Fitbit Friends-anyone up for a Fitbit challenge?

FlatteredFool · 09/03/2021 23:17

I'm loving my Fitbit and get such a sense of achievement from all the stats. I don't run or do anything exciting, I just walk and am lucky to live in a hilly place so I tend to get plenty of floors into my daily goals. I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me and sharing their Fitbit goals and achievements to encourage ourselves and others? I'm not familiar with the challenges on the app as have no real life friends to do this with and am aware it might be a privacy issue so maybe we could share daily goals and achievements by screenshot or free text or however.

My goals are:

Steps 10,000
Floors 25
Active minutes 30
Distance 3 miles

My stats for today are:

Steps 20,097
Floors 81
Active minutes 125
Distance 8.28 miles

The school run is 5 miles at a minimum and today I've taken a longer route on the way home both times but gone the quick way there. There's big hills involved and I live in a town house so floors are fairly easy to come by. I don't drive so walk everywhere which helps too.

Please come and join me for an active Spring! If anyone knows how to do the challenges/trophies thing and remain anonymous then please let me know.

Aw thank you - losing the weight was easy really, I think keeping it off is going to be the challenge!

Hurrah for the bingo, I've already done a bit this morning and been able to make a start - I'm determined to do better this week and hit that 100k too if possible.

Good luck everyone, and whether we all hit targets or not, hope we all have a healthy and happy week Smile

Jumpers268 · 29/03/2021 09:42

@FlatteredFool I'm not sure you can if the bingo has already started? @Huggybear16 may know though! @Stronghold you're on fire this morning!! Wow!!

Huggybear16 · 29/03/2021 11:03

Can't add someone on after it's started @FlatteredFool, but we can add her to the MN group so she's on the next one?

FlatteredFool · 29/03/2021 11:48

Ah that's a shame. I've sent her the link to the thread.
@Stronghold what the heck have you been up to this morning with all those tiles ticked already?! I've hit 10,000 steps already but only one tile.

Hello! I'd love to join the challenge please. I already added a few people. My username is AmyR12345.

Jumpers268 · 30/03/2021 07:49

@IfYoureCrappyAndYouKnowIt I've invited you to the MN group on the Fitbit. We've already started this week's bingo so can't invite you after it's started but hopefully @Huggybear16 will do another one next week and invite you to that (thank you again for arranging it all 🙈😂). I'm ordering my yoga ball today. I'm ashamed by how many more active minutes I got compared to you 😂😂.

Jumpers268 · 30/03/2021 08:07

*how many more you got in comparison to me. Obviously haha.

Huggybear16 · 30/03/2021 08:26

Aye @Jumpers268 you were killing me on the active minutes until I got my yoga ball!
Seriously, you won't regret that purchase either. We'll be stepping and bouncing our way to awesome bods - I swear my waist is smaller/firmer. I didn't take measurements, but it's a noticeable difference.

FlatteredFool · 30/03/2021 08:55

I'm going to get my ball out of the loft today.

Huggybear16 · 30/03/2021 09:08

Yay @FlatteredFool, your numbers will shoot up. Have you thought any more about getting a step?

I'm getting my first covid vaccine today at 10:45. I'm not sure how much it will affect me, but I might be doing a lot of lying down over the next few days. I'm happy to give up the steps for the protection though, bigger picture and all that. Has anyone else here had it yet? How did you get on?

FlatteredFool · 30/03/2021 10:19

I'm still thinking about a step. What is it you do on you ball?

@Jumpers268 thanks for the add to the group! Some impressive figures on there 😯

FlatteredFool · 30/03/2021 10:37

@Huggybear16 I had the AstraZeneca and was really ill for 15 hours and it took a week to get back to normal. Those who have had the Pfizer have fared better. My GP thinks I had covid last year though and those who have had covid seem to have a more pronounced reaction. I don't regret having it though and will be having the second dose.

Thanks @FlatteredFool, good to hear real experience. I had the AZ one too. How quickly did you become unwell? What kind of symptoms did you have?

