Welcome to the 'lose 7lbs per month' thread. Our usual host @cricketmum29 is having a little rest for Feb but we can follow her good example and continue to give each other support and inspiration and I'm sure she'll drop in when she's feeling well. Flowers

All are welcome to join, there's a really good mix of diets and methods and everyone is really helpful.

Previous thread is here: Jan lose 7lbs thread

I started last year and I'm so grateful to all the support and kindness throughout the months Flowers Jan was about maintaining for me but finger's crossed February will be about losing again.

1kg off this week so,

SW: 117
CW: 109
GW: 68 (but currently focusing on 107 so I can be 10kg down!)

Onesmallstep67 · 16/02/2021 12:52

Still teetering just over my lowest February weight but feeling okay about that. I think once we come out of lockdown and I am able to get to see a GP in person I will discuss what my options are. I have seen the new 'wonder' tablet which has been helping massively with suppressing appetite. I don't usually like to take any medication unless very necessary but I have struggled with my weight my whole life. It's never really tipped over into any kind of eating disorder- maybe closest would be compulsive eating- but I find food on my mind so much of the time. It's like a semi constant mental and physical battle to stay on track.

GetTheStartyParted · 16/02/2021 18:57

@Onesmallstep67 I know what you mean. I devote far too much time to thinking about losing weight. Any time I'm not actively trying to lose weight, I am quickly gaining it. I always worry about maintaining when the time comes. I only have 1st9 to shed before I'm finally a healthy weight. I think it must be almost 14 years since I was last a healthy weight (I'm 35). When I was, I was hardly eating Sad I'm unsure what stage you are at in your weightloss journey but completely understand how relentless it feels.

Well, I tried to make keto bread and keto pancakes today but both were big fat fails Grin I fed the kids about a hundred proper pancakes and resisted. Made Hunters chicken for dinner, followed by another slice of my lovely cheesecake.

How is everyone else doing on this sugar-filled day?

Howmanysleepsnow · 16/02/2021 19:41

@GetTheStartyParted have you tried Seriously Low Carb bread? The rolls are amazing! I know what you mean about gaining as soon as you stop trying to lose. I hit goal weight at the start of November, accidentally lost another lb trying to maintain, then gained 8lb in December (and 2 more in January). I’m always either losing or gaining, no middle ground.

GetTheStartyParted · 16/02/2021 20:03

I haven't but I think I need to, so many people seem to love it!

Also, I bought some turkey mince and have no idea what recipe I had in mind for it, any suggestions anyone please?

Smarshian · 16/02/2021 21:28

@GetTheStartyParted turkey mince can be good in a chilli with plenty of spice.
I’m struggling at the moment with slow/no loss and not sure what I’m doing wrong. Can anyone give me any tips?
Normal diet is Greek yogurt and berries for breakfast (sometimes I have oats with it if I have done a morning workout), soup for lunch (usually around 150 cals) or baked chicken with roast veg. Dinner varies, often stir fry/ bowl of curry, no rice.
I usually will snack on one piece of fruit at some point.
For treats I maybe have a small choc bar or bag of crisps (around 150 cals) or a glass of wine probably 4 times a week.
I am running/ doing a HIIT class 4/5 times a week and getting an average 10000 steps in a day.
What more can I do?!

NerrSnerr · 17/02/2021 07:36

Hello all. I'm still quietly knocking around here. Not losing much but plodding on. Giving up pasta for lent as it's my massive downfall.
Hope everyone's doing ok.

Tash6000 · 17/02/2021 07:49

Mid week weigh in
And down just over another lb
SW 156
CW 153
Hoping to be 152 by Friday.
Weight loss is sloooow. But at least going down in the right direction. My muscle mass has increased and fat percentage has decreased so I'm hoping that's partly the reason. Can certainly see a difference in my legs and muffin top from walking a minimum of 4 miles daily at a good pace. Just recording my dog walks, I've clocked up 55 miles this month so far. So although the scales are moving slowly, I'm feeling better and more determined each day. Still have a few treats like half a Nutella pancake yesterday but trying to be mindful and not shovel 3 pancakes despite wanting to haha!
Keep going ladies!

Howmanysleepsnow · 17/02/2021 08:43

@Smarshian I tend to plateau for 10-14 days then lose 3-4lb in the next week. If it goes on longer I find the best ways to kick start things are to change them up a bit. Either 5 days no carbs (lose the snacks/ swap them) or a few days 16:8 tends to do it for me.

Just weighed in at 9st 10lb, so now 6lb down for February!

Smarshian · 17/02/2021 08:50

@Howmanysleepsnow you are doing so well! I’ve been just having some really slow progress, but I’ll keep plugging away and hopefully have a loss this week.
So frustrating when DH decided to join me this week and in 1 week has lost 7lb, and it has taken me 4 weeks to lose 5.5lb. I started mid Jan.
I suppose it’s heading in the right direction anyway.

