I’ve found a weight loss recording app which means that I will record my daily weigh ins there, and only record my weight on Fridays on this thread.

So - today I am still at 9st 6.75lb, which is incredible given the Easter splurges, and normal amounts of exercise (2 x 7 mile walks and a few jaunts). Essentially, I’ve stayed lost half a pound this week. I’ve been back properly on it for three days, and am motivated to keep going.

I tried some of my size 14 workwear, that I was comfortable in last Jan/Feb, when I was 10st 12lb or so, and the skirts are quite big on me now. So I tried the 12s, from the previous year, and they comfortably do up. So I tried the 10s, from about three years ago, which was largely a step too far, but one of them fitted! Amazing. Ok, they are White Stuff, where the fit is generous, but it’s great to see progress. I have worn nothing but loungewear since the start of the year, which is always very forgiving!

London permanently slim friends’ natural eating habits are an education for me! I too would have eaten the cream tea and the pizza without a second thought. One super slim acquaintance (she is nearly 15 years younger than me though) only ever has one small bite of any cake. Birthday cake, Christmas cake, whatever. She tastes it and that is it. Ok, that is extreme, but she enjoys what she has, works out with a personal trainer twice a week, come what may, and is a size 6. Other slim friends are less extreme, but make different choices eg we would meet for lunch and I would order a Brie, bacon and cranberry panini and eat it all, and she would order a roasted vegetable panini and eat a bit more than half.

AuldFox · 09/04/2021 12:42

Welcome to the newbies!

I’m still holding at 8st 12 despite the Easter choc fest so I’m mightily relieved. It’s really getting hard now to lose anything, I’m counting on the warmer weather to help me with the last 5 lb. Roll on summer!

AuldFox · 09/04/2021 12:44

@WellTidy there’s no way I would leave half a panini on the plate, especially if there was Brie involved Wink

humptydumpty21 · 09/04/2021 14:57

Stuck at 8.13.2 . Was hoping to see 8.12, maybe next week.

TheProvincialLady · 09/04/2021 15:34

I was 8st 9 this morning so that’s 9lbs off. It feels like my goal of 8st 3 is achievable Smile

WellTidy that’s lovely news about your skirts fitting!

TheProvincialLady · 09/04/2021 15:35

And well done to all the Easter maintainers. It’s not easy during feast times.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/04/2021 19:11

Great to see so much progress. I was 8 stone 10.75lbs. That's 3/4 a lb up from a few weeks ago. I'm not too worried as I really went off the rails last week so it looks like I haven't done too much damage.

Still in lockdown here so no social events on the horizon to tempt me which could be viewed as either a good or a bad thing. 😌

IamHyouweegobshite · 09/04/2021 22:48

I didn't weigh myself today as I started yesterday, I managed 18000 steps yesterday and just over 10000 steps today, I did the first couch to 5k walk/run tonight and two dog walks today. After seeing an awful photo that my sil took today, I seriously have to get on track.

Morningmaeve · 10/04/2021 07:59

Hello - I am late weighing in as yesterday was madly busy but I am under 9st 2lb for the first time in years 😀 9st 1.6lb today. That was my original target - I was a stone heavier last summer. I think I'll continue with the aim of getting under 9st. I am realistic about how long it might take as my weight loss has slowed right down. BMI is 23.3 so I could definitely lose a bit more but I'm mid-50s and don't want my face to get too thin!

Knittingnanny · 10/04/2021 09:15

Go for it maeve, we can do it

Morningmaeve · 10/04/2021 09:25

Thanks @Knittingnanny I'm beginning to think we can!

BasilLeaf · 10/04/2021 10:40

Hi all, lovely to read about the lbs and half lbs lost - all going in the right direction! And the workwear fitting and all other good news.

I had my second vaccine this week and have been poorly so no attention paid to food. If I’ve lost any weight this week it won’t be because of healthy reasons!

purplegirl13 · 10/04/2021 11:02

Happy Saturday fellow shorties.

I have been alcohol free for 25 days with the intention of holding off until tonight. I will evaluate tomorrow what the aim is going forward. I am very, very excited to have friends visiting tonight. The plan is to get a takeaway from one of the lovely Turkish restaurants nearby.

I plan to eat lightly during the day but draw a line over after tonight. After breakast and lunch I will have about 950 cals for dinner but I won't calorie count this eve, nor do I want to overly restrict tomorrow to 'make up for it'. It that means a small or no loss on Friday, I am ok with it.

B - greek yogurt with blueberries and raspberries
L - Salad with 2 boiled eggs
D - I am guaranteed to eat halloumi, courgette fritters, hummus, rice and salad. I will limit myself to little or no bread, I always bloat after eating bread from this particular restaurant.

purplegirl13 · 10/04/2021 11:11

For those of you who have lost, maintained or slightly gained - keep on track as best you can, and the results will surely follow.

