Frolicking through February

Octopus37 · 01/02/2021 08:19

Think I might have used a similar title last year, but here goes. Hopefully we might move towards frolicking cause things have got to improve in February right.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. A couple of pounds off this month would be great, but I'm mainly working on my motivation and trying to increase my energy levels.

Thanks, i'll have a look. And i'll eat more veg.

If you drink the bottle of Prosecco, what are the chances you'll NOT snaffle the biscuits as well?

drspouse · 18/02/2021 19:39

I'm trying not to eat the chocolate as I have a migraine but I'm not remotely tempted by prosecco, in consequence.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 18/02/2021 23:21

I am hungry tonight. IF is always hard at 8-midnight I find. Prime snacking time. I have resisted though and am too tired to do anything now except sleep. I've been having a massive sort out in the house this week as well as decorating and my days have been busy. I've been growling and feeling sick hungry by the time I've even realised it's a meal time. That's good I think? Sticking to 1500 calories is proving hard despite drinking loads of water. I must have had at least 2 litres today.
I weighed after breakfast this morning and had had 2 cups of tea, a glass of water, and a buttered toasted muffin and weighed 61.1kg.

Good point! I won't be drinking whole bottles generally was just looking up calories.

I do like one or two very long gin and slimline tonics of an evening and drinking at that level doesn't make me eat crap and doesn't equate to too many calories.

I've had a crazy whoosh. I was a bit disappointed with my weigh in yesterday as it had been lower at points in the week but today I'm 3lbs down Confused I did have a bm finally but that can't account for 3lbs surely?!

NutellaEllaElla · 19/02/2021 08:25

Whooshes are nuts aren't they! Nice one, you're on a roll!

drspouse · 19/02/2021 08:29

No loss this week, in fact I've put on 1/4lb but I'm not sure I'm going to count it as it's my birthday!

NutellaEllaElla · 19/02/2021 08:36

Birthday calories def don't count!

Octopus37 · 19/02/2021 08:52

@TheHoneyBadger massive well done, saw your post yesterday, six pounds in three weeks is loads. @drspouse Birthday calories certainly do not count. I had an unexpected drop today, 9st2.5 which I really didn't expect and dont quite believe, especially as I was hungry and ate too much yesterday. My steps were good yesterday though, over 15,000. Onwards and downwards

@TheHoneyBadger that must have been one heck of a poo!
Happy birthday drspouse!

60.75kg this morning. I would love a whoosh but it's not going to happen until I get walking regularly.

Have a good day!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 19/02/2021 09:31

Well done Honeybadger and octopus that's a great drop Star

I've had a bad week food wise and not brilliant steps wise so back to where I was 2 weeks ago 9st3.25. 20k steps yesterday but late night blueberry muffins unhelpful. I can't seem to shake myself in current situation, I have 3 great meals but it's the lone snacking that I'm not taking control of. So I'm going to say see you all this day week, I'm going to stop fretting and give time to steps, water and sleep. Aiming to get back into short runs. Will aim for how I'm feeling rather than weighing for now and see does it help a little. Have a great weekend all.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/02/2021 11:34

Wasn't a particularly substantial poo I will only believe that 3lbs is gone if it's still gone in the coming days. That would be a 9lb loss in 22 days. I'm trying to not get attached to it.

Well done octopus. Definitely back in the game.

Heygirl how you feel is so important. Good call to maybe back away from the scales for a bit and be kind to yourself.

I'm very sluggish today and not meeting my hourly movement targets. I'm drinking lots of water as I feel a bit dehydrated and will get a couple of short walks in.

NutellaEllaElla · 19/02/2021 17:45

@TheHoneyBadger did you notice any weight gain with that spatone? I've heard that iron tablets can cause weight gain in women which is a bit shit. Will ask the GP

Octopus37 · 19/02/2021 18:24

@HeyGirlHeyBoy look after yourself, sounds as if you need to have a break and be kind to yourself. @NutellaEllaElla I had to take iron tablets a few years ago and they didn't cause any weight gain. Hope you are on the mend soon.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 19/02/2021 19:04

Don't know Nutella and only used it every now and then because too much iron is problematic apparently. All I know is that the tablets can effect your digestive system quite significantly and that was an issue for me.

