Thanks.

I'll get onto the doctor first thing on Tuesday.

Gingernaut · 02/05/2021 21:41

and take care of yourself, OK?

Knittingnanny · 03/05/2021 02:11

Yes still hanging onto that magic number of just under 9 stone. I’m a bit too scared to weigh again in case I imagined it!
Still trying going sugar free but it has not improved my sleep at all. Hence online at 2am!
Onwards and upwards, in our case downwards!
Have a good day work off tomorrow if you are able. I’m going for a mooch around the shops whilst husband helps daughter with some diy.

CardiganOfDoom · 03/05/2021 07:30

@Gingernaut if your pain is plantar fasciitis, then the thing that finally worked for me was to stand on a stair on the balls of my feet with my heels sticking out, and then lower my heels as far as they will go, and hold the stretch for at least a minute. I do this every day now.

I also got severe calf cramps, and I think my tight calves were implicated in my PF so if this is not true for you, it may not work.

Gingernaut · 03/05/2021 10:54

Yup.

I injured my knee months ago, started walking to accommodate the injury and have damaged my ankle and caused a flare up of the old PF.

No amount of exercise is making it go away.

purplegirl13 · 03/05/2021 11:01

@Knittingnanny have a lovely day wandering around the shops! After a few medical appts, and a weekend with with family, I'm looking forward to a day to myself in the flat. Will do a bit of cleaning and tidying before planting myself on the sofa with a book.

Today:
B - coconut kefir drink
L - salad with goats cheese
D - the slow cooker dal I made last week, rice and I'm going to make an easy mushroom and peas curry I've made a few times www.spiceupthecurry.com/matar-mushroom-recipe-dry/
Snack options: greek yogurt and berries, boiled egg

purplegirl13 · 03/05/2021 11:04

I'm aiming for 1200 calories this week (instead of 1130) but won't force it

purplegirl13 · 03/05/2021 11:04

*instead of 1330

Knittingnanny · 03/05/2021 15:41

I did purple but only bought some new pillowcases so not very exciting!
Mushroom omelette tonight and trying to ignore the packet of microwave popcorn that I’ve just found in the back of my cupboard. I wouldn’t be able to eat just one normal sized portion unfortunately.

Sooverthemill · 04/05/2021 08:56

Not done well over the weekend and I've put on a fraction which is depressing but totally understandable. DD is really poorly and I've had some chocolate and a glass of wine each night. I am exhausted and need to remember that tiredness doesn't equal needing to eat!

chillichutneysarnie · 04/05/2021 09:19

Hi can I join? I'm 5ft 0 and weigh about 74kg at the moment. The biggest I've ever been. In about 2012 I got down to about 63kg and was very happy there but it's just not as easy to lose now for some reason (lack of energy and low mood probably).
I need to quit alcohol and bread. I've just switched bread out for rice cakes but the alcohol is another matter, it's my crutch. But it's the key to unlocking some weight loss I'm sure.

WellTidy · 04/05/2021 09:42

I’ve had a shocking bank holiday weekend. A whole packet of microwave popcorn with golden syrup (even prior to project weight loss, I’d only have a third) plus chocolate and amazing panna cotta. Meals haven’t been huge, and I’ve not had any alcohol, but haven’t exercised either. Not ideal, shall we say!

Still at 9st 5lb, which is miraculous.

So - back on it today! Our for an hour and a half walk now (thankfully the wind has settled a little) and will resist the pastries on the way back.

DH has decided that he wants to lose a stone, so that will help keep me on track. He has rightly pointed out that whilst I have been eating less since the start of the year, overall family dinner portions have remained the same. We all tend to serve ourselves, so he (and DS1 to some extent I’m sure) has essentially been eating the rest of my portion. I need to cook smaller amounts all round, I think. Making paella for tonight and extra for tomorrow night, so I will up the quantity of chicken and prawns and lower the amount of rice and chorizo.

WellTidy · 04/05/2021 09:44

Just catching up with the thread.

WellTidy · 04/05/2021 09:46

The rest of my post got lost! Anyway - the sentiments were to be kind to ourselves. Keep the faith everyone.

purplegirl13 · 04/05/2021 10:08

@Knittingnanny I went to TK maxx after my hospital appt the other day and came out empty-handed, always the way way you're in the mood for retial therapy! I love new bedding but can't have many due to lack of storage. Did you resist the popcorn? Sorry to hear you're still not sleeping well.

@Sooverthemill being tired will always cause you to reach for sugar as a 'pick me up'. Do not worry about the tiny weight gain, it is understandable. Be kind to yourself.

@chillichutneysarnie welcome

@WellTidy good point there about the dinner portions, and makes perfect sense. Having your DH on board will definitely keep you on track. Enjoy your walk today! Start afresh today, as you say not an ideal weekend but small wins in that meal portions weren't huge and no alcohol. I am realising how important movement is for us shorties and I definitely to get back out walking once I feel better.

