Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

So weight in in 7 days🙈 That's how I do it😂

Mine is also tomorrow. I stalled for a week due to some digestive issues (odd with the amount of live yogurt and fermented veg I eat) so hoping for movement.

Wow @1lbperweek you’re doing well!

Down 500g this week, or two packs of butter off my body, as I like to think of it! It’s good because even if you have a slow week you can imagine even one pack of butter, or a half, being scraped off your thighs. It all counts!

I can’t wait, though , for the gym to re-open, the Lido to re-open and to be able to go on proper walks away from home: fell walking, The S Downs Way, new paths. I am so fed up with muddy London parks!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 01/02/2021 09:04

Weigh day for me- I've maintained at 9 stone 5 lbs, same as last week.
But I'm ok with that as I couldn't have expected to have lost anything after eating cake, biscuits, crisps & nuts (during a crazy binge Friday when I told myself I deserved a treat!!!)

Back on it today - have scheduled in a lunch time walk and will make sure I eat healthily. I've had apple & Greek yogurt for breakfast with a smaller glass of orange juice than I usually have. (Top Tip- you only need 150ml of fruit juice for it to count as 1 of your 5 a day so I've cut down from a glass of 250ml).

Good luck this week everyone!

wineymummy · 01/02/2021 09:30

Love the packs of butter analogy! Though it's so gross to think how many packs of spare butter I'm carrying right now 😳. Well done everyone on maintaining and steadily losing. After my blip over the weekend I'm back to steadily losing 100/200g a day. My typical day is either scrambled eggs or Greek yoghurt with peanut butter for breakfast, a salad or eggs for lunch, and dinner tends to be my biggest meal with something like courgetti bolognaise or cauliflower rice and curry. Also having a diet coke or coffee every time I get itchy for a snack, or a small square of very dark chocolate. I've started having a small amount to drink now, I managed 3 weeks of dry Jan but isolating with a baby and a pre-schooler is killing me! It does keep my step count up tho!

1lbperweek · 01/02/2021 09:38

Well done everyone! So pleased with how well we are all doing.

First day of no fizzy till teatime for me. Wish me luck! The squash is not cutting it so far.

I need a pack of butter off each side of my face! It’s a shame we can’t choose where we lose it isn’t it?

Butterfly - maintaining is fair enough - I think of it as in the old days every week, almost, was a 'gain weight' week, so plateauing is still ahead.

You're doing well Winey

Snacking is the big hurdle, isn't it? the daily challenge!

I bought some really expensive Spanish ham at the weekend, in very thin slices. It is so gorgeous and intense and complex in taste, and way too expensive to scoff in big amounts, so that is my afternoon snack, with a (also expensive) rye sourdough cracker. I am trying to treat myself through taste and luxury, rather than finishing off Celebrations as I was in the weeks after Christmas.

Dark choc is also good for you in small amounts - iron etc. So I will have a couple of squares maybe. Green and Black or Lindt or similar. I tend to eat things more sparingly if it is relatively expensive - my 'low church' upbringing, or maybe natural meanness Grin

Otherwise, raw carrots, a mug of Miso soup, half a mug of cocoa (not hot choc) with semi-skim and a quarter of a teaspoon of sugar.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 01/02/2021 09:48

LOL 1lbperweek . The flab on my tum thinks I can't see it, and it can just sit there while everything else gets a bit thinner. No, belly, I am on your case!

Good luck with the no fizz.

You do have to reset your habits, I think. It took me less than a week, though, to stop eating toast all day. Keep yourself distracted and busy and when you do think of it give yourself a big pat on the back for your virtue and willpower in not drinking it. Feed off your own success. You can do it!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 01/02/2021 09:54

My wobble is gone. Yay. Back on tack, nearly, just half a kilo behind.

Good jobe everyone!

SquirtleSquad · 01/02/2021 09:56

I've weighed anyway despite the dominos last night Blush 1.5lbs down this week which I'm really really happy with! 1lb away from my first goal that I needed to reach for my surgery in March! I'm going to keep going after I hit that goal as ideally I'd like to get to 12 stone!

04/01/2021 - 15st 8lbs
11/01/2021 - 15st 1.5lbs (-6.5lbs)
18/01/2021 - 14st 13lbs (-2.5lbs)
25/01/2021 - 14st 10.5lbs (-2.5lbs)
01/02/2021 - 14st 9lbs (-1.5lbs)

Total loss 13lbs

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 01/02/2021 09:59

Wow! Well done SchrodingersImmigrant and SquirtleSquad !

