd like a few more gone).

I've an event in June so that's my target :)

purplegirl13 · 14/05/2021 10:38

@SwimmingOnEggshells mentally being in the zone is half the battle, I've been tiptoeing out of the zone this week Wink