B - coconut kefir drink
L - no salad leaves left but will make a puy lentil salad with goats cheese
D - rice and dal
Snack options if needed - boiled egg, cottage cheese on rye crackers

purplegirl13 · 04/05/2021 10:12

For transparency, my calories were over yesterday as I had a cone with a couple of scoops of ice cream (white chocolate, and pistachio) yesterday afternoon. Was craving more food in the evening - more a case of wanting to keep eating for the sake of it rather than being hungry. I had a few vegetable balls from ikea (that can be warmed up in the mircrowave) instead of reaching for for ice cream. Small win.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 04/05/2021 11:20

Just a quick check in from mer: Very so-so here, but I did manage to lose 1/4 of a lb last week. So I'm now 8 stone 9 lbs.

So many losses last Friday, well done everyone!

TheProvincialLady · 04/05/2021 16:47

I ate a smallish-normal bowl of spaghetti and tomato sauce on Saturday, with 2 scoops of ice cream and a small glass of wine, and put on a pound and a half! How is that even possible?!

Knittingnanny · 04/05/2021 17:37

Purple, I passed it straight on to my hollow legged tall skinny 5 year old granddaughter! For their Friday film night. Once it’s out of the house I don’t miss it.
Last night I slept 1.30am-2.45 am , them 3-4.00 am, then 4.25-6.30 am then 7-9.30 am. My sleeping has been rubbish from aged 50 ( peri menopause) , I used to be able to sleep for ten hours in a row easily.
Good job I’m not having to get up and be all singing and dancing with 30 infants.
Late breakfast of yoghurt and berries
Afternoon nut snack ( I’ve had to start putting them in a small container as I was back to stuffing handfuls on straight from the bag so no portion control was happening
Dinner is home made chilli, with veg for me not rice
More yog for pudding.

AuldFox · 04/05/2021 20:20

@TheProvincialLady

That can’t be right, it’s not that many extra calories! How frustrating for you.

I must say, I seem to eat a lot more than some people here. I eat carbs, I eat sugar and my portion sizes aren’t that small Confused I do eat a lot of veg, fruit and walk at least 5 miles a day though.

TheProvincialLady · 04/05/2021 21:13

Auldfox I guess it shows that weight loss isn’t linear and that calories and weight on one day are just snapshots of the real picture. A positive message really (am trying hard to feel it 😀)

Your approach sounds ideal TBH. I wish I had time to walk every day as I used to. These days it’s a rarity and I miss walking for its own sake as well as for health.

AuldFox · 04/05/2021 21:29

Absolutely provinciallady weight loss is weird and I can’t think of any rhyme or reason! I’m not a frequent weight-taker as it’s so up and down. I walk in my lunch hour and take public transport whenever I can, so it adds up. Gotta squeeze in those steps in somehow! Smile

purplegirl13 · 05/05/2021 10:32

@SwimmingOnEggshells lovely to hear from you, and well done on the loss!

@TheProvincialLady I weigh myself almost daily and I find it so interesting to see the fluctuations, however I only record each Friday.

@Knittingnanny bet your granddaughter was pleased with the popcorn! I thought my sleep was back on track but was still awake at 2am, insomnia is horrible. I am currently job-hunting but am forcing myself to get up and be sat at my laptop for 9ish in order to have a structure to the day.

I've been measuring nuts out as well (30g) and putting them into a very small bowl.

@AuldFox steps are so important! I attribute my small gain last week due to lack of movement (I haven't been feeling well). Bit more of the same this week so have reduced calories down to account for lack of steps

Today's plan:
B - vanilla kefir drink
L - puy lentil salad with cottage cheese and kimchi
D - egg fried cauliflower 'rice' with tofu and a frozen steam-bag of veg thrown in.
S - graze lime & chilli nuts

Last week I gained 0.2lb so hoping for a small loss this week, which is motivating me to stay on track today and tomorrow.

purplegirl13 · 05/05/2021 10:33

@neverenoughchelseaboots how are you getting on?

WellTidy · 05/05/2021 16:45

A gain like that is so frustrating isn’t it? I find the video linked to upthread (or was it the previous thread?) really really helpful when I have plateaus or gains. It is all about fluctuations and why they occur. I think a bowl of pasta might have been one of the examples. Might be worth a view?

I forgot to weigh this morning but I have walked for an hour and a half again today so I am hoping for a loss tomorrow. Will do the same again tomorrow, but after I do my chores. Sometimes I walk quite early on in the day, and then basically do too much sitting back and congratulating myself for the rest of the day, when I really do need to get on with my jobs!! We are having a clear out and I’m trying to get rid of three sofas on various free sites, to avoid us having to hire a van and take them to the tip. I am amazed that nobody seems to want them, so need to put more effort into advertising them.