Humphriescushion · 01/02/2021 10:19

Well done shrod and squirtle!
I also have a square of lindt dark chocolate in the evening if i need it, it feels like a treat and is usually enough.
I am also not a big water drinker but i like fizzy water and were given a soda stream some time ago and like that water. I sometimes add a dash of low calorie syrup to encourage me to drink more and is lovely. Not the soda stream ones ( have never tried them but they maybe nice as well) i like the pomegranate and the cranberry one,.
Not weighing till friday but good luck everyone!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 01/02/2021 11:04

Brilliant losses everyone, well done! Love the butter analogy, I will focus on that. I wish we could choose where we lose it. As I get older (am 43), I feel like my face and upper body are getting scrawny while I continue to pack on weight on my lower body. I want to lose a few packs off my thighs Grin

Good luck with the fizz challenge today @1lbperweek! Keep focussed on how great you will feel by the end of the day when you manage it.

CaptainCallisto · 01/02/2021 11:17

I've maintained this week. I'm three days overdue though, so I'm hoping I might show a decent loss next week. I'm pleased not to have gained though as I was convinced I would have!

Well done everyone on this week!

LJC1234 · 02/02/2021 18:30

I totally lost this post! So glad I found it again!

I finished January 5 pounds less than I started 😀

Snack and chocolate free January is being extended into February with a big huge focus on my 10k steps a day!

I would love to be 6 pounds lighter at the end of Feb

Well done everyone on their losses !

wineymummy · 03/02/2021 07:54

Keep up the good work everyone!
Freaky, my face remains round despite all my best efforts to slim it down. For me I can lose tummy fat easily but I carry so much spare on my bum and thighs. Mind you I wore my skinny jeans all day yesterday and didn't even feel tempted to unbutton them by the evening. I've tightened my belt up a loop too. Had such a good day yesterday, had a prawn stir-fry which shrunk to nothing in the pan so ended up going to bed hungry, and the scales have resolutely refused to budge overnight. Hoping for a bigger loss in the next couple of days. Out of isolation here so will be getting out for a walk with the kids after lunch if it ever stops raining 😭

ButterflyOfFreedom · 04/02/2021 07:39

Well done on the losses people!

I'm having an ok week so far though last night I was hungry and ate a (large) bowl of cereal followed by a small bar of dark chocolate after my evening meal!
Still, I don't see this as junk / unhealthy snacks and know it's much better than indulging on crisps & biscuits which is probably what I would have done before committing to this!

Will see what the scales say on Monday....!!

1lbperweek · 04/02/2021 08:31

Quick update from me and will catch up properly later. Gained 2lbs on my weigh in on Tuesday and still showing yesterday and today. Sticking with it and hoping it’s just because I’m due on in the next week or so. It’s set me back for my target of half a stone by early March though which is disappointing.

Hope you’re all doing ok!

OP posts:
SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/02/2021 08:58

It will be that @1lbperweek. Whenever my weight moves up for few days like this I remind myself that i didn't eat 14000+ calories so it's just water.

I did however had maccies last night over the allowance so I am now taking it off bit by bit next few days🙄

MonicaBingaling · 04/02/2021 10:59

Morning everyone, nearly been in tears this morning as the scales have shown an 8lb gain 😭

I know some of that is because I am on my period, but I’ve been eating junk and takeaways for about 4-5 days straight which I know is so silly but lockdown and life’s stresses just made me want to eat everything in sight!

I am going to try my best getting back on track from today.

SquirtleSquad · 04/02/2021 14:32

@MonicaBingaling don't beat yourself up about it - we are living in unprecedented times and it's harder than ever to do day to day things let alone shift the lbs!!

You'll get back on track. Be kind to yourself Thanks

MonicaBingaling · 04/02/2021 15:01

Thank you @SquirtleSquad

CaptainCallisto · 04/02/2021 15:11

I too have been struggling this week. I'm over a week overdue (no worries about pregnancy) and I'm bloaty, miserable, and craving carbs and comfort food. It doesn't help that the weather has been atrocious here (the bottom half of the village is flooded) and all our usual walks are impassable at the moment. We've not left the house for days!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/02/2021 15:18

It looks like this week is a killer. Something in the air I guess.
I have concluded that Maccies' katsu nuggets are not worth the calories because they are quite shit. Lesson learned, but haven't had maccies for over a year so not so bad. But no katsu nuggets again.

I am also being bery wobbly about smoking. I stopped in 2019 but this week I would murder for a ciggy.

@@MonicaBingaling we all have bad weeks. Just start slowly going towards the good things and it will get better. It's hard to say "no takeaway" and stick with it, but it's doable at some point. I doubt you put on 4 kilo. If you eat lots of crap lots of it will be water because this food is usually salty as fuck. The rest will go soon too.
