Fitbit Friends-anyone up for a Fitbit challenge?

FlatteredFool · 09/03/2021 23:17

I'm loving my Fitbit and get such a sense of achievement from all the stats. I don't run or do anything exciting, I just walk and am lucky to live in a hilly place so I tend to get plenty of floors into my daily goals. I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me and sharing their Fitbit goals and achievements to encourage ourselves and others? I'm not familiar with the challenges on the app as have no real life friends to do this with and am aware it might be a privacy issue so maybe we could share daily goals and achievements by screenshot or free text or however.

My goals are:

Steps 10,000
Floors 25
Active minutes 30
Distance 3 miles

My stats for today are:

Steps 20,097
Floors 81
Active minutes 125
Distance 8.28 miles

The school run is 5 miles at a minimum and today I've taken a longer route on the way home both times but gone the quick way there. There's big hills involved and I live in a town house so floors are fairly easy to come by. I don't drive so walk everywhere which helps too.

Please come and join me for an active Spring! If anyone knows how to do the challenges/trophies thing and remain anonymous then please let me know.

Glad you're feeling better Huggy.

Stormhold congratulations!

I'm bouncing on my ball and am confused as to how it counts as steps but it seems it does.

Yay for another challenge! Thanks @Huggybear16!

Well done on the bingo @Stronghold. I'm hugely impressed! I've struggled this week but hoping I'll feel better for the weekend Smile.

Stronghold · 02/04/2021 10:40

Hi everyone, sorry - I made myself take a Mumsnet break this week as I had so many projects to finish pre-Easter, so I've only just seen the messages.

I've really pushed myself this week to do a cardio session every morning and afternoon, along with using my desk bike and taking long walks each evening, which is how I racked up the active minutes on the Bingo ... I'm trying to make it a habit to move more and hit those 100k steps. I've also accidentally lost a pound, so lots of chocolate for me this weekend to build back up again Grin

Sorry to hear that some of you have struggled through the vaccines but it's such fantastic news that you've had them.

It's awful that Covid is still affecting you @Jumpers268, I hope that the medical community are going to come up with some things to help with the effects of long Covid as time goes on.

Good luck with the steps all - I'm looking forward to being thoroughly trounced again this weekend by @Huggybear16 now she's on the mend! Smile

"I'm bouncing on my ball and am confused as to how it counts as steps but it seems it does."

Yes it's weird! Interestingly though in the last few weeks, my calories-in-and-out on Fitbit and my weight all seem to match up, so in my opinion, the bounces on the yoga ball do make some kind of difference. I guess it's all about energy and movement?

Huggybear16 · 03/04/2021 07:53

Morning all. I'm just out of bed but can see I need to get moving - how have some of you managed so many steps before 8am?! 🙈
I'll be on your tails just as soon as I've had some coffee.

Jumpers268 · 03/04/2021 07:57

@Huggybear16 I thought the same but I'm hoping possible time difference is the reason 😂😂. My Fitbit is charging and I'm using that excuse to sit on the sofa for another hour.... Hope you're feeling better!

Huggybear16 · 03/04/2021 09:03

I'm feeling much better today @Jumpers268, thank you! Glad to see you back @Stronghold, you have done so well this week!

I only just managed 10k yesterday, I was wiped out by lunchtime. I have been so inactive since my vaccine on Tuesday. I'm hoping today sees the return of my energy as I'm certainly feeling much better than I have all week.

In other news, I have been smoke free for 17 days and 17 hours (I have an app, I'm not just counting the hours 😂). It apparently gets much easier after 21 days so I'm looking forward to Wednesday arriving.

I will start logging food today and weighing myself weekly now too. I was concentrating only on being more active for the first few weeks. I was pleased to see this morning that I have actually lost 3kg since I got the fitbit 6 weeks ago! I'm still overweight, but really happy that I've managed to lose that mainly by just being more active and not constantly snacking whilst watching TV.

Right, I'm off to catch up with all of you on the step challenge. We'll done everyone and good luck!

OublietteBravo · 03/04/2021 21:23

I think this is my best week ever

Huggybear16 · 04/04/2021 07:42

That's awesome @OublietteBravo, well done. Is the bottom number active minutes? If so, it's almost 21 hours! Very impressive.

