Fitbit Friends-anyone up for a Fitbit challenge?

FlatteredFool · 09/03/2021 23:17

I'm loving my Fitbit and get such a sense of achievement from all the stats. I don't run or do anything exciting, I just walk and am lucky to live in a hilly place so I tend to get plenty of floors into my daily goals. I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me and sharing their Fitbit goals and achievements to encourage ourselves and others? I'm not familiar with the challenges on the app as have no real life friends to do this with and am aware it might be a privacy issue so maybe we could share daily goals and achievements by screenshot or free text or however.

My goals are:

Steps 10,000
Floors 25
Active minutes 30
Distance 3 miles

My stats for today are:

Steps 20,097
Floors 81
Active minutes 125
Distance 8.28 miles

The school run is 5 miles at a minimum and today I've taken a longer route on the way home both times but gone the quick way there. There's big hills involved and I live in a town house so floors are fairly easy to come by. I don't drive so walk everywhere which helps too.

Please come and join me for an active Spring! If anyone knows how to do the challenges/trophies thing and remain anonymous then please let me know.

What is fitness bingo @Huggybear16? And good luck! Hahaha.

Jumpers268 · 14/03/2021 21:44

@Puddock1 is it you on a 158k this week??!!

Huggybear16 · 14/03/2021 21:50

I'm not 100% sure Jumpers. I think there is a bingo card and each tile has a mini challenge. Once you complete a challenge, a tile turns over. First one to get the pattern wins. That's how I read it. I will find out more tomorrow when it begins! I'm heading off to bed now. I'm up at 5am so want to get 7 hours sleep. Looking at my rubbish sleep on there has pushed me to go to bed instead of browsing on my phone. Goodnight everyone, looking forward to getting fit with you all!

Puddock1 · 14/03/2021 21:50

@Jumpers268 yes that's me but you've caught me on an unusually good week! Probably the most I've ever done since owning my Fitbit (and I've had it for years!).

FlatteredFool · 14/03/2021 22:32

Holy moly 158K!! How??!!

Wow that article on 100k in a day 🤯 Did he not think about his socks and nutrition at all? Madness. I don't think it's a good thing that there's a Fitbit badge for 100k a day as it's not going to be achievable for most people and encourages those with less than healthy attitudes to weight and exercise to really go to extremes. 20k a day takes some doing as it is. I think my highest was around 23k. I was shattered yesterday as the sudden school run after 3 months off was a shock to my hips and lower back. They give me trouble anyway but by Friday I was really feeling it. I can't run, well, not unless my life depended on it, but I will happily walk until I drop. I wear my trainers out quickly and once I got my Fitbit I realised why.

Shall we set some of the challenges on the app? I've never used them but looks like it could be fun.

I can set a challenge to begin today? Don't worry if you are late joining, the data from before registers. So you can do 100k steps today then join the challenge after and it will still know Grin

Huggybear16 · 15/03/2021 05:22

7 day step challenge starting today! As many steps as possible by the end of the 7 day period. Good luck 👍

FlatteredFool · 15/03/2021 06:25

Challenged accepted! I left my Fitbit on charge though so some steps are missing so far. I have a day of phone meetings so I'm in for a massive headache and emotional exhaustion by school pick up time so the walking will help massively.
Have a great day everyone!

Great! It's a week long so can always catch up on your less busy days. Thought you'd like to see the bingo board I started with my sister just now. It gives us a month, which is just as well as some of the tiles are hard-core!

Can I join you all on fitbit?

I've just been trying every single possible variation of my name for my profile (very common name). So I gave up and started random elder scrolls words instead. This is now my mighty warrior profile Grin

Stormhold · 15/03/2021 08:15

Is it worth us starting a group on fitbit?

Huggybear16 · 15/03/2021 10:16

Welcome Stormhold! I guess we could start a group there, but there are some users that don't have the fitbit and app. Maybe we could do both? Let's see what everyone else thinks. I'm happy to do either. Well done on steps so far today everyone!

Jumpers268 · 15/03/2021 11:05

I'm happy to do either! Had a 'mare on school run this morning. Son dropped his water bottle on the way into school which then had a massive crack. Had to run home to get another and then run to school so he wasn't late. Got my steps up though but he looked knackered hahaha.

FlatteredFool · 15/03/2021 19:53

I'm happy to join a group.

I think its less a place to chat and more a place where you can set challenges and compare rankings ... I've tried to set one up and invite you, will make you admits too if you join Smile

Stormhold · 15/03/2021 20:03

Admins even!

Huggybear16 · 15/03/2021 20:42

Fab storm, I've joined. Everyone has done so well on steps today - this was a great idea for motivation OP.

FlatteredFool · 15/03/2021 21:24

I've joined. I'm determined to beat Huggy tomorrow Grin

OublietteBravo · 15/03/2021 21:59

16106 steps today - pretty good for a Monday.

Puddock1 · 15/03/2021 22:00

Great step counts everyone! Better up my game tomorrow 😁

Huggybear16 · 15/03/2021 22:15

It was close @FlatteredFool
Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Way more than 10k steps for everyone is great going.

WhatILoved · 15/03/2021 22:26

Can you add me to the group? Cheers

Huggybear16 · 16/03/2021 06:34

Just added you now @WhatILoved
Good luck today everyone.

Stormhold · 16/03/2021 06:39

I hit the 14k target yesterday and had 235 zone minutes which I think is a record ... now to try again today! If I can make it through about 2 weeks then something usually becomes a habit so these next few are the hardest...

Realised I have to eat more too which might sound obvious but I didn't think of it yesterday and woke up hungry a few times last night.

Good luck today everyone Smile
