Nice work Blod

Well* I'm overseas and everything is kg to me. Except babies are always in lbs in my mind. If someone tells me their baby's weight in kg I have no concept if it is big or small but tel me lbs and it all makes sense!

neverenoughchelseaboots · 16/04/2021 09:06

Well done everyone - what a good set of Friday weigh ins.

@TheProvincialLady have I read that right that you've lost 12lbs in a month and starting only in the 9stones, so not with lots to lose?! What have you been doing to get such incredible results?

Well done everyone!

I have lost 0.2lb taking me to 10st4. I am coming up to period week, and I'm on my beige diet so very little fibre consumed the last couple of days so a higher reading was expected. I did see 10st3.6 earlier in the week so that was reassuring.

B - vanilla kefir drink
Whilst I'm having a 'blip' I tend to eat smaller meals but more frequently so may have avocado, boiled egg for 'lunch' and the rest of the day is tbc

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/04/2021 09:34

Jeepers @TheProvincialLady that's some loss, I've only lost 10lbs in 8 months!

1/4lb down on last week so I'm now at 8 stone 10lbs & 3/4. Despite my binges I haven't gained so I'll take that as a win.

At @WellTidy I'm in Ireland and grew up with stones and lbs but tend to switch between all three: lbs only (like in the States), kg and stones. I think it's down to when I used to go to one gym and they only had a scales in kg, then I joined another and it only had a scales in lbs! When I started the thread I was using lbs only but because most of you were using stones I switched my scales over because I thought lbs would be less clear to the group.

BlodwinTheThird · 16/04/2021 09:55

I worked out I’m almost a third of the way through: 17 pounds lost and 36 to go.

Does anyone use an app to keep a record? I’ve started using Monitor Your Weight and you can flip between stones, pounds and kilos to your heart’s content. I’m a bit off my target - been aiming for 1kg a week but it tells me it’s .86 a week. I have been a bit ‘cheaty’ this week - dieting fatigue?

humptydumpty21 · 16/04/2021 10:47

Friday weigh in - 8.12 (loss of 1lb).

Sooverthemill · 16/04/2021 11:04

Well done everyone for the successes! @TheProvincialLady wow! That's really good.
I feel so much better today, worked out that it's my hay fever kicking off asthma and I've used all my inhalers properly and feel like I can function. I'm a fairly newly diagnosed seasonal asthmatic and it takes me a while to work out why I feel so crap.
So yesterday was a good day, no snacks and I had my usual dinner but slightly smaller with extra veg and only one tiny new potato. Padding out with veg works well for me as I don't feel deprived!

TheProvincialLady · 16/04/2021 20:41

It seems like everyone is doing well. Slow and steady is the best and most effective way, long term.

To be honest I don’t really know how I have lost so much so quickly. I was always very slim, for years. I think I have a naturally fairly fast metabolism. But I was increasingly eating far too much sugar, every day. Chocolate, cheesecake, cakes, biscuits. All I have done is said to myself I can choose any pudding I like on Saturdays, with a nice meal of my choice (and wine). No worries about calories. But the rest of the week I’ve been eating 800-1200 calories per day, lower on the carbs, and no sugar (apart from HP sauce 😀). And I train twice a week. I actually think the 3 day juice fast kick started my metabolism again and I haven’t even been tempted by sugar.

WellTidy · 16/04/2021 21:16

TheProvincial that is an education. You already deserve that loss.

I eat a similar amount in calories - I don’t train three times a week, but I do walk three times a week in average, for 90-120 minutes per time. I barely drink anything - maybe five drinks in total in 2021.

But I eat everything within my calories, including too much sugar. Your experience shows me that it is very much what you eat too, rather than the calories you consume, that is what leads to a quicker loss.

I’ve done juices in the past to help kick start weight loss, but not strictly eg I’ve done green juices all day and a small meal for dinner. Juices work for me too, and I’d recommend them to anyone for a few days.

Knittingnanny · 17/04/2021 11:17

Morning everyone, my dodgy analogue scales are dead on 9 st today so half a pound off this week. I’m still on no sugar and still focused on that magical place of under 9 st!
Enjoy your weekend

purplegirl13 · 17/04/2021 14:07

Some lovey losses there everyone.

@Knittingnanny yay to reaching 9st, and good job on the no sugar.

@BlodwinTheThird my scales link to the fitbit app, and I also use a spreadsheet to record my weight. 1kg loss a week is a lot to aim for. I aim for 0.5lb loss per week and then anything else is a bonus. I know that I as I continue to lose, even 0.5lb will be very ambitious.

I got some battered halloumi from the chip shop yesterday and it was so oily!! Had that in a roll with some chips yesterday.

Today
B - nothing
L - scrambled eggs, quorn ham slices, avocado
S - tucking into 2 mini tubes of ice cream now
D - TBC - likely to be tofu stir-fried with mushroom & spinach served with jasmine rice.

Didn't count calories yesterday and not planning to today - will get back on track tomorrow.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Knittingnanny · 17/04/2021 18:04

Thank you purple. And been busy in the tiny back garden today getting it Spring ready and haven’t thought about food until now!

purplegirl13 · 17/04/2021 19:05

@Knittingnanny I've just binged on a few rolls with cheese and veggie 'ham'. I have been doing so well with bread recently but once I started with a baguette on Thurs, it's been bread every day!! It's a real trigger food for me. I've noticed once I stop or massively reduce my intake my sugar cravings ease. Good idea to get working on the garden - I only have a tiny balcony and must get that in order - I am waiting for shops to be less busy next week and will then pop to my local garden store.

