Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

I think I might have found my people! I have tried to lose weight in the past and been disappointed by small losses and my complete lack of will power! I decided to try to lose 1lb a week this year so that by the time we go back into actual work again I might have lost quite a bit. Well that’s the plan anyway.

So since Jan 2nd I’ve had no chocolate, no snacks between meals and no takeaways. This is a record for my will power!

Week 1 - 1.5lb loss
Week 2 - 1.5lb loss
Week 3 - 1lb loss

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 25/01/2021 15:11

Well done @CaptainCallisto and @Jellifer on your losses.

MonicaBingaling · 26/01/2021 07:20

Morning everyone

So I’m on day 2 of diet and weighed myself this morning. I was so nervous as haven’t weighed for weeks and I KNEW I’d gained lots because I can feel it in myself (clothes etc)

Anyway I’m 9st 6. So I know where I am now. Using my fitness pal and tracking calories in there and just going to try my best today!

Hope everyone has a good day x

wineymummy · 26/01/2021 07:34

Hello everyone. Sorry replying on the rubbish android app and I can't see any of the previous posts so probably can't tag. Well done Captain Callisto on that loss! 1lb I hope your day for better and you're feeling ok. Monicabing we are a friendly lot I think. Welcome to all the newbies.
I'm weighing in the same as last Thursday, up 0.2kg since Saturday morning, but the weekend was very naughty with Thai takeaway and birthday cake and lovely wine. Back on being good from yesterday so might see a small overall drop this week. I'm really close to getting into the 70s so going to stay strong and try to stay off the wine!

1lbperweek · 26/01/2021 09:13

Good morning everyone! Thanks for the sympathy yesterday. Was just having one of those days, sick of Covid spoiling everything!

Just weighed and am still 10.12 so that’s another lb since last official weigh day. So happy. I’m loving these consistent losses. My lovely kids brought me breakfast in bed (a bagel with butter and a cup of water) and I didn’t have the heart to tell them I needed to weigh first so I weighed after I’d eaten.

Welcome again to the newbies! Well done on all the losses everyone. It’s just fantastic. Love the motivation and positivity on this thread.

@wineymummy the main thing is you’re still sticking with it even after a naughty weekend! It’s so easy to just think ‘ah there’s no point anymore’ after a weekend like that I think.

I saw a thing on Facebook this morning from a weight loss/PT type saying you can burn the same calories stepping on the spot as you can doing a Youtube HIIT class and I might try it at some point. I don’t really like stepping on the spot but at least I could do it while watching tv at night!

Hi all, would love to join this thread for 6 weeks.
I have been shedding about 1lb a week since last summer, transformed my body shape, gone down a couple of clothes sizes, gone well into the healthy BMI zone, and feel so much better, physically, emotionally and psychologically. (Lost over 14 Kg)

I am on the ‘Vanity pounds’ thread which has the same ethos, lots of people met their target weight.

I am now looking to take another 2 or 3 Kg off to address my flabby tummy.

Eating healthy meals, sensible / moderate portions, stopping unhealthy snacking (as a routine: there have been some spectacular outbreaks in the way Grin ).

1lb a week (500 g) has really worked for me, and helped me reset to an ordinary sustainable healthy diet.

Good luck everyone!

namechangefail2020 · 26/01/2021 13:08

Hey, I've lost 7lb of my baby weight and another 7 to be where I was pre babies. I was going to stop there but now seeing some of you going for the 9st Mark I've thought screw, it I'll carry on.

So here I am, 10st 1, 15lb to go.

How much are you all exercising, I never know how much I want to do. I know it's all about diet but if I exercise I can have that little bit extra food and also maybe find some definition (if only!!)

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 26/01/2021 13:47

namechangefail For me, exercise is important, but I think it varies.

I do lose weight when I exercise regularly. Being toned helps - muscle burns more fuel than fat, and exercise keeps your metabolism up. For me it is also important because the endorphins keep my mood better...and I feel better about myself, prouder of my loss of 1lb a week, and for keeping motivation up.