Huggybear16 · 04/04/2021 20:52

New bingo tomorrow? We will do a 14 day one this time so the goals might seem higher, but we have longer to achieve them. I'll invite everyone - if you don't want it then just decline the request. Good luck!

Jumpers268 · 04/04/2021 20:56

Yes please @Huggybear16!

gettingoldtoquick · 05/04/2021 10:07

Thank you @huggybear16

Huggybear16 · 06/04/2021 21:01

Well done Cal for winning the weekend warrior trophy 🏆 I can't remember the exact number but it was more than 62k!
We will have a rematch this weekend.

Does anyone fancy doing a goal day challenge or daily showdown on Thursday or Friday?

There's a trophy for winning, but also for beating your own personal best. I haven't done any of these challenges so not exactly sure what they are like, but we can work them out as we go along.

Puddock1 · 06/04/2021 22:02

That weekend warrior warrior was an epic! I've never seen step counts so high and it was so close for first place - well done. You've inspired me to try for my 40k badge (sometime soon... maybe 😆).
I'll give the goal day a whirl this week. Fingers crossed for a snow-free day - it has been flurrying away here over the last few days. Thanks for organising the challenges Huggybear16.

Huggybear16 · 06/04/2021 23:46

It has been snowing here too so I'm trying to get some exercise at home. I have been swinging between being very sedentary (lying on the sofa for hours, working from my bed) to doing mega steps to catch up. I had only 4k steps at 5pm today so did a step class then a walk. I managed to get above the 10k but not sure it justified the huge feast I had afterwards.

Glad you're in paddock! As always, I'll invite everyone and you can decide if you want in when the time comes.

Stronghold · 07/04/2021 07:22

Huggybear that's an amazing weight loss AND you're quitting smoking too? You're going to be utterly unstoppable after this.

I'm really enjoying all the challenges, thanks so much for setting them up. I'm in for Thursday or Friday or whatever too, they're helping me push to my personal bests. Like Puddock says, this group is really inspiring - I'm making myself do more movement all day (and feeling the benefits of it) because of this group, so thank you all Smile

Huggybear16 · 07/04/2021 11:36

Thank you @Stronghold! You're doing fantastic, and I'm so glad you recommended this yoga ball. I swear I'm getting abs (underneath the fat 😂).

The thread/challenges are definitely inspiring me to move more. I know I wouldn't be moving anywhere near as much if I wasn't tracking my steps and having to share the data with you all.

Daily showdown tomorrow - I'm going to try to beat my own personal best 💪

Jumpers268 · 07/04/2021 18:23

Hit 40k on Monday which is unheard of!! Normally a push to hit 10k 😂😂😂.

Huggybear16 · 07/04/2021 21:41

Good job @Jumpers268! I love a new step badge 🏅

Puddock1 · 07/04/2021 22:43

Well done @Jumpers268!!

Puddock1 · 07/04/2021 22:50

Just looking at my bingo card and I'm barely making a dent on my targets - no chance of a full house from me! Good luck to you all for the daily showdown tomorrow 😁👍

IfYoureCrappyAndYouKnowIt · 08/04/2021 03:37

I'm also barely making a dent on the bingo - but I am putting in extra exercise this week so it is a motivation! Some of you are absolute machines though.

Jumpers268 · 08/04/2021 07:36

For context hahaha. Yeah the targets are big on bingo. I'm hoping I'll hit the active minutes one and I can swap out for some of steps as they're huge!

Huggybear16 · 08/04/2021 09:23

There are some seriously impressive numbers lately! Well done everyone 🔥

I've really pushed myself this week in an attempt to make up for last week. I'm a bit sore today after getting a new badge yesterday... 55k 🏅 I was still stepping well into late evening. I have no idea if I'll ever get that high a number again - there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day for me to manage that.

Good luck with the day challenge - Cal and Kevin are off to an amazing start. 👏

Huggybear16 · 08/04/2021 10:07

@Puddock1 the bingo card stays active for the full length of time, so you can still get a full house even if someone else gets there first. I haven't won bingo before but I try to get all my tiles turned before the time is up.
