Fitbit Friends-anyone up for a Fitbit challenge?

FlatteredFool · 09/03/2021 23:17

I'm loving my Fitbit and get such a sense of achievement from all the stats. I don't run or do anything exciting, I just walk and am lucky to live in a hilly place so I tend to get plenty of floors into my daily goals. I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me and sharing their Fitbit goals and achievements to encourage ourselves and others? I'm not familiar with the challenges on the app as have no real life friends to do this with and am aware it might be a privacy issue so maybe we could share daily goals and achievements by screenshot or free text or however.

My goals are:

Steps 10,000
Floors 25
Active minutes 30
Distance 3 miles

My stats for today are:

Steps 20,097
Floors 81
Active minutes 125
Distance 8.28 miles

The school run is 5 miles at a minimum and today I've taken a longer route on the way home both times but gone the quick way there. There's big hills involved and I live in a town house so floors are fairly easy to come by. I don't drive so walk everywhere which helps too.

Please come and join me for an active Spring! If anyone knows how to do the challenges/trophies thing and remain anonymous then please let me know.

I am crap at bingo. I've buggered it up lots of times by failing to get what I'm flipping. Let's do another one next week as I might stand a chance then! Can the tiles be chosen or the difficultly level? Lots of people will be on holiday over the next 2-3 weeks so no school run or time for solo exercise.

@FlatteredFool - everyone gets similar tiles, just in different orders. You can turn the tiles you find easiest to get - if not on your pattern, you'll get a bonus and you can use that to swap tiles/turn any tile/get bonus minutes/reduce a tile target. The targets are based on how long the challenge lasts for - so a 3 day challenge will have much smaller targets than a 30 day challenge.

Thanks for the videos @Mournhold, I'll give them a go tonight.

@Jumpers268 you are smashing it!

Jumpers268 · 25/03/2021 16:33

@Huggybear16 only because I live amongst a million giant hills haha. Great for getting zone minutes (even a 15 min walk to the shops is a hike 😂) but not great when it snows!

@FlatteredFool I've done shite with steps this week (been mental with work) but you can swap out tiles which helps!

Huggybear16 · 25/03/2021 16:56

Get the minutes any way you can @Jumpers268! You're doing great. I was sitting on my arse eating chocolate when I saw your minutes - definitely motivated me to get up and move.

@FlatteredFool you're doing well on the bingo. You've got 8 out of 10 tiles and we are only halfway through the week. Most of us have 8-10 so you're grand. You'll have them a by Sunday before the challenge ends. We will start a new challenge once it does.

Huggybear16 · 25/03/2021 16:57

I meant 8 out of 12

Jumpers268 · 25/03/2021 17:00

@Huggybear16 yeah like I said earlier, my minutes won't go up now haha. Zero energy once I've done the school run in the afternoon. But I did a 40 minute step class this morning and normally I only do 20 mins so definitely motivating me 😂.

Huggybear16 · 25/03/2021 17:15

A 40 minute step class is seriously impressive @Jumpers268 considering you've only just started doing them. I'm so glad you're enjoying it!

Stronghold · 25/03/2021 20:26

I'm back! I walked, I jogged on the spot, I even bounced on the trampoline. A day of triumph Grin and now some yoga ball bouncing while I recover and try not to eat lots of biscuits.

I'm loving the bingo thing. Is it only available if you're a premium member usually?

gettingoldtoquick · 26/03/2021 07:01

Hi everyone, im so glad I've found this thread. I got a fitbit for my birthday and I'm loving it, im overweight and very unfit and its definitely helping to get me moving im trying to make sure I do at least 10k steps a day and most days I do. So if anyone would like me to add them or let me join them that would be great.

Jumpers268 · 26/03/2021 08:39

@gettingoldtoquick welcome! Glad you're loving your Fitbit too! @Huggybear16 has been arranging the challenges haha her username is the same on the Fitbit if you wanted to add her. My name is also the same on there Smile.

Huggybear16 · 26/03/2021 12:57

Think so @Stronghold - I am on a free trial of premium until the 2nd of June so will find out more on the 3rd. You have done so well this week with a dodgy ankle, well done!

