Fitbit Friends-anyone up for a Fitbit challenge?

FlatteredFool · 09/03/2021 23:17

I'm loving my Fitbit and get such a sense of achievement from all the stats. I don't run or do anything exciting, I just walk and am lucky to live in a hilly place so I tend to get plenty of floors into my daily goals. I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me and sharing their Fitbit goals and achievements to encourage ourselves and others? I'm not familiar with the challenges on the app as have no real life friends to do this with and am aware it might be a privacy issue so maybe we could share daily goals and achievements by screenshot or free text or however.

My goals are:

Steps 10,000
Floors 25
Active minutes 30
Distance 3 miles

My stats for today are:

Steps 20,097
Floors 81
Active minutes 125
Distance 8.28 miles

The school run is 5 miles at a minimum and today I've taken a longer route on the way home both times but gone the quick way there. There's big hills involved and I live in a town house so floors are fairly easy to come by. I don't drive so walk everywhere which helps too.

Please come and join me for an active Spring! If anyone knows how to do the challenges/trophies thing and remain anonymous then please let me know.

@FlatteredFool sorry meant to @Stronghold. Thinking about bread and tiredness is making me lose my mind.

Well done on the 20k @OublietteBravo! And good luck to everyone this week for the hustle.

I got my weekly report from Fitbit today, and I think it's safe to say that last week was the most active week of my life. I don't think I'll manage those kinds of numbers again any time soon as it took so much effort and so much time! My weigh in on Monday showed a 1kg gain so it hasn't done anything to help my weight loss Confused Hopefully it will come off again by next Monday - I don't want to give up bread either @Jumpers268!

Thanks for the recommendation @Stronghold - I got a new sports bra from Tesco last week and it's surprisingly good considering it was less than £15! It's a workout on its own getting it on and off though - it's like a binder a bit too!

Yeah I read a depressing thread the other day that weight loss is 90% diet and 10% exercise. Why. Just why. I managed to not eat bread today though! Haha. But that's only because I didn't even 5k steps. Tomorrow is a new day!! You've been smashed it @Huggybear16!

AprilFoolaround · 13/04/2021 22:02

I read about a scary thing called dry fasting where you don't eat OR drink. Bloody dangerous. I do intermittent fasting, well usually, but have been slack of late but I started again yesterday, and that's hard enough. Nil by mouth in hospital before surgery is torture. I get really thirsty during the day as it is. Madness.

Huggybear16 · 14/04/2021 07:09

Oh no @Jumpers268, all the exercise has made me hungry and I've been caving in to my cravings. I'll be huge if this carries on! I think the "calories burned" is a huge overestimate - I've always eaten way below and still managed to gain this week.

Wow @AprilFoolaround, dry fasting sounds so very dangerous. We could survive a few days without food, but not water! If I don't have a drink within 10 minutes of waking, I feel so thirsty. I couldn't imagine going extended periods without drinking anything.

I won't be fasting, but eating better (less!) begins today. I really don't want to be any heavier on my next weigh in, I'm already overweight.

I am also thinking of starting couch to 5k on Monday. Anyone else done it? I can't remember the last time I went for a run. Things are about to get much busier for me workwise, so I'd like to get my daily exercise done and dusted with something more efficient. It's not possible to be moving constantly like I did last week!

Huggybear16 · 15/04/2021 10:39

Morning everyone!

Let's do a bingo game this weekend along with the warrior. A two day bingo game will mean the tiles are easier to flip and give us something other than just steps to work towards.

Only today and tomorrow left on the workweek hustle - impressive numbers for our first one!

Stronghold · 15/04/2021 18:53

Urgh ... I've been feeling unenergetic and out of it today and have barely moved - over the last few days I've developed a tiny cough which I think is just acid reflux, but I made myself get a test at lunchtime anyway.

Fingers crossed I'll be back in the game tomorrow and ready for all the next challenges too! Thanks for setting setting up Huggy.

