Frolicking through February

Octopus37 · 01/02/2021 08:19

Think I might have used a similar title last year, but here goes. Hopefully we might move towards frolicking cause things have got to improve in February right.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. A couple of pounds off this month would be great, but I'm mainly working on my motivation and trying to increase my energy levels.

I read that as 313 just for the pasta?

Scales looking ok. On track for a good loss this week.

Overweight · 21/02/2021 08:38

Glad you are feeling better Hey Boy. And also good news the scales look ok Honey Badger.

It was 313 for the pasta alone. Annoyingly I could have eaten less, but it's always a madhouse here at weekends and with baby crying and toddler trying to help I just weighed it out quickly and came back in the evening to log the calories. I know for next time Grin

Hope you all have very step-full Sundays!

Octopus37 · 21/02/2021 09:51

Glad you're feeling better @HeyGirlHeyBoy. My assignment is happening very slowly, all feels very daunting, got to do a lot of work on it today, but at least I've made a start. @overweight I wouldn't worry about the pasta, 313 isn't many calories. 9st4 this morning, so up a bit for me, but I am eating a lot of carbs at the moment for various reasons and haven't been doing very well with my water. Happy Sunday all

Well I made seafood fried rice earlier for ds and ended up having it too and then I ordered pizza.

I suspect I might be premenstrual but it's hard to tell with my now less than predictable cycle. I did remember I had some of those blue fat blocker pills that I hadn't used though and have taken those today.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 21/02/2021 19:24

Fat blocker pills?! Sounds good Grin

Amazingly, just taking the pressure off and going for steps has allowed me take the time to move, breathe and prepare some lovely healthy stuff for the week ahead. Gorgeous sunny day here, was out early. Hope you've all had a nice weekend and octopus hope you're plugging away OK with the assignment. I just have two big ones to go before May and then I'm done!!

TheHoneyBadger · 21/02/2021 19:29

The original brandname was Alli - think someone on here mentioned using them which reminded me of their existence.

Sounds like a really positive day HeyGirl Smile

drspouse · 21/02/2021 19:42

Aren't they the ones that make the bottom fall out of your world, or vice versa?

Octopus37 · 22/02/2021 07:44

Glad you are feeling better @HeyGirlHeyBoy. Assignment still in progress, decided to start part of it again. Had a bit of a melt about it yesterday, just felt very hormonal yesterday. Like you @TheHoneyBadger never know if I'm premenstrual or not, , got a phone GP appointment on 1st March . Pretty sure I'll be told its just your age dear, but I kind of need that reassurance. On a positive note, managed to get out of bed at 7.05 this morning. Had a Fuel Banana & Chocolate Muffin pot for breakfast, it only took 45 secs in the microwave, contains 12g of protein and is apparently high fibre, as well as only being 218 calories. At £1 a go, its probably a bit of a gimic, but thought I'd give it a go. It was quite nice, but unsurprisingly, think I'll probably prefer the chocolate one I bought. Hope everyone has a good day.

It's a pain isn't it octopus?

I think the bottom falling out of your world or vv is if you eat high fat meals. They advise you not to. I didn't think they really did much when I tried them before and most days I don't eat a lot of fat. Yesterday's pizza made me dig them out though.

Scales look ok despite the pizza will try to be good now. Official weigh in Thursday.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 22/02/2021 10:24

I'm down a pound since Sat so I'm on the right track. All I need is a good week or two but I'm going to stick with steps and water and re read my Allen Carr, after that all bets are off. Another gorgeous sunny day here but unfortunately dc8, having started the day great, got into a serious rage and it's thrown us now.. He'll snap out while my head will be melting for hours.. Sad

Overweight · 22/02/2021 14:43

That sounds like hard work @HeyGirlHeyBoy , hope the day has got better.

@Octopus37 I'm sorry I'm not great at keeping track, what's your assignment for?

Have any of you used Fry Light or similar sprays in place of cooking oil from a bootle? Do they help you use less? The cost per ml is ferocious compared to oil, but I'm wondering if it's worth it?

TheHoneyBadger · 22/02/2021 17:14

I have good non stick pans and rarely use any oil so I can't comment.

Have had beef stir fry for late lunch/early dinner and now seriously craving something sweet. Think I must be pre menstrual. Nothing sweet in the house so at least if I do give in it will require walking to the shops and back.

Octopus37 · 23/02/2021 07:10

9st4.5 this morning, not enough steps yesterday. Up early cause I've got to go out early for work this morning, really trying to get better at getting up early. @Overweight I'm doing a diploma in copywriting, its hard going but I'm enjoying it on the whole, just keep doubting myself. @TheHoneyBadger sounds as if you are doing well. @HeyGirlHeyBoy I feel your pain regarding their strops, know what you mean about when they forget about it and you're still feeling the effects. I've got to say I'm relieved mine are going back to school now.

Morning. Not braving the scales after sugar pig out incident last night. My period better come soon!

Must try and get my steps up. I've been really sedentary and not met my calorie burn goal for a few days now.

