Frolicking through February

Think I might have used a similar title last year, but here goes. Hopefully we might move towards frolicking cause things have got to improve in February right.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. A couple of pounds off this month would be great, but I'm mainly working on my motivation and trying to increase my energy levels.

I broke my fast at 4 with a tiny 50g portion of ono with added protein powder and I've just had 2 hard boiled eggs. Loving that my appetite is low at the minute and making the most of it.

Managed to get out for a walk and keep moving with bits of housework so on track for my burn goal of 2100cals.

If I eat again later it will likely be another boiled egg with lots of prawns. Going for a low cal, high protein (for me) day.

Don't forget water-I definitely haven't drunk enough today now I think of it.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/02/2021 23:40

Not a bad day for me. Didn't eat more but had a couple of glasses of wine. Need to eat veggies and meat tomorrow. Will make steaks with pepper sauce and lots of green veg.

Side effects are settling down and I'm feeling ok. Hopefully I'll be fighting, or at least teaching, fit by next week for back to school and homeschool.

That was the wrong screenshot and I can't share the right one. Mn is really clunky on my phone. Clicking on links here lately takes me to the webpage of the company they monetise links through rather than the link. Such a rubbish app

@TheHoneyBadger well done, sounds as if you are doing great. Cannot believe its Wednesday. Had quite a good day yesterday, did eat one pancake for my dinner with salami and cheese, also chocolate but not very much overall. Wasn't going to weigh in today but did and I'm 9st3.5 so its going the right way. One day at a time, would be v pleased with another half pound by Friday. Hope everyone has a good day.

I know - Wednesday already! I'd convinced myself it was Tuesday this morning and was quite gutted when I realised.

Well done Octopus - you've got this and you know how to do it for you and it's just a case of being ready to do it again itms? I couldn't get back to that place for ages.

Scales down a little this morning. I did end up having the prawns and egg late night but hey at least it was late night protein munching rather than carbs and crap.

I also have no idea where the time is going. Calorie counting seems to have taken over my life a bit at the mo. On the plus sides, it's really making me conscious of what I'm eating, but I'm such a fussy eater, the only way I'm managing to hit the 1400/day is if I have chicken or fish for my main meal. I'm leaving it as late as poss to eat breakfast, have cut out toast. Chicken sandwich or Nutella soup for lunch and then an evening meal. Normally manage to squeeze in a few (max 8) chocolate buttons, some cups of tea and squash. But if the main meal is beef or sausages or includes potatoes the calories go right up. And I need the variety, or I will turn into a 🐓

However, I am going to be positive and focus on the good points. Normally I'd eat a load more chocolate, and orange juice and carby afternoon snacks and bigger meal portions so a lot has gone already.

Fitbit it is on order and I'm also definitely walking more too. Weigh day for me tomorrow.

I'm sorry I can't keep up with everyone's posts, but hope you are all doing well.

TheHoneyBadger · 17/02/2021 15:52

Broke fast with remaining boiled eggs and prawns. I was craving pizza or biscuits or ice cream which I'm guessing means my body has clocked the major reduction of carbs.

Will have a small portion of parmentier potatoes with my steak and veg tonight and see if that hits the spot.

The next couple of days may include more treats as I'm being cooked for so I need to be good today.

How about eggs overweight? Could be better than a sandwich for lunch as less calories and more protein therefore more filling for longer than bread. Can replace meat in the evening too sometimes if for example you make a tortilla along with lots of veg?

drspouse · 17/02/2021 16:47

It's my birthday on Friday which means I will be weighing in that morning as DH has ordered a lovely restaurant meal to be picked up (instead of weighing in on Sat). I usually aim for 3 sugar free days per week (as in, no added sugar) so I've done Mon, today and will do tomorrow I think.

NutellaEllaElla · 17/02/2021 18:33

So I cooked the pork and the cooked weight is less than half the uncooked weight, making it almost exactly in line with the recipe book Blush

NutellaEllaElla · 17/02/2021 20:11

S'not fair! Who weighs their ingredients after cooking?

Overweight · 17/02/2021 20:26

Cooked vs uncooked is so confusing isn't it! The rice I've got says use 57g uncooked to give 180g cooked for which they give the nutritional info. But when I did this, it came out as 135g so I put the calories in based on 135g and I'm now worried I've under recorded. That, plus guesstimating a takeaway last week, I might be in for a shock on the scales!

