Checking in so I don’t lose you - reasonably good weekend. No takeaways, and only a tiny bit of sugar (I was pouring a rum and Diet Coke and only realised there wasn’t any more Diet Coke after I’d started, so I topped it up with normal Coke, but it was only a third of a glass).

Still haven’t weighed - I’ve bought new batteries for the scales, though! Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to face it.

Sooverthemill · 12/04/2021 21:00

We had a fairly reasonable weekend with healthy food! So hooing I have t gained anything when I weigh myself tomorrow

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 12/04/2021 22:38

Sooo I weighed myself today and I have to lose 20 kg to get a healthy BMI. DP and I have joined a gym today so hoping some exercise will help me.

TheProvincialLady · 13/04/2021 07:46

Well done MyGhast, that’s a big step. I have found that having personal training sessions really got me on track and motivated me to keep going when I would otherwise have given up long ago!

2020in2020 · 13/04/2021 08:43

May I join please?

I’m 5”1 and 10st 13lbs, down from 11st 9 using Exante but I can’t do it anymore.

DH and I are starring OMAD fasting. I start a new job in June and would love to lose a lot by then. My goal is about 8st, which gives me a “buffer” of 7lbs for high days and holidays where I can put weight on and not look too big!

2020in2020 · 13/04/2021 08:45

I’m also going to make sure I go for a walk every day. I’ve downloaded the Couch to 5k app, and on the days I don’t do that I’m going to use the exercise bike that is currently pretending to be a clothes horse..::

neverenoughchelseaboots · 13/04/2021 09:16

Welcome @2020in2020, I found the C25K really helpful in getting me started running - and I'm now going three times a week.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered that's a great step, you'll probably find that after a workout you want to make better food choices too because it otherwise it feels like you're wiping out the workout.

I've been a bit quiet posting on here but I've been keeping up to date with everyone and great to see some steady losses for people.

I'm concentrating on running (training for a run in a May), currently built up to three runs a week and increasing the distances, doing between 5-10km a time. Also not drinking at all for the foreseeable future. So I'm focusing on those things and not weighing myself for a while.

I had a new lunch yesterday that was delicious - spinach leaves, chopped beetroot and feta mixed in with dry fried peppers and courgettes. It felt summery and healthy but not like a 'diet' meal.

Damn! .8 of a pound up! That's annoying

purplegirl13 · 13/04/2021 10:03

Sounds like a few of you are being very reasonable over the weekends!

@2020in2020 welcome. I need to make sure I get out walking each day as well

@neverenoughchelseaboots sounds like you have some good things to focus on for a while. As someone who wears a 32GG I am in desperate need of a sports bra before I start C25K. I will wait another week before heading to the shops, I imagine they are quite busy right now and having not been on the tube for some time, I'm a bit nervous.
Until then brisk walks are my bit of exercise.

Does anyone here do any strength training? Anything you would recommend I try? I'm on the first floor so can't do any jumping around.

My tummy is a bit off today, so my meal plan has changed

B - yogurt and berries vanilla kefir
L - rice noodle dumpling soup (with some spinach thrown in)
D - roasted cauliflower, another veg, veggie sausages scrambled eggs on toast, or an omelette.

I'm off to get my hair cut this afternoon so that'll be a nice pick me up.

Have a good day everyone

neverenoughchelseaboots · 13/04/2021 10:08

@purplegirl13 I'm similar size chest to you and found the best option to be M&S high impact sports bra. I can't wear it for long when not exercising as it makes my shoulder /back ache a bit where it's holding everything tight - but certainly does the trick for running.

Re strength training - I really really enjoy body pump, I'd say it's my favourite exercise and I do see noticeable results from it. It gets me out of breath too so must be good all round. However you need a step and weights so not cheap to start.

@neverenoughchelseaboots Thanks for the rec, I have found it impossible buying online to get a proper fit. Possibly due to weight gain, I may well not be an 32GG anymore! I will check out M&S as well as Bravissimo.

I have 2.5kg dumbells but am happy to invest in more equipment if needed. I am not a very strong swimmer so would like to practice as think would be a great form of exercise. Plus I love being in the water so don't see it as a chore. I'm CEV, but think with all the chemicals, the pools should be fairly safe!

purplegirl13 · 14/04/2021 09:46

Checking in for accountability

Today:
B - kefir drink
L - homemade chickpea and lentil soup (with a handful of spinach thrown in)
S - coffee with sugar
D - roasted cauliflower, ratatouille and veggie sausages
Snack options if needed - blueberries with cream, boiled egg

I've been slack on my steps so have a planned walk this afternoon, and tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well

Knittingnanny · 14/04/2021 18:09

Purple, your menu for today sounds lovely, I could join in very happily with all of that with the exception of the Kefir. My husband has that every day but I don’t like it at all.
Greek yog and berries for breakfast/ lunch
Corn cakes afternoon snack
Haddock and veg with more Greek yoghurt for tea

Then avoid watching husband munching through his birthday chocolate ration. I want to wrench it out of his hand and stuff it in my mouth,
New series of sewing bee on tonight and I’m knitting for a new baby so hopefully won’t eat too many snacks

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/04/2021 09:03

Hi everyone, I hope you're all managing to stay on track better than me.