@gettingoldtoquick as Jumpers said, most of our usernames on Fitbit are the same as on here. If you add one or more of us, you will find the rest of us as we have a group on there. Or you can tell us your username and we will find you. If you don't want to post it on here, you can PM one of us. We would be glad to have you. More people = more motivation!

Stronghold · 26/03/2021 12:59

I finished the bingo!

I'm a little disappointed as I wanted to see if I could finish more random panels too, but overall, I have a tiny rare feeling of accomplishment. I'm looking forward to the next one!

This is my username on fitbit too, if anyone adds me there, I can add you to the small group there as well.

Huggybear16 · 26/03/2021 19:49

Well done @Stronghold! Great achievement, especially with an injury. I am loving my exercise ball! If I put effort into doing "real" bounces and throw some arm exercises in, I can get my heart rate to 140-150. I've logged loads of active minutes today by bouncing whilst doing some light arm weights.

Has anyone changed their targets? If so, what are your targets for steps, calories, active minutes, distance, floors?

I changed the main 5 targets on Monday. I'm so proud of myself as I have managed to hit them all for 5 days in a row. I don't think I've ever done that before.

My targets now:
Steps - 16k
Floors - 12
Active minutes - 25
Distance - 10k
Calories - 2,000

Huggybear16 · 26/03/2021 20:39

Also, it has now been 6 weeks since I got my Fitbit.

I didn't change anything on day 1 so I could see what my usual activity levels were like. I knew I was unfit and inactive but this was a real eye opener.

So, here is my worst day along side my best day so far (a few days ago).

I'm so glad I got the Fitbit, and so glad I found this thread. I have made a real effort to be more active over the last six weeks and am really starting to feel the benefits.

The next step for me is to make some changes to what I am eating. Does anyone log their food on the app?

Huggybear16 · 26/03/2021 20:40

35k is amazing, well done!!

I log every bit of food on the app. It's helped me to lose a few stone in the last few months and now it's helping me to maintain.

I know that some people query the calories in- calories out numbers that it gives you, but I have to say in six months or so its always seemed bang-on to me. Days when I've eaten the same or more I've maintained my weight and sometimes put on a bit; days when I've eaten less, I've lost weight. So for me it's a way of life now.

You can set up custom foods on the web browser, so I have set up standard breakfasts, lunches and dinners. In the morning I add those meals rather than one ingredient manually. I also have a "meal" for the 8 cups of tea I usually drink every day. It's made me much more aware of calories and made me eat more consciously, rather than just grabbing anything when I'm hungry.

Huggybear16 · 27/03/2021 07:01

Good to know @Stronghold, thanks! I drink a lot of milk with my teas and coffees so I'll need to log that too. I have 9kg to lose. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I have lost 2kg over the last 6 weeks just with increased activity.

Well done on losing a few stone! You just dropped that in like it's no big deal, but it's A FEW STONE! That's awesome Stronghold (definitely keep your Strong name 💪).

Jumpers268 · 27/03/2021 07:43

Had a very lazy day yesterday haha although I did the school run in the rain which I normally never do haha. Weirdly did 11k steps but 110 floors (that is how hilly it is 😂😂). Need to up my game today though!

WhatILoved · 28/03/2021 23:21

Just checking in to say I loved the bingo! Well done everyone

FlatteredFool · 29/03/2021 06:32

Morning all. Please could we have another bingo for the week? Now that I know how it works it should be fun.
Ds breaks up on Thursday so this week won't be as active as usual but I'll do my best.

Huggybear16 · 29/03/2021 07:38

7 day bingo starts at 8am! Don't worry if you don't accept until later, anything you do from 8am will be counted. Good luck!

FlatteredFool · 29/03/2021 07:44

I'm in!

Jumpers268 · 29/03/2021 07:52

Thank you for organising it again @Huggybear16!

Jumpers268 · 29/03/2021 07:53

Also @FlatteredFool my son breaks up Thursday too so will also not be as active, plus I'm fake tanning today so no sweating allowed 😂.

Huggybear16 · 29/03/2021 07:59

I'm in Scotland, my son's last day was Friday. They just went back and they're off again, I need my few hours alone for my sanity, never mind bingo! 😖