NutellaEllaElla · 17/02/2021 20:29

God what a nightmare. Well, i've lost 30lbs by calorie counting uncooked weight so however inaccurate it's been I guess it hasn't been a problem.

TheHoneyBadger · 17/02/2021 21:24

Didn't end up making potatoes. Ds ate separately so I just had a steak and then treated myself to some natural yoghurt with some pumpkin seeds and raisins and a teaspoon of oats and a spoon of honey. That was delicious!

Maybe not eating lots of carbs or sugars makes you more sensitive too/easily satisfied in the sweet treat department because that felt very satisfying.

Food calories today I think maximum 900 (overestimating the yoghurt mix by miles to be safe) but also had 2 small glasses of white wine so no more than 1150 yet I feel like I've had lots today and really satisfied.

Tomorrow will be a higher calorie day.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Overweight · 17/02/2021 22:12

That sounds like a good day @TheHoneyBadger

I could live on steak Grin. Perhaps I should read up on the Atkins diet!

Octopus37 · 18/02/2021 08:30

Didn't do that well yesterday, too much food was a hungry day, 9st3.75 this morning. However, steps were over 12,000. Wasn't going to weigh in this morning, but did and was 9st3.75.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 18/02/2021 09:35

Morning all. I didn't quite make my floors or steps yesterday but met all other targets and didn't eat after dinner even though I was really, really hungry and nearly caved, I have given up chocolate for Lent. I spent the day decorating so used lots of energy and drank lots of water as it was thirsty work. I have lots of things to do in the house today.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/02/2021 10:11

I spoke too soon and ended up eating a fake Kiitkak and a packet of crisps later.

Weigh in day today and I have lost 6lbs in 3 weeks. Solid progress that needs to continue.

Will aim for lots of water and lots of steps today. It's going to be a no calorie counting day today as I'm being cooked dinner and have no control over it and there'll definitely be some drinks too.

Monochrome4 · 18/02/2021 12:49

Overweight I hate the cooked vs uncooked thing! So often the cooked weight is going to depend on how much water something's absorbed but apps quite often only give you the option of putting in the cooked weight rather than the uncooked. And app calories disagree with each other and with packet calories. I just decided to accept that it's all pretty approximate anyway, but still helpful overall.

NutellaEllaElla · 18/02/2021 13:09

HoneyBadger - that's fantastic! Well done!

Yeah i've given up hopes of being accurate with this particular meal. A google tells me in general it is best to weigh pre-cooking which I will in general continue to do.

NutellaEllaElla · 18/02/2021 13:40

So, a blood test has come back saying that I am iron deficient and I feel guilty as if my diet hasn't been good enough. I partially blame my husband. Before him, i'd always have a side of veg with dinner but he somehow discouraged me from it because he felt that veg should be in the meal and that it's not necessary to have it on the side as well. I never agreed with him but as we cooked together I just fell into his way of doing it.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/02/2021 13:41

Thank you. I'm pleased as 2lb a week is my current goal and so far so good.

Overweight · 18/02/2021 15:08

That's fab work Honey Badger.

Nutella, sorry to hear that but hopefully now you know you can make a plan to get levels back up? Or do you have to take supplements?

I am definitely now a woman possessed. I'm hoping one day I'll be able to eat a piece of cake again! Fitbit has not arrived yet, but according to iPhone steps >10k yesterday and the day before and I went a massive walk this morning and am on 16k steps today so far.

Down 1.2 kg (2.6lb) from last week. Pleased with that. In total I'm down the weight baby DD was when she was born, which sounded good until I remember how diddy she seemed (7lb9). And then realised overall I'm aiming to lose more than the toddler weighs now. Bloody hell that's a lot. Going to forget that and go back to thinking about it week but week! Thanks for the continued support, it's so helpful.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/02/2021 15:14

Must have cross posted with you Nutella - didn't see about your iron levels. Nothing to feel guilty about! My diet is frequently appalling but my iron levels are generally ok (just too low to give blood once but not low enough for doctor level concern itms). I'd recommend spatone - it's sachets of a very natural and gentle form of iron that you can add to a glass of water or juice and doesn't mess up digestive system as much as iron tablets. Obviously diet is ideal for nutrition but sometimes we need a little help. I have a vitamin d deficiency and so take it every day.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/02/2021 17:39

See that just tells me I can drink a bottle of Prosecco and it be less than 6 chocolate digestives.

Which to me makes alcohol better calorific value than biscuits. I could stop after a bottle more easily than I could less than halfway down a packet of biscuits.
