Well done everyone. I'm pleased that despite having a couple of hot cross buns ( GF and lactose free!) and a few bits of DHs egg I'm the same weight as last week at 8:13:8. So, j dear 9 stone!
@Knittingnanny I was looking at some 70s photos a while back and thinking how utterly awesome I looked but how totally shit I felt. Sad. I must try to dig them out

year5teacher · 06/04/2021 09:01

Hi, can I join?
I’m 5 foot 1 and 8 1/2 stone. I know that’s a healthy weight, but my natural set point is lower than this and since January I’ve been literally doing fuck all in the evenings and eating two takeaways a week so I know it’s not right 😬 I feel sluggish and also I have naturally got a lot of cellulite. I would like to get to 8 stone and I’ve just bought some scales and downloaded the Courtney Black app.

One thing I struggle with is the fact that I end up thinking about it 24/7 (not at work but it’s the Easter hols atm), and I feel like it can be a bit triggering for me as I have some past issues with disordered eating. I guess I just have to deal with thinking about it a lot until it becomes a proper lifestyle change?? I just know that eating basically no fruit and veg is NOT what I need, and even though I am still relatively light, I’m above what I naturally settle at.

needagirlsnight · 06/04/2021 10:46

Bad Saturday/Sunday and Monday for me Blush far too much chocolate and generally bad food!

Trying to get back to it today, I don't think I can hope for any loss this week as I was only losing 1lb a week as it was, hopefully I can do enough damage control to maintain this Saturday weigh in! Blush

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 06/04/2021 10:55

Please may I join too? I need the accountability of thinking that at 5'2", a size 12 is not healthy. I'm probably around 11 stone 7, or maybe more (haven't weighed for a year at least). I'll weigh myself tomorrow and it will probably be very depressing, but my size 12s are getting very tight and I need to do something.

I can lose weight with calorie counting/low carb/fasting but it never stays off because I don't learn how to eat less naturally. I thought this time I would try no sugar, no alcohol except on social occasions, weigh myself daily and try to eat less bread/crisps/takeaways and more fruit and veg and healthy options. I'm not saying no bread because 90% of my lunches are sandwiches - I just want to break the habit of toast for breakfast, sandwich and crisps for lunch, biscuits in the afternoon, and sometimes a bread-based dinner like steak baguette. I know weight loss will be slow but counting calories does my head in - I wind up being furious with my husband because he's made dinner and I don't know exactly what he's put in it and I can't count it. Which is ridiculous on a lot of levels!

I was also going to try to eat dinner earlier - between 4.30 and 6 is my dangerous snacking time, so if I try to get dinner ready for 5.30 then I'll be less likely to eat beforehand! I'm not bad at saying that the kitchen is closed after dinner, so hopefully that'll continue.

needagirlsnight · 06/04/2021 11:20

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar I'm 5ft 3 and 3/4 Grin I'm currently 11 stone 6lb (started dieting at 12 stone 6lbs Blush) and I was in a size 14. I'm in a size 12 now and hoping to lose another stone if I can.

I'm trying to have carbs once a day with my main meal - usually 5pm when I'm at my hungriest. I was losing 3lb a week with zero carbs and I'm losing 1lb a week having carbs once a day and I'm finding that seems to be working, still having the odd treat when I'm craving it and still getting losses

Notavegan · 06/04/2021 11:44

I'm up 2lbs after Easter, at least. I'm not surprised..back on it today

bez91 · 06/04/2021 12:06

Thanks for the welcome @WellTidy and @skylover

It sounds like everyone did pretty well over Easter and it is once a year so a few pounds here won't hurt and be too detrimental to the journey. I have put Easter eggs in a really high cupboard in the kitchen - yay to being 5ft as I can't reach them!

@needagirlsnight carbs once a day sounds a good idea

So far today
B - yoghurt and fruit
L - soup
D tonight is teriyaki salmon, green beans and rice/noddles

Zoomoff · 06/04/2021 12:13

I weighed this morning and have lost 1 and a half pounds - only because I haven't been well since having my first astra zenica jab on Saturday. No effects on Saturday other than a bit of an achy arm, went for a long walk on Sunday and had a late lunch of cold chicken, cheese and grapes (planned on having a proper nice sod the calories meal in the evening), then suddenly developed flu like symptoms. I don't think I ate 800 calories over two days. I still don't have an appetite. Planning an easy flat walk of around an hour today, but will see how I feel once I get going.

purplegirl13 · 06/04/2021 13:20

Welcome to all the newbies.

@Sooverthemill a belated happy birthday! sounds like you're doing well.

@Knittingnanny you look lovely in both pics, I love the top you're wearing in the earlier pic.

@spottygymbag you've done well with your planning ahead. I find planning helpful otherwise I automatically reach for a massive bowl of pasta. I have cucumber/houmous, apple with peanut butter, boiled egg as snack options - I find it I get too hungry all sensible options go out the window.

@WellTidy I hadn't realised you'd lost so much from the start of the year.

@Zoomoff see how you feel, but don't push yourself on the walk if you're not up to it given how little you've eaten over the last few days.

I have kept on plan the last few days - it helps that I live alone and not surrounded by children ( I ended the day yesterday with 164 kcals to spare - unheard of!).

I have reached 21 days with no alcohol and plan to continue until Saturday

B - nothing
S - apple and peanut butter
L - puy lentil salad with goats cheese and kimchi
D - tbd - possibly a tofu curry with jasmine rice

Knittingnanny · 06/04/2021 13:33

Purplegirl, thank you! I can clearly remember it as I had so few clothes as a teenager. It was a longline cream wool long top with a boat neckline and tie belt. I bought it from Littlewoods and it was my favourite for years. The jeans were an old style size 14 as my waist was “ enormous” size 26”, which was standard 14 in those days. And with no Lycra!