Every day I wake up with the intention of keeping on plan, and every day I slip up. It's so frustrating. Between Monday and Tuesday night I polished a whole small round of Brie cheese and about a million crackers, I've been scoffing the Easter chocolate like a glutton and yesterday I decided to have some of the kids jellies and I ate about 8 mini packets of Haribo in 10 minutes. Why do I do this to myself?

Despite this, the scales are staying the same which is a plus of course. I reckon the reason why I keep slipping up is because I'm now no longer overweight and I'm generally looking slimmer overall. But I would love to lose just a few more lbs to give me a bit of wiggle room.

Anyway, I'll plod on, I'm not giving up completely, that's for sure.

WellTidy · 15/04/2021 09:47

Morning all. I’ve started the day with a two hour walk, which bodes well for me. If I do have something sugary later, it will be ok because I think I’ve burnt about 400 calories.

I am 9st 6.75lb today, so I haven’t gained since just before Easter. This is a result for me as I had a complete blow out over the Easter weekend and have had some pastries and chocolate since then too.

But my walk today has put me back on track. Now need actually to stay on track too!

Sooverthemill · 15/04/2021 09:55

Woken up feeling dreadful really bloated and unwell. I need to get myself healthier! Going to really try to stick to sensible eating and portion sizes today. Poorly DH is enabling me to eat snacks which I do not need

purplegirl13 · 15/04/2021 10:26

@Knittingnanny I can't drink the plain kefir - too tart for me. I am currently having a vanilla one (first time I've tried this flavour and it's very tasty!). I am in awe of how some people like your husband can just have a piece or two of chocolate and that's it. It is incomprehensible to me!

@SwimmingOnEggshells what is your meal plan for today? I am pleased your weight is holding steady and I would not have the restraint to avoid the Easter chocolate either if I had any in my vicinity either. Today is a new day for you.

@WellTidy I have missed your updates of your walks, I didn't realise how much they were inspiring me to do similar on a more regular basis. I did a long 2 hr walk yesterday and ended the day with 16k steps.

@Sooverthemill try the best you can today, it is hard when you are feeling unwell - I know I immediately go for carb heavy cheese laden meals when I'm not feeling 100%

So I've come to my first bump in the road...I think I am have the start up of a flare up brewing (I have IBD). I need to go to low residue, low fibre diet for a few days to give my gut a rest. For me, this means I go straight to bread, eggs, pasta, rice - essentially a biege diet. I deliberately did not buy any bread today as I am going to do my best to avoid relying heavily on that or pasta. I can have fruit and veggie with no skin or seeds - but I normally forget that and just stick to toast, toast and more toast.

So today:
B - vanilla kefir drink
L - scrambled eggs, with avocado and half a sourdough baguette
D - veggie sausages and mash

Sooverthemill · 15/04/2021 12:16

Thanks @purplegirl13 luckily I'm gluten and lactose intolerant so I don't have that option ( would kill for a cheese scone mind you)

spottygymbag · 16/04/2021 04:54

Ahh friday... official weigh in day and 200g down so now 67.3kg. I'm also retaining quite a bit of fluid because we had pasta last night so think if I check tomorrow will be a bit lower again.
Does that happen to anyone else? Anytime I have pasta I swell up like a balloon! So I'm happy to still be showing a drop, even if it is a small one.
I have managed the gym 4x this week as well so feeling pretty chuffed and ending the week on a high note.

TheProvincialLady · 16/04/2021 05:58

Good morning spottygymbag and well done on 200g and especially for going to the gym 4 times this week.

I’ve weighed myself and am 8st 6, which is 12lbs off since 17th March so almost exactly a month to the day. I never expected to do this so quickly. I guess it shows how much crap I was eating before, which I now don’t even miss. My initial goal was for 8at 3 but I may continue until 8st 0.

WellTidy · 16/04/2021 07:43

Friday weigh in: I am 9st 5.75lb, so a loss of one pound since Easter, which I am very pleased with. I’ve been up to 9st 8lb in the last fortnight! The walk yesterday has had an impact, I think. I ended up doing about three hours’ walking in total yesterday as I had to run errands after my two hour early morning walk, which made me really sleepy in the afternoon!

I had pasta last night too, so if your theory is right spotty I could drop tomorrow! Will report back.

Great progress there spotty and TheProvincial.

BlodwinTheThird · 16/04/2021 07:46

Weigh in day for me and also 67.3kg - snap spottygymbag!

WellTidy · 16/04/2021 07:50

Well done Blod!

Everyone who weighs in kg - are you overseas or are you young?! I am a stones and pounds person, and I’m 45. I’ve put 9st5.75lb into a converter and I’m 59.76kg. I’m wondering whether I can train myself to think in kg.

BlodwinTheThird · 16/04/2021 08:03

I’m neither Well but I used to live overseas and had my kids there and everything was done in kilos. But also, I don’t really want to know what I am in stones as it will make me cry! Kilos is a bit less ‘real’.

Yes, I am mental 😄