Need to attempt a good long fasting window and a very calorie light evening to try and offset the damage.

Hope everyone is ok and pleased their cherubs will be back in school soon. I have to try to find washable masks ds will wear. Will currently only wear the disposable surgical ones and they're also the only ones I seem able to cope with without feeling like I'm going to have an asthma attack or hot flushes so far. Soon gets expensive.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 23/02/2021 14:18

Another strop this morning octopus, completely disproportionate to a minor hiccup but I think we've all got a case of the cranks these days! I'm the opposite Honeybadger, I'm moving away from cloth as the disposables are meant to be better protection... We'll head back next Monday..

Octopus37 · 23/02/2021 14:32

The plain black fabric ones are only £1 each in B&M, might get some of them for DS at the weekend.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 23/02/2021 15:10

I think we're just going to stick with disposable. Neither of us get on with the cloth ones and I think most are useless anyway unless they're really thick layered and I can't breathe through those ones.

Overweight · 23/02/2021 19:44

We've just had disposables because we're not out much, so I do use them more than once.

Managed 20,000 steps today! Blue skies and a little sunshine makes a world of difference. Also downloaded some podcasts to listen to. The flip side is that baby DD is still awake because she slept so much in the pram! You can't win everything 🤦‍♀️

TheHoneyBadger · 23/02/2021 19:57

Well done - 20,000 steps is a lot! Good luck getting the baby to sleep.

I've taken the dog out for two decent stomps and fasted all day. I had a few lovely emails from students who are picking my subject for GCSE and wanted me to know I'd made them love it - god knows how because it's been a hellish year running around between zones but I have stayed remain chill and good humoured with the students as much as possible and actually enjoyed teaching my ks3 in particular despite some fairly lively challenges.

Thursday evening I have 3 hours in front of my laptop with back to back video calls with parents - it's going to be manic but I'm reminding myself how I'm a teacher anomaly in that I actually love parents evening once it happens. So nice to see a different side of a student and talk with them and their parents. I never look forward to it but I'm always like ah that was nice afterwards. I'm particularly looking forward to one kids appointment - everyone moans about him and he gets lots of behaviour problems etc but I actually really enjoy him and have a good rapport going so it'll be nice to be the positive voice for his parents.

Off track sorry - my point was I'm trying to offset the whole sitting on my arse stuck on a laptop on days where I can get away from the laptop. Today was freezing and windy but lovely and bright so the walks were good for the head as well as the body.

Hoping the scales aren't too horrendous tomorrow - fingers crossed today's efforts have offset yesterday's fall off the wagon.

Hangoverstruggles · 23/02/2021 20:18

Hello!

I hope you're all well? Sorry to have been away so long. This is my first post on the Feb thread after being kind of off track (maintenance and then lots of binge days 🙄)

I'm having a reboot starting today before I fall off the wagon completely. I'm 5lb up on my pre-Christmas weight. I have lost and re-gained these pounds since Christmas and not been focused enough to keep them off. Enjoyed far too much chocolate / baking with the kids / family cooking over half term.

Current weight: 10st3
Goal weight: 9st12
Original starting weight: 11st2 (back in April)
Height: 5'8"

I've just signed up to Nutracheck and already finding it better than MFP. Aiming for 1300 a day, with an extra 200 on weekend. 2l water a day.

@NutellaEllaElla are you marmite?

I know I can rely on you legends to get me back on track 🙌🏻

NutellaEllaElla · 23/02/2021 20:28

Welcome back @Hangoverstruggles, yes you are correct! I've been finding ways to fit Nutella into my budget so I'm living up to the new name. No regrets.

It's my birthday this weekend so I'll be making my favourite food. Which is mostly meat, carbs and chocolate Grin

I'm enjoying the biggest bowls of delicious homemade minestrone soup for lunch this week, never over 250 cals and literally can't fit anymore in the bowl.

Oh and I made the chicken pasta bake from the pinch of nom book and find out to be tasty! I added half a head of cabbage, spinach and a tsp of wholegrain mustard. Super yum, voluminous meal and around 500 cals a serving.

Hangoverstruggles · 23/02/2021 20:51

Hi @NutellaEllaElla - dipping a teaspoon into peanut butter and Nutella is one of my guilty pleasures. Like a sneaky Snickers!

Pleased to read you're still doing so well. How to you keep so focused? 👏👏👏

Love a filling soup. Been making a pan a week lately, haven't done minestrone but definitely will.

Which colour PON book have you got?

NutellaEllaElla · 23/02/2021 20:58

I've got two but I think that recipe is from the quick and easy one, can't recall the colour.

I dunno you know, I've tried the low carb bootcamp, and the no S thing but never stuck to those.

Octopus37 · 24/02/2021 08:09

@Hangoverstruggles lovely to see you again. @TheHoneyBadger good luck with your parents evening. 9st3.25 this morning, seem to be creeping into the habit of weighing everyday again. My steps were over 15,000 yesterday, food and water so so.