Had lunch at parents today and my dad's idea of a portion size is still stuck at what he needed when he was a farmer out in the fields lambing all day and night 45 years ago and I drank beer for the first time in ages so definitely a fuck it day. I was given a twirl from the 'sweet tin' like a kid which I'm going to relish shortly.

One day can't hurt. I only get to see them once at the end of each school holiday when I'm not at risk of being contaminated because I haven't been in work for a week.

I might actually not get on the scales tomorrow.

NutellaEllaElla · 19/02/2021 19:27

Thanks, I think what i heard is an unsubstantiated rumour, it's not a listed side effect.

Anyway, Happy Friday everyone! Phew! It's been a heck of a week for me, work-wise. I'm looking forward to my fish and chips tomorrow and relaxing in general this weekend. I may cycle on Sunday.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/02/2021 19:48

Maybe it was the constipation that did it? I've proved a bowel movement can have massive impact on weight Wink

I have delayed marking a set of assessments and creating and recording a few lessons all week so it's got to be done this weekend. It has been really nice to actually take five days off though. Enjoy your fish and chips.

Octopus37 · 20/02/2021 09:38

Had a take away last night so not that good a day for me, not too worried though. Aiming to do reasonably well over the weekend. @TheHoneyBadger glad you got to see your parents. Got to start my next assignment this weekend, always find it a bit nerve wracking but I've got to crack on.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 20/02/2021 11:24

You can do it Octopus. I'm still procrastinating with work. Found myself starting a cpd course on domestic violence and it's impact on children despite having tangible things that need doing on a deadline Confused It reminds me of essay avoidance at uni where I'd come home and find my housemate had washed up and rearranged the furniture and would be like hmm do you have an essay due by any chance?

I only did a quick step on the scales this morning and could see weight is up but not up on Thursday just up on yesterdays whoosh down number so that's ok. Aiming for a good fasting window today and then high protein low carb.

Overweight · 20/02/2021 19:43

Bit of a shocker here today... I've had NOTHING all day apart from Weetabix this morning and a sandwich for lunch until dinner, and thought I'd have room for a glass of Cava this evening. Dinner was chicken pasta, and I'd bought wholewheat pasta. Turns out it's still a hideous number of calories (313 per portion). I'm gutted!

TheHoneyBadger · 20/02/2021 19:51

Sorry to say but pasta is not your friend. I've pretty much cut it out apart from making a very rare pasta bake. I find if I have it I want to have a lot of it for it to be satisfying and it's actually easier to just not have it than to try and be content with a measly portion personally.

Maybe just have the sauce and chicken with a heap of green veg next time? Sorry - pasta was my comfort food for a long time so I understand the grieving Grin

I've fasted all day today to try and repay a couple of more calorific days. It's been fairly easy so far but now I'm hankering over a gin and a tonic.

Overweight · 20/02/2021 20:02

You're not wrong! I know carbs in general aren't good, but I've just skipped back through all my meals since I started recording them two weeks ago and it's pretty much the worst one. Just didn't realise it was so bad... which obviously goes a long way to explaining why I'm so overweight!

Overweight · 20/02/2021 20:03

I have no idea how you manage to fast all day. No way I could do that!

TheHoneyBadger · 20/02/2021 20:13

It suits me. It gives my wonky digestive system a rest which is a bonus and I tend to generally feel better and be less puffy and bloated feeling when I'm incorporating it into my life.

We all find our own ways and personally I also seem to have cycles where I am or aren't in the zone sometimes with seemingly no reason.

Think the general theme that I've taken from this thread over however long is we just have to keep plodding on and doing the best we can at the time.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 20/02/2021 20:42

Just popping in to say thanks for the good wishes. Feeling better and had a good food and steps today today. In bed as I'm exhausted these days, who knows why. Will be back on Fri with weigh in or if I step on and have better news I'll probably want to share. Hope assignment going well octopus!

NutellaEllaElla · 20/02/2021 22:09

I can't live without pasta but you do have to be a bit crafty to make it a decent portion and fit in your budget. I add cauliflower to my Mac and cheese, use zero fat Greek yoghurt instead of creme fraiche for sauces etc. 313 cals for an evening meal seems pretty low though? I usually aim for around 500 for dinner.