You're all doing so well in the work hustle thing, I think I need to get an underdesk treadmill or something to be able to catch up Smile

Jumpers268 · 15/04/2021 20:46

If it makes you feel any better @Stronghold you've done almost double the amount I've done 🙈😂. It'll be easier, I'm hoping, next week when little man is back at school! Although he managed to hit 44k steps today (little legs haha). Thanks @Huggybear16 for setting them all up!

IfYoureCrappyAndYouKnowIt · 16/04/2021 03:10

I'm working this weekend and will be relatively sedentary so haven't accepted any weekend challenges. But next week I'm doing a four-day walk so bring it on!

I'm in awe of you lot - I'm generally a pretty active person but you guys have put me to shame!

Stronghold · 17/04/2021 07:39

I've stepped out of this weekends' challenges - I think I need to make myself rest a bit and make myself slow down for a few days - but I hope you all do well! Smile

Huggybear16 · 17/04/2021 08:56

I feel the same @Stronghold - I'm exhausted 😴
I was full of energy Monday to Thursday, then yesterday my motivation plummeted to absolute zero.
I'm taking my son to a playdate in the park today, and visiting my uncle tomorrow, so don't think I'll be doing a huge amount of stepping this weekend.
My bed has never been so inviting!

AprilFoolaround · 19/04/2021 07:16

Morning all. I've accepted the latest challenge but the Fitbit app tells me it's in a different time soon so I'm confused. Ds back at school today after the Easter holidays so I'm eager to get back into my normal activity levels. Good luck everyone.

Huggybear16 · 20/04/2021 09:32

Yeah @AprilFoolaround we saw! The challenge was started by a user in a different time zone, so for us, it includes some hours before we joined. I was pleased to see I did 20k steps in my sleep 😂

Jumpers268 · 20/04/2021 16:51

I've not accepted today's goal day as I've had work since 8am and don't finish until 6pm. Same again tomorrow too. I've hit just over 3000 steps today 🙈😂😂.

Huggybear16 · 20/04/2021 22:53

Hitting targets every day is almost impossible with work, family, other commitments. There's no need to join in every challenge. It's just easier to send the invite out to everyone rather than try to find out who wants in. You can decline the invite, or if you've already accepted and you've changed your mind, there is an option to quit too (I know you have already @Jumpers268, just FYI for the others).

Well done on your win today @FlatteredFool!

Jumpers268 · 21/04/2021 16:59

Oh thank you @Huggybear16 I didnt want to not be invited to challenges as I do love them but work is brutal at the moment (only work Tuesdays and Wednesdays though so bring on tomorrow 😊).

Huggybear16 · 21/04/2021 17:12

Will be glad to see you back for goal day tomorrow @Jumpers268!

Just another FYI as I know that Cal did this yesterday and missed out on a trophy. The challenges give you an extra 12 hours sync time after the challenge ends. If you "quit" the challenge before everyone syncs (or before the 12 hours, whichever comes first) you've effectively quit the challenge, even if you've achieved your goal. So, don't quit the challenge just because you've achieved your goal - unfortunately fitbit will not recognise your achievement that way. I hope this makes sense, it's simpler than my explanation makes it sound!

Stronghold · 25/04/2021 09:49

Adding this here for anyone who's interested - I only made it halfway through this just now but am bookmarking it for the next time I have a bit more energy! It seems like a really good yoga ball workout and stretch routine.

Stronghold · 25/04/2021 09:50

Ah, trying that one more time

Aprilfoolaround · 25/04/2021 10:10

Hi, rubbish week for me as been in hospital since Wednesday and had surgery so I might not be up for much for a while. I've not even had my Fitbit on for a few days.

Jumpers268 · 26/04/2021 06:59

@Aprilfoolaround I hope you recover soon! Flowers

Stronghold · 26/04/2021 07:15

Oh no April - get well soon! Sounds like your targets for a while need to be things like resting and staying well nourished to recover! Hopefully you'll be back in the fitbit game before too long Smile

Huggybear16 · 26/04/2021 21:47

Get well soon @Aprilfoolaround.

Strong is right, just concentrate on resting and recovering. Try and beat your sleep targets 💤

Stronghold · 29/04/2021 16:31

How are you doing April? Hope you're on the mend.