Knittingnanny · 17/04/2021 19:20

I’m doing ok with the no sugar but probably eating too much cheese to compensate!

purplegirl13 · 18/04/2021 10:08

Another day, another start.

B - nothing
L - cheesy scrambled eggs with avocado
D - am trying a recipe for sweet and sour tofu (will add mushrooms and spinach), served with jasmine rice
S - going to do my best to hold off and drink lots of water

Have done no walking this weekend so need to do better in the week. I am planning to have a bit of a wardrobe cull today - check whether I would wear it (whether it fits or not). If not, it'll get listed on ebay/go to the charity shop. I'm also guilty of keeping underwear that really needs to be tossed so planning a clear out.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 18/04/2021 11:42

I haven't quite got the healthy eating part sorted yet but I went for a swim this morning. Will be stocking up on healthy food/snacks when we do the weekly shop

purplegirl13 · 19/04/2021 09:11

I hope everyone is doing ok, it's feeling a little lonely on here right now but I'll continue posting for accountability.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered good job on the swim

Today
B - nothing - maybe some fresh mint tea or a coffee
L - baked potato with cottage cheese and some cheddar
D - leftovers from yesterday - rice and sweet and sour tofu

I had ice cream late last night and it's becoming habit, giving into urges rather than wanting/needing it. @Knittingnanny copying you with the no added sugar front - from now until Friday no ice cream for me so I can get used to not giving in straight away. It's that pesky voice in my head that says 'oooh ice cream' and then a minute later I have ice cream.

The next few days are a bit carb heavy as I use up potato/cooked rice.

I did a little wardrobe cull as planned yesterday and it was truly eye opening as reminder of how much weight I've put on - I can see it in the mirror but it really hits home when I try on some shorts/skirts that I can barely get past my knees/thighs. A reminder for me to keep on track after slipping this weekend.

This week - no ice cream, and a total of 50k steps minimum

Have a good day

WellTidy · 19/04/2021 09:25

I've slipped this weekend. PIL came round for afternoon tea in the garden so I made scones, which we had with jam and clotted cream. They were so good. Also had a big bar of chocolate.

I need to refocus, as essentially (despite gains and losses throughout) I've stayed the same for three and a bit weeks. Which, given what I've eaten, is amazing, but its not a loss. And I really want to keep losing.

I'm now 9st 6.5lb. Aiming for 9 stone at the end of May. Its very ambitious for me! But at the start of the year when I was 10st 13.5lb, I aimed for 9st 7lb for Easter, and I was only half a pound off. So its a target. I'm the lightest I've been for nearly two years, but another half stone off would (I think) open up a section of my summer wardrobe that I would really like to wear.

Gorgeous day here, I'm going for a walk later. I may even leave my coat behind! What luxury. Will aim for six miles and see how I do.

purplegirl13 · 19/04/2021 09:37

@WellTidy I am 10st4 having started at 10st8.8 and seeing where you've come from and where you are now truly inspires me. Not to mention I definitely get out walking more after seeing you post about your frequent walks. Thank you x

Knittingnanny · 19/04/2021 10:37

I think my most recent weight loss must have been on my ring fingers! Haven’t worn my diamonds or my mums engagement ring in lockdown in case I lost them in multiple hand washing sessions, they are loose!

Knittingnanny · 19/04/2021 10:38

Well tidy, I’m aiming for my too tight straight size 12 Joules summer dress by end of May

WellTidy · 19/04/2021 11:17

That’s kind of you to saypurple, thank you. I’m working today so have done three miles this morning and will aim to do another three miles after I finish work to get me to six miles.

Good luck with the shift dresses knitting. It’s a-line all the way for me. I did buy two button through long sleeve dresses in M&S last year which are very forgiving. They fitted me in late spring/early summer, but by the time eat out to help out came in august and I wanted to wear them out for lunches, they were a bit too tight for comfort around the middle. I am looking forward to wearing them again.

Meal plan for the day for me:

Mid morning: oat latte (I’ve recently discovered oat milk and absolutely love it. But not alpro, which isn’t at all nice)

Lunch: bresaola, rocket, small amount of Parmesan shavings, lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil dressing

Snack: two ginger biscuits
Dinner: two chipolatas, small spoon of mashed potato, loads of carrots and green beans (family dinner)

Sooverthemill · 19/04/2021 12:33

Checking in. Done okay over weekend but having fish and chips tonight! Weigh in tomorrow. I wish I could do more exercise really

SwimmingOnEggshells · 19/04/2021 12:34

Hi everyone, hope you're all keeping well.
Don't be hard on yourself @WellTidy, it's important to have a bit of a break from time to time.

The thread is fairly quiet isn't it @purplegirl13, everyone is having too much fun in the Uk now that so many restrictions have been lifted :)

So I hopped on the scales on Saturday and lo and behold I was lighter! 8 stone 9lbs and 1/2. Amazing, first time I've seen 8 stone 9lbs in donkeys years. Very happy with that. I haven't logged it as an official weight so I'm hoping that I'll be the same again on Friday.

WellTidy · 19/04/2021 15:02

I’ve had a boost today as I’ve spent money. Which always helps me fell better. And then there’s less chance of me turning to food to feel better! I’ve bought lots of plants as I am redoing one of the beds in the garden - over the last few days I’ve bought lots English lavender, erysimum Bowles Mauve (wallflower), white foxgloves, blue lupins, two peonies, a small escallonia, a hydrangea, perennial geraniums and aquilegia.

Also bought some sennetti for pots, and some bedding plants.

I need to stop buying for the garden now!