I am really missing the gym, and swimming, but do hour long properly brisk walks, and my toning exercises at home.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/01/2021 13:54

I exercise 4 or 5 times a week. HIIT sessions. Yes, weight loss is mainly a diet, but exercise helps me. Firstly, digestive system works better, my posture is better, my metabolism is alive. All this counts together as a help with motivation.

namechangefail2020 · 26/01/2021 13:59

Ok cool, thanks. I aim for 3 x a week, just 30 mins hiit or weights so nothing major but you're right, it feels great afterwards

ButterflyOfFreedom · 26/01/2021 19:25

Well done everyone on your weight loss, I'm feeling really inspired!
Only day 2 for me but so far, so good - have eaten well with zero treats and am logging things on MFP.
I'm not really taking exercise into account though obviously know how important that is. I walk maybe for 30 mins a day, 5 times a week but nothing too strenuous.
I know for me it's keeping off the junk food that makes the difference so that's my plan. Not easy though!!

1lbperweek · 26/01/2021 21:34

Forgive me losers for I have sinned.

Extremely naughty midweek takeaway for us tonight. However, I shall plough on. Will weigh in the morning as usual.

Interesting to read about people’s exercise habits. I definitely do not move enough especially now I’m working and schooling at home.

I too have sinned tonight. DS2 (7) has been having a really hard time the last few days and he wanted to have his favourite tea to cheer him up. So we've had sausage, mash, peas, Yorkshire puds, and an apple and blackberry crumble with custard. I only had one Yorkshire, and no gravy, so I did try, but my willpower did not extend to the crumble!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/01/2021 22:38

Forgive me losers for I have sinned.
😂😂😂

As much as I love this.... And I bloody do😂
Don't feel bad about eating something! Just account for it elsewhere. 😁

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/01/2021 22:42

If it makes you feel any better I had a takeaway and currently on second bottle of red (celebrating lol)😂
I do similar every week anyway. Account for it😁

CaptainCallisto · 26/01/2021 22:43

I had a very light lunch (bowl of mushroom soup) to account for the calorie heavy dinner. I've just checked on mfp and, remarkably, I've come in 82 calories under my goal. I really thought I'd be miles over!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/01/2021 22:54

It can be very surprising sometimes what can you fit. I do about 850 cal day before day off to lighten up and same after. I still lose 1kg+ a week. If I gi too wild I do extra workouts. However, I think I am bigger than most of you, so maybe when I get to lesser weight it will catch up with me🙈 Currently just over 17 stone😐 lost close to 7 already...
RainingBatsAndFrogs · 27/01/2021 02:58

Wow SchrodingersImmigrant that’s amazing, well done!
You are so ‘on your route’.

wineymummy · 27/01/2021 07:45

Wow Schroedinger that's incredible. Good on you. You've definitely got a good sustainable mindset.
Love all the sinning confessions. We've got to do what is necessary to get us through. A little blip doesn't matter long term. I'm tracking using MiFit and I can see the downward trend of my weight graph even with the blips. I cracked mid afternoon yesterday when the kids were driving me insane and ate cake and chocolate. Then had 2 glasses of wine in the evening. By some miracle my scales say I've lost 0.6kg overnight?! They're definitely dodgy scales and I'm pre menstrual so my weight must be fluctuating madly. But anyway, taking it as a win as weighing in at 79.8kg! My lightest since pre DD2.

CaptainCallisto · 27/01/2021 08:26

Well done winey - hitting the milestone weights is the best feeling!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/01/2021 09:33

Thank you @RainingBatsAndFrogs and @wineymummy😁

And well done too!

MonicaBingaling · 28/01/2021 07:12

Morning all,

Weighed myself this morning and I’ve lost 1.5lbs since Tuesday which isn’t bad

Just need to keep it up now. There’s so many temptations around the house so it’s hard

wineymummy · 28/01/2021 15:32

Well done @Monicabingaling...now keep it up. I've had a headache for about 24 hours now, one of those ones behind the eyes where you need to drink a can of full fat coke and eat a bar of chocolate to make it go away...(would also help if DH didn't finish all the painkillers and neglect to buy any more or let me know in advance...)

MonicaBingaling · 28/01/2021 16:35

Thank you @wineymummy

I hope your head feels better soon, headaches are the worst x

1lbperweek · 28/01/2021 16:37

Some amazing losses in here!!

Yesterday I was back to 11.13 but today back down to 11.12 thankfully! Not sure I’m hopeful for my lb this week but we will see.
