Fitbit Friends-anyone up for a Fitbit challenge?

I'm loving my Fitbit and get such a sense of achievement from all the stats. I don't run or do anything exciting, I just walk and am lucky to live in a hilly place so I tend to get plenty of floors into my daily goals. I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me and sharing their Fitbit goals and achievements to encourage ourselves and others? I'm not familiar with the challenges on the app as have no real life friends to do this with and am aware it might be a privacy issue so maybe we could share daily goals and achievements by screenshot or free text or however.

My goals are:

Steps 10,000
Floors 25
Active minutes 30
Distance 3 miles

My stats for today are:

Steps 20,097
Floors 81
Active minutes 125
Distance 8.28 miles

The school run is 5 miles at a minimum and today I've taken a longer route on the way home both times but gone the quick way there. There's big hills involved and I live in a town house so floors are fairly easy to come by. I don't drive so walk everywhere which helps too.

Please come and join me for an active Spring! If anyone knows how to do the challenges/trophies thing and remain anonymous then please let me know.

Morning all! No work today and planning to walk on both school runs so hoping I'll hit 10k today. Although by the looks of it I need to hit at least 40k to catch up with you! Great work guys! 🚶🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

OublietteBravo · 18/03/2021 21:11

20020 today. Almost unheard of on a work day. We had a virtual town hall this afternoon. So I listened to it on my phone and walked for an hour.

Huggybear16 · 19/03/2021 06:24

Great job @OublietteBravo
20k is amazing! Well done.

Is your step out of the box yet @Jumpers268?

Jumpers268 · 19/03/2021 06:32

It's out of the box ha. Going to do it today! Did 16k yesterday so an improvement on Wednesday 😊. I just don't know how you're getting so many steps in @Huggybear16.

And @OublietteBravo that's incredible on a work day!

Huggybear16 · 19/03/2021 06:48

I also did 16k yesterday @Jumpers268
I didn't use my step yesterday - I promise once you start using yours your numbers will shoot up!

Jumpers268 · 19/03/2021 10:17

@Huggybear16 I did it!!!! 🎉🎉🎉. I thought my Fitbit was going to call me an ambulance about 10 minutes in but I did it 😊😊😊.

Well done @Jumpers268!

It gets easier! I went to step aerobics classes many years ago when my friend taught them. Step aerobics was the only exercise he did and he was super fit and full of energy.

Aside from the 999 near miss, did you enjoy it? It's tiring, but great exercise and so good for you.

Jumpers268 · 19/03/2021 13:42

@Huggybear16 yup I felt amazing for it! Better than going for a run (shudder) and whilst it was hard work it wasn't horrific at all. Will do it again tomorrow!! I'm aiming for 20k today and I'm on 14k so should hit it! Hope you're having a good day Smile.

Huggybear16 · 19/03/2021 14:14

Yay @Jumpers268, I'm so glad you liked it. I totally get what you mean about it being hard, but not so hard that you dislike doing it. Finding a form of exercise that you enjoy really encourages you to keep at it. Well done!

FlatteredFool · 19/03/2021 14:30

Great going!
I've no chance of catching up to anywhere near Huggy😩

If you can't catch up @FlatteredFool, why don't you just try to beat your own personal best? Thats what I'm doing. I was just short of 150k last week, so my goal this week is to hit that. I think I will make it!

My son has just gone to bed, so going to do a step class, shower then bed. I haven't managed a full night's sleep in a long time - I'm thinking that getting decent sleep will stop my constant snacking on sugary things. I made fudge yesterday, and I've just finished it off. I can't believe how much of that stuff I can eat 🙈

OublietteBravo · 19/03/2021 20:35

I’ve made it to 110,000 steps after 6 days of my week. Pleased with that!

Huggybear16 · 19/03/2021 21:10

Well done @OublietteBravo! 👏

stclair · 20/03/2021 11:31

Sorry to jump in, I’m thinking of getting a Fitbit - I do more cycling than walking, can it track this?

Huggybear16 · 20/03/2021 12:36

It won't track as number of steps, but you can use it for exercising (you can select bike) and active minutes (where your increase in heart rate is detected).

I’ve had a pretty good week. Don’t think I’ve managed more than 130,000 steps in a week before.

Huggybear16 · 20/03/2021 19:44

@OublietteBravo that's brilliant! Beating your previous record is a great achievement - that's usually what I aim for when I'm feeling motivated. Are you beginning a new week tomorrow or on Monday?

OublietteBravo · 20/03/2021 19:54

New week starts tomorrow.

Jumpers268 · 20/03/2021 20:15

@OublietteBravo that's amazing!!! Well done!!!

@Huggybear16 your calves must be rock hard haha. I've been walking funny all day today but I did the step class again this morning so proud of myself! So so so sore 😂😂😂.

Huggybear16 · 20/03/2021 20:20

Oh yes @Jumpers268, my muscles are solid - if only I could get rid of the thick layers of fat enveloping them all, I'd be golden! Well done for doing 2 days in a row of step aerobics. That is not easy, you've done really well! Are you going to go back to it once you've recovered?

stclair · 20/03/2021 20:31

Thanks @Huggybear16, I’ve been researching fitbits this afternoon. I had no idea there were so many!

Jumpers268 · 20/03/2021 20:32

Haha that made me laugh 😂. Even my arms are hurting and that's just from moving them apparently. Considering how much I'm hurting it's definitely doing something!! Yup I'm feeling really good for it!! Apart from it taking 10 minutes to get up the stairs in my house. I'm going to do it again tomorrow but maybe just a 15 minute one.....

Jumpers268 · 20/03/2021 20:37

@stclair I've got a charge 4. I think I got it because it's waterproof, so I don't have to take it off when washing up. And I liked getting the notifications (messages, calls etc). That said, I don't know a huge amount between the different ones!

Jumpers268 · 20/03/2021 20:42

Oh and the charge 4 has built in GPS but I never really use it as it kills the battery and I hate charging it....

FlatteredFool · 20/03/2021 20:48

I have this one. There's newer versions a dial me now though.