I've lost 4.6lb in total but so desperately want to get out of the 10st bracket but need to be patient. I'm now closer to 10st than 11st - I want instant results and that's never going to happen

Knittingnanny · 10/04/2021 12:30

I’m starting day 3 of my no sugar ( well the processed sort not fruit/veg) trial and it’s going ok so far, maybe I wasn’t eating a lot of it anyway as I haven’t experienced withdrawal symptoms yet.
Husband had a multitude of Hotel Chocolat for his birthday on Thursday and I’ve put them all in a tin and asked him to forbid me to eat any. It would be ok if I could be more like him, one or two a day. I’ve worked out they will be around until June if he does that!
My 2 pairs of dodgy scales showed a slight drop today, I’m recording 9st and half a pound today so that has spurred me on. I’ve only lost a pound in about the last 6/7 weeks so very slowly getting to my target.
Then the hard work of maintaining a good balance of being careful but enjoying a few more relaxed days of eating.

Knittingnanny · 10/04/2021 12:33

I really need to throw out both pairs ( one analogue and one digital) and buy one new decent pair but too worried it’s all an illusion and the new scales with tell me I’m a stone heavier!

Knittingnanny · 10/04/2021 12:35

Have a lovely weekend everyone. Just off to get 2 littlest grandchildren for the afternoon, going to walk the half mile there and back then do vigorous playing with 3 year old to up my steps a bit.

purplegirl13 · 11/04/2021 10:54

@Knittingnanny glad you've seen a drop, what's the weight you are aiming for?

@neverenoughchelseaboots I had half a bottle of wine last night, and unfortunately had palpitations throughout the night - this normally happens if I've had a lot of wine so I'm wondering if after nearly a month alcohol-free my body was a bit confused. I'm not sure what my plan is going forward but short-term is to be alcohol free for one more week and then re-assess.

I had a lovely Turkish takeaway last night, and of course, succumbed to the bread but stuck to 2 pieces so not too bad. Have some halloumi and a tiny bit of moussaka left over for today.

B - nothing
L - salad plus leftover halloumi and moussaka
D - miso soup with spinach and veggie dumplings
hopefully no snacks but will have an apple if needed.

Happy Sunday everyone

SwimmingOnEggshells · 11/04/2021 12:22

Was it red wine @purplegirl13? red can play havoc with my sleep, I think it's the tannin. White doesn't seem to effect me as much.

Not doing too badly this weekend. No take aways and no cake (so far). If I stay on the straight and narrow Monday-Friday I might see a loss this week (fingers crossed)

Knittingnanny · 11/04/2021 15:00

Purple, just a few more pounds , about 8.11/12 to give me a bit of leeway! Want to try and have 8.13 as a max

WellTidy · 11/04/2021 15:48

I’ve rediscovered pastries, which is a disaster as sugar and carbs together are my nemesis. Almond croissants, in particular. Two in as many days, which is a bit of a lapse.

Gained 1/4 of a lb this morning (up to 9st 7lb), which is nothing really, but I need to get a grip on this before it becomes more of a pattern.

Trying to focus on the way of eating and exercise which got me to drop a stone and a half, and get back into that mindset. And I’d really like to fit into some pairs of jeans in my large stash of ‘too small clothes’. And lose more of the apron, back fat, arm fat etc!

8st 11/12 would be amazing knitting - you’re focussed enough to do it!

purple I cannot drink wine at all anymore. It’s such a shame as a glass of wine is so sociable. It is too acidic for me.

Knittingnanny · 11/04/2021 16:37

Thank you well, I know that getting there will only be half the battle! It will be keeping it off that will be the problem. We hope to be able to visit son no 1 in Singapore next year and I need to be able to waft ( well pour with sweat) around in my elegant straight shift sleeveless dresses which were a bit on the tight side last time. I try to avoid being in photos with tall elegant slim lovely daughter in law or the slim petite Filipino helpers as even a size 12 I look like the fat old short nanny with pale English skin!

Knittingnanny · 11/04/2021 16:39

It’s not so bad visiting New York as a shortie size 12 as there are many many people walking around much bigger than me.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 11/04/2021 17:13

@purplegirl13 I was similar after dry January. I never really felt any affects of wine until I stopped abs restarted.

I think it's what prompted me to stop again!

I'm increasingly thinking of no drinking unless I'm out (very rare and I'm not a big drinker when out either as I don't like being drunk). Or if we have dinner guests, which again isn't more than once a month / couple of months.

purplegirl13 · 12/04/2021 10:32

@SwimmingOnEggshells no it was a rose. I was really surprised as I occasionally get palpitations if I've had too much to drink - but I thought one large glass, and one small was a reasonable amount. It sounds like you're getting back on track and did well over the weekend.

@neverenoughchelseaboots yes, it's not made me want to rush and have another glass anytime soon but such a shame as I have treated myself to some nice bottles - I have some sparkling shiraz ready for the warmer weather. Pre-covid, I would occasionally limit myself to not drinking wine alone. As I live alone,it's very similar to what you are thinking off - essentially only drinking when socialising.

@WellTidy oh no, I share your love of almond croissants. Hopefully you have none left in the house.

Today's plan:
B - greek yogurt and raspberries
L - salad with cottage cheese
D - I am thinking of roasted cauliflower, served with another veg and a veggie protein (possibly sausages)
S - hopefully no snacks needed

I hope you all had a good weekend