With the yoga ball, I've been doing those videos that @Stronghold recommended. I have been using my dumbells and resistance bands for arm exercises whilst sitting/bouncing on the ball. Sometimes, I've just been bouncing on it whilst watching TV - making an effort to use my legs as much as possible to do bigger bounces (almost completely standing up on the way up). I love it and I'm really glad I bought it.

FlatteredFool · 30/03/2021 13:39

I had mine at 3pm and by midnight I had a headache then I woke in the night and needed to keep stretching and yawning and then started with chills and shaking badly with a raging thirst but could barely get water in my hot water bottle due to the shaking . Then I started vomiting and had a splitting headache, facial pain, eye pain. The vomiting stopped by about midday but I couldn't even keep water down. Then the muscle aches started and my legs in particular ached dreadfully. Then by 5pm I was starting to feel better. If I hadn't have been vomiting so much I could have kept the painkillers down which would have helped all the aches and pains. By 10pm I was able to eat a piece of toast. I had a sore throat too but that was possibly from the vomiting. I felt tired for a week afterwards but the bad bit was about 15 hours. I was expecting to feel tired and have a headache so it was a huge shock to be so ill. I've got anti sickness tablets for next time just in case. There's a thread on the side effects somewhere on the covid board. Some people have been fine, others bad like me but it seems I had a very strong reaction. I filled out the yellow card thingy to report. Hopefully you'll be fine.

@Huggybear16 I hope it went okay!

FlatteredFool · 30/03/2021 20:15

Aha! Now that I know what I'm doing with the bingo I'm doing well Smile my ball has been stolen by ds abs he's driving me mad with it. I'm going to bounce on it for half an hour or so tonight if I can.

OP posts:
FlatteredFool · 31/03/2021 07:19

No bouncing last night but will definitely do some today. Extra walking today as we are going down the lane to the farm to see if there are any lambs. Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine today.

@Huggybear16 how are you feeling today?

OP posts:
Huggybear16 · 31/03/2021 07:56

Not great @FlatteredFool

I was fine for the few hours after, then I fell asleep for an hour or so. When I woke up, I felt awful. I've had loads of vaccines in the past, flu vaccine every year too, and I've never felt bad afterwards.

Similar to you, I felt like I needed to stretch loads. My whole body was sore, especially my lower back. I've been taking co-codamol every 4 hours but my temperature didn't come down and my headache didn't shift. There were times through the night when I wished I didn't get the vaccine.

Now though, it's not so bad. I'm still hot and a bit sore, but not regretting getting the vaccine now. My headache isn't as bad. I'm hoping I'm over the worst. Thanks!

FlatteredFool · 31/03/2021 09:56

It was horrendous but once I started feeling better I gradually got much better but the tiredness stayed for a good week. It sounds kind you are over the worst of it now. I've never had a bad reaction to a vaccine either so it was a huge shock.

Jumpers268 · 31/03/2021 17:26

I had Covid just after Christmas and the tiredness still comes in waves now! Glad you're feeling better @Huggybear16. I've got a horrid cold and did 12 hours work today but managed a 15 minute walk on my lunch break. So annoying that the 2 beautiful days of sunshine I've been stuck indoors 😭😭.

Huggybear16 · 01/04/2021 08:42

Morning everyone! I am feeling better today. I'm still tired and have a little muscle pain, but it's definitely not as bad.

Yesterday and the day before were my most inactive days in a long time. Yesterday was about 4k steps, the day before was about 5k. I'm going to try to get back into it today.

Sorry to hear you had covid @Jumpers268, and sorry to hear it's still bothering you.

Thanks for sharing @FlatteredFool, I didn't know how common this was until you told me.

Only 720 steps so far today. I'm struggling to get moving. I'll have another coffee or two, a shower, then try a walk. I've got a modest 10k target for today. You're all doing great with the Bingo, well done!

Huggybear16 · 01/04/2021 12:51

Well done on Bingo @Stronghold!

Weekend warrior challenge this weekend - winner is whoever takes most steps over the two days.