Cowbells · 06/04/2021 14:31

@FedNlanders

Welcome new posters!

I am 5ft 2 and weighed 10st 11 in January and currently weighing 9st 11.4 so it is going down. I am calorie counting but have had a few slip up days!

I am on sertraline and my doctor insists its u related but I only put on weight since starting it and my face is 3x the size!

I'm sure it's related. I was the same weight all my adult life, easily losing baby weight to get back down to my normal weight. I never dieted. Then I took anti depressants and within a month I was up 4lb, within 2 months, half a stone had gone on. A few years later, I was 3 stone heavier than my normal weight. GP said it was unrelated, but after a few years she admitted there was anecdotal evidence to suggest ADs cause weight gain. Partly insane carb cravings and partly slowing the metabolism.
TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 06/04/2021 14:38

Thanks needsagirlsnight, that's really encouraging! How long did it take you to lose that?

Knittingnanny, I would kill for a 26 inch waist!

Knittingnanny · 06/04/2021 14:51

Haha! It went after child number one! I think that when Lycra became common in the mid 80’s, in leggings etc, it led to some complacency about portion control. We were certainly more aware of having to zip up rigid fabric with no give before then. I can definitely pinpoint my weight gain to the leggings and long t shirt summers of 1983 onwards, I can’t blame children for it really.
I used to run up a maxi skirt on my machine onSaturday and wear it out in the evening. No elastic waist, soon possibility of over eating.
But looking back, snacks were not really a “ thing”.
Too cold here today for a walk so sitting in the car looking at the sea with tea and a 100 calorie snack of snack a jacks. Husband eating the last 2 hot cross buns, plus a bag of Bombay mix, plus a handful of nuts and asking me if there is anything else in the picnic basket!

25% off the new arrivals at weird fish with the code Sea25 . Their cotton summer dresses really suit my shape and being 5’2” come just to the knee. I’ve accidentally ordered 2 T-shirt’s whilst he is eating

TheProvincialLady · 07/04/2021 06:02

Welcome newcomers 🙂

I have woken to old news this morning - 8st 10. That’s 8lbs off since mid March. My clothes are starting to look less...strained.

BasilLeaf · 07/04/2021 07:01

@TheProvincialLady well done!! Excellent news for a Wednesday morning.

I had a tough work day yesterday, got home to arguing teenagers and ended up stress eating their pizza leftovers and half an Easter egg. I am trying not to feel cross with myself, I think feeling compassion for the difficult situation is more useful. I’ve planned out 1250 calories for today, three veg and protein filled meals. Onwards.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 07/04/2021 07:05

May I join you guys? Just about scraping 5ft here and nearly 12 stone Blush

neverenoughchelseaboots · 07/04/2021 08:37

Morning and welcome @MyGhastIsFlabbered and all the other new shoe ties further down the thread.

Well done @TheProvincialLady that's amazing!

Not much to report here. I briefly got to 8st 10.4 but with Easter eggs a-plenty I'm nearer 9 stone again Confused. But at least I cleared them all up fast and they're now almost gone.

Still running although about 15 miles behind on my cumulative total if I want to get to 150 miles for the month. Been out running though - and more importantly 3 weeks today with no booze (bar the single glass of champagne.)

Shoe ties! Well that's an interesting autocorrect. Shorties obviously. Blush

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/04/2021 08:52

Well, I psyched myself up to stand on the scales this morning for the first time in over a year, took a deep breath...and nothing. Battery’s dead. Batteries on shopping list and I’ll try again tomorrow!

I had a good day yesterday - carbs at only one meal and no sugar!
L: mozzarella salad with salami
Snack: Oatcakes with cheese and some olives
D: Roast chicken drumsticks and watercress salad.

WellTidy · 07/04/2021 09:27

Scales have settled at 9st 7.5lb this morning, which is pleasing. Spent yesterday back on it so that is the way to go!

BlodwinTheThird · 07/04/2021 10:08

I spent yesterday back on it (sort of! Am on holiday this week so a few vodka tonics thrown in) and braced the scales for the Easter damage. Up a pound so not too bad all things considered.

purplegirl13 · 07/04/2021 10:36

@BasilLeaf I'm making a real effort to not feel bad or guilty with food choices. Food is food. Definitely don't feel bad, you made your choices given the circumstances.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered welcom. What is your plan for losing the weight?

@TheProvincialLady that's an impressive loss

@neverenoughchelseaboots good to hear you're doing well. I think anyone with children would have succumbed to the Easter eggs. Write the weekend off and continue as you've been doing.

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar good job on your meals there

@WellTidy keep doing as you have been and you'll continue to see a loss

I am making good food choices that mean I'm ending the day with calories to spare.

Today:
B - greek yogurt and frozen berries
S - pear
L - puy lentil salad with goats cheese and kimchi
D - leftovers form last night - home made orange tofu & veg, with jasmine rice

Friday weigh in will keep me on track today and tomorrow.

Have a good day fellow shorties

purplegirl13 · 07/04/2021 10:44

@neverenoughchelseaboots

Shoe ties! Well that's an interesting autocorrect. Shorties obviously. Blush
I was wondering what shoe ties was meant to be!
FedNlanders · 07/04/2021 10:46

Good job everyone. I'm in denial about the scales but will weigh Friday xx

purplegirl13 · 07/04/2021 10:53

To all the newbies - a lot of us use Friday to record our weights on here to keep us accountable.

So if you're a daily weigh-er, feel free to use Fridays as a way to keep you accountable as well
