Frolicking through February

Octopus37 · 01/02/2021 08:19

Think I might have used a similar title last year, but here goes. Hopefully we might move towards frolicking cause things have got to improve in February right.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. A couple of pounds off this month would be great, but I'm mainly working on my motivation and trying to increase my energy levels.

Amazing steps octopus! Great to see you Hangoverstruggles! Zero steps, almost literally, yesterday as we had a storm plus rain so I left it go. I'll get em in today tho. Have a good day all and drink your water!!

Hangoverstruggles · 24/02/2021 14:14

Thanks @HeyGirlHeyBoy and @Octopus37

I have the blue PON book and don't love it, might have a look at quick & easy.

We've been doing Gousto lately. It works quite well with calorie counting! And once you have the recipe card you can obviously make them again and again. I'm making tofu chilli tonight but adapted it to not need the oil.

@TheHoneyBadger do you know which brand your pans are? We need pans soonish and I've never had much luck with non-stick so interested.

Today:
B ono with frozen berries, coffee
L Sushi pack, small bowl of soup
D tofu chilli with nachos made from baking chopped wraps and radish pickle

leaves me with 200 for something after dinner and a cuppa.

Love nutracheck compared to MFP. Put off swapping as liked seeing my old progress on MFP but finding it so much easier to find stuff.

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 16:04

Welcome back hangover! We''ll soon whip you back into shape Wink You must be very slim anyway at that height.

My pans were a set from John Lewis a few years back. Just had a look online and they don't seem to do them anymore. They were on special offer when I got them so maybe it was end of range.

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 16:05

Today: nothing until I just caved and poured myself a glass of wine after a busy work day.

Obviously drinking on an empty stomach is not to be recommended but personally I'm a fan Grin

Overweight · 24/02/2021 17:00

@NutellaEllaElla is the chicken pasta bake from the same book as the chicken and garlic soup? It also sounds right up my street so I might have to get it!

Hello @Hangoverstruggles , I'm new. Never dieted before, trying to hit 1,400 calories a day which is not easy as a salad dodging carb loving carnivore. I keep asking lots of daft and annoying questions.

On that note - does dieting make you tired? My sleep isn't great anyway due to 5 month old baby, but even so, I feel like I could fall asleep most of the time and I normally cope pretty well with little sleep.

Overweight · 24/02/2021 17:02

If you're calorie counting and presumably not about to sink a whole bottle @TheHoneyBadger then I think an empty stomach is the way forward. You might as well get maximum impact from your drink 🙂

I'd join you if I didn't have to go and get the toddler from nursery 🥂

drspouse · 24/02/2021 17:27

Reasonably good week so far, mainly under calories but we'll just have to see how the birthday pans out when I weigh in on Sat!
Found a good low impact but high sweat workout today - Johanna Soh who I already knew I liked. Tipping it down so that's the best way I could think of to up my steps!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 17:48

Those champagne glasses always look like a chicken's legs to me.

NutellaEllaElla · 24/02/2021 18:09

@Overweight unfortunately those recipes are from different pinch of nom books! I do recommend them though, I'd start with quick and easy.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/02/2021 18:16

I see PON tweet quite a few recipes.. Might be a way to try them.

I've got 15k steps done today, two good meals, but also some rocky road and a takeaway (brown rice!) on way. Happy enough and no food after it at least. Enjoy your evening all. Those steps are my medicine at the mo, feel so good after exercise.

NutellaEllaElla · 24/02/2021 18:25

i'm happy to snap recipes for you too

Hangoverstruggles · 24/02/2021 18:53

Thanks @honeybadger for checking - very kind of you to look it up! I'll do some internet browsing!

I am slim now but after losing 20lb to get here I don't want to undo it all. I'd put on 5lb or so just want to lose that and try to get a handle on maintenance again.

Hi @Overweight - man it's tough with a baby! My two slept so badly I survived on coffee, chocolate and cake. I gained most after my second, purely because I was so tired. Take it steady. Could the extra tiredness be due to cutting down on sugar? Maybe try to eat lots of low GI, filling foods to curb energy slumps?

What's your weight loss goal?

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 19:52

Yes you've just reminded me I used to sleep with a big bar of galaxy ready unwrapped on my bedside table for night feeds Grin I think I lived on chocolate and cold cups of coffee for quite a while.

Know what you mean and good to get back on track. It's so easy to put it back on and I suspect, sadly, that people who stay slim have to remain really vigilant and at least mentally calorie counting and paying off bad days with good days etc for life.

NutellaEllaElla · 24/02/2021 19:55

I'm feelng much less feeble/weak since increasing my veg intake

Hangoverstruggles · 24/02/2021 21:23

Great steps heygirl

Wondering if anyone has used one of these contraptions to help with steps? I struggle on work days as by the time the children are in bed it's too dark and spooky to go out alone.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 24/02/2021 21:32

Yes some are using these!

Overweight · 25/02/2021 07:56

The combo of toddler at home and trying to work from home during the first lockdown whilst pregnant is what was terrible for my waistline but it was already pretty bad. No excuses anymore!

Weigh day here today, 86.3 kg (13.6st) so I've hit the first target which is the NHS suggested lose 5%. Chuffed that this hard work is paying off.

My next goal is 79kg. (12.4st) It's further away but will take me just under what skinny bean pole 6'1 DH weighs. Hopefully it's not too stretching and I can do it. It's what I weighed about ten years ago.

Long term, I'd be delighted if I could get to 75kg (11.8st). Healthy BMI max weight for my height is 67kg (10.2st) which is so far away I am not even thinking about.

Overweight · 25/02/2021 08:03

Good work on the steps @HeyGirlHeyBoy

Please can you share the chicken pasta recipe @NutellaEllaElla ? Thank you.

Hope the assignment is going ok @Octopus37

What are you having for your birthday meal @drspouse ?

drspouse · 25/02/2021 08:05

It was last week OW! I had a pork belly starter and bouillabaise.

TheHoneyBadger · 25/02/2021 08:07

I have those exact ones though they haven't seen as much use as they should recently.

Weighed in today. 8lbs down in 4 weeks.

NutellaEllaElla · 25/02/2021 08:12

Congratulations @Overweight and @TheHoneyBadger, it's so satisfying when you see the results of your efforts.

Here's the recipe. Before this I didn't realise there was such thing as spreadable cheese that was different to cream cheese.

Frolicking through February
Overweight · 25/02/2021 08:17

Well done @TheHoneyBadger

Thank you @NutellaEllaElla

Ah, I thought it was coming up this weekend. That meals sounds glorious @drspouse

drspouse · 25/02/2021 08:18

It was, fancy local restaurant that does takeaway at the moment!

Octopus37 · 25/02/2021 08:19

@TheHoneyBadger, 8 pounds in four weeks is loads. Congratulations @Overweight as well,, you sound as if you are loosing quickly. @NutellaEllaElla that pasta bake looks lush. 9st3.75 here today, feeling a bit grotty tbh, probably hormones, hoping it will wear off.

By the way, I have been through a few different non stick pans and so far am loving this one from Robert Dyas It has a 10 year guarantee and you can even use metal utensils on it which I haven't but usually they say you can't. Anyway, no oil is absolutely no problem which is the main thing for me. There's usually discounts and multi pan deals.