Howmanysleepsnow · 17/02/2021 08:55

@Smarshian my DHis the same! But then he’s a lot bigger so if he eats what I do he’s a much bigger calorie deficit.
I put on 2lb in January, so overall you’ve done better than me in the last 6 weeks Blush. 5.5lb loss in 4-5 weeks is brilliant and not slow loss at all. You just happen to have a really infuriating DH! Grin

Smarshian · 17/02/2021 08:59

He is definitely infuriating! He’s not even particularly overweight (maybe was slightly before this 7lb)

shreddergodo · 17/02/2021 10:40

Day 17- Weighed in at 10 stone 2 lbs today, back to my last lowest weight and 5 pounds off total for Feb. Resisting pancakes entirely as doing the fast800, really looking forward to 'brunch'.

I know what you guys mean about that relentless feeling. I was there a while ago. I don't want to be a fast800 zealot but it's helped me a lot, the fast initial weight loss is motivating and I've found that I'm just enjoying things a lot more than other diets...
I also feel like you can swap to 5:2 or something later so there's a 'plan' for when you come off the diet as opposed to diet then stopping cold turkey and perhaps bingeing as a result?

Also I think it's important to be honest and think maybe you do have some disordered relationship with food. I don't know if this is relevant but I enjoyed the 'mindful eating' series by Youtuber Abbey Sharp and other anti-diet movements. I would also recommend the fast800 book (god sorry I promise I'm not their PR person) but it's very science based and looks at how so many big food companies have tricked our brains into consuming more food than we need or even want! And how diet culture and food industries brainwash us into wanting food all the time and buying buying and then hating ourselves so buying diet products etc.

sorry for the waffle. I feel for you guys and know the feeling. What's really helped me is: focusing on self worth that isn't associated with looks (work, family, friends, hobbies) as well as a fast weight loss diet and doing a diet which is backed by scientific evidence and good for all things not just the waist line. I also really enjoying exercising regularly (even just walking with my music or a podcast) makes me feel 'whole' and 'myself' whatever that means.

Anyways that's enough from me!

Onesmallstep67 · 17/02/2021 11:22

well done everyone, lots of positivity and some good results coming in for February. It seems quite a few of you are already around the 10-11st at most. I wish I was anywhere close to that ! I am kicking myself that I let so much hard work from 2019 be undone by old habits and lockdown overeating. Food is still simply too much of a boredom buster or reward for me.
Lent has begun today and as a somewhat lapsed Catholic I will be attempting to give something up. I think rather than eliminating one single thing I will try to watch calories more closely and include a walk or exercise every day. My aim now is to lose a stone by Easter so fingers crossed.

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/02/2021 08:41

9st11lb today so 1lb up from yesterday, which is ok as yesterday was a 2lb “loss” so too good to be true really. As long as I’m not up again tomorrow I’m fine with it. Going to have the mushroom sauce/ celeriac parmentier that @GetTheStartyParted shared tonight (but with chicken rather than pork to keep calories down a bit) so I'm looking forward to that. I’m going to try the prawn recipe over the weekend too and have it with salad and low carb bread as a main.

NerrSnerr · 18/02/2021 09:43

Morning all. I am really trying to knuckle down. I have had a bad back on and off for a number of years and the only things that have historically helped are yoga and losing weight. It's really bad right now so need to get on it.

Just had some leftover crustless quiche for breakfast and will put a curry in the slow cooker for tea. I am going to try and do the Adriene 30 day yoga series. I need to dedicate the 45 minutes a day.

I really cannot wait for the gym to open so I can do face to face sessions again.

EasterIssland · 18/02/2021 09:54

this week it's taking me time to go down ... I 'm on the same weight as on Saturday... I did 1000+kcal exercise yesterday and day before so hoping on the weekend I get good news as so far the scale says I'm up :(

Goodness @EasterIssland what exercise do you do to burn that many calories? its impressive.
I woke up this morning craving all things sweet, somehow managed to stick to 16:8 and not eat until 12. Currently eating a bowl of strawberries with a little sugar sprinkled over in the hope it can stop me desperately wanting to bake a cake or go to the shop for chocolate. The weather is beautiful today so hoping it stays that way for the next two hours so I can take the dogs on a long walk when I finish up working.
Plan to weigh again tomorrow and see if sticking to 16/8 the last few days has made any difference at all

today I wanted to do compact 1h but I'm so tired that only lasted 30mins

hoping I lose weight this week...

shreddergodo · 18/02/2021 13:35

Day 18- bit stuck on 10 stone 2lbs..., three days to get rid of a pound, can be done right, I think I need to drink more water though!

GetTheStartyParted · 18/02/2021 15:04

Hope you enjoy them @Howmanysleepsnow

I've spent today sat in front of a laptop - I love my weeks off work but always feel lazier! I will be glad when this assignment is done. About half way through my degree now.

DH ordered us kebab meat and salad for dinner last night - it was nice but I wish I had cooked. He also ordered me a treadmill Grin can't wait for that to arrive.

Howmanysleepsnow · 18/02/2021 17:54

@GetTheStartyParted hope it’s not Nordictrack? DH ordered one at the start of December: it was due for delivery early January and keeps being delayed. Their Twitter feed suggests he’s far from the only one...

GetTheStartyParted · 18/02/2021 18:25

Just checked, it isn't. That's terrible, I hope it arrives soon.

Smarshian · 19/02/2021 07:26

Checking in this morning and down to 10st 10lb, so that’s 6lb since I started (25th Jan) and 4lb in Feb so far. Feeling pleased with that. Want to try to maintain that over the weekend and hope for another 1lb off next week.
