Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

@Humphriescushion - that happened to me at the start. Nothing for two or three weeks, then suddenly it dropped. Went up and down for a while so the first month of so felt like nothing was happening and then suddenly I started seeing a regular loss. It really did feel like my body didn't want to play at first. But then it kept going so I was losing weight even on weeks I had been eating way too much.

1lbperweek · 22/01/2021 08:28

Oh Humph! How frustrating for you. Not sure what to suggest other than possibly using a TDEE calculator to make sure you’re not way off with your calories but it just seems odd you’ve not even seen a small loss! It’s hard to stick with it when that happens but I hope you do.

Thank Goodness it’s Friday!!! I should have been up ages ago but I’m still in bed then off for my daily Strip n Weigh Grin

Have a great day everyone.

Thank you all for encouraging words. Will keep going but do a few weeks on the 5:2 to see how i get on. Will look at the 6:1 thanks @ schroding - may suit me better. Thanks @ 1lb will check the calculator and change tack a bit, think i got a bit too complacent with slimming world and need a reset! I will keep posting and reading since that helps a lot. Thank you all!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 23/01/2021 12:54

Hi can I join in with you all!
I’m currently 11.2, did go up to 11.7 after Xmas ( biggest I’ve ever been). Have lost 5lb in a couple of weeks but aiming for a just a little loss each week from now.
Have been using mfp to track calories but not been starving myself. Really trying to learn to not be a greedy fucker 🙈 I would eat half a cheesecake/trifle in a day - then the next half a day after!

I hate cooking but really trying to make simple meals that are healthy. We was getting takeaway 2/3/4 times a week (so embarrassing to admit that!) and have now cut down to one only, which will be better for our health and also our wallet.

Humphriescushion · 23/01/2021 17:08

Hello @ ginger, well done on losing 5lb. I have just downloaded mfp, getting to grips with it slowly, scary how the calories add up though.

SquirtleSquad · 23/01/2021 17:12

Does anyone else find the weekends SO much harder? I don’t even know why.. the weekend is just like any other day at the moment!!

CaptainCallisto · 23/01/2021 18:14

I do, Squirrel but it's because DH is at home!

CaptainCallisto · 23/01/2021 18:16

Oh my goodness. My bloody phone autocorrected Squirtle to squirrel

SquirtleSquad · 23/01/2021 18:20

Haha that's okay, I'm squirrelling all of my calories away for next winter so it could work Grin

SquirtleSquad · 23/01/2021 18:21

That might be what it is though, DH is half working from home and half from the office but either way he's hidden away during the week and about at the weekend.. usually scoffing snacks Hmm

1lbperweek · 23/01/2021 19:34

Hello all!

@GingerFoxInAT0phat are you me?!?! I am another one who can just eat and eat. I’m a bottomless pit! I’ve fond memories of multiple chunks of Yule log for a weekday breakfast before Christmas Grin

I have been having a packet of crisps every day and managing to stick to one which is impressive for me. Just demolished 90% of a large dominos pizza. Sooooo good!!!

wineymummy · 24/01/2021 08:28

Oh god the DH being at home is the worst. Pre-covid I worked from home anyway (self employed) and lunch was a quick bite at my desk. Since DH started WFH we're sitting down at the table for a proper lunch every day, and I find myself with twice as much lunch as usual. I've mainly been doing our shops recently so I just 'forget' to buy chocolate when I can but then he moans that it's not fair on him (though I have reminded him he has legs of his own to walk to the shop...)
Another birthday here this weekend so yesterday involved lots of cake bowl licking and another takeaway dinner for tea, and a .3kg increase in the scales overnight, but not concerned as it should still be a downward trend for the week.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 24/01/2021 12:04

@1lbperweek when I was reading through the thread I was thinking you could be me ha!

My dh is a feeder and he’s also terrible for ordering a pizza at 10pm ‘to help him sleep’ Confused

Stepped on the scales this morning and was 11.1 so one more lb off. Will be making a veg and lentil soup for dinner then a roast dinner later but will try and up the veg and only one Yorkshire (sob!)

SquirtleSquad · 25/01/2021 07:20

It's my weekly weight in day today

04/01/2021 - 15st 8lbs (start weight)
11/01/2021 - 15st 1.5lbs (-6.5lbs)
18/01/2021 - 14st 13lbs (-2.5lbs)
25/01/2021 - 14st 10.5lbs (-2.5lbs)

Total loss 11.5lbs

It's getting harder Sad

CaptainCallisto · 25/01/2021 08:02

Just weighed myself. If I go from last week's bizarre blip on the scales, I've lost 10lbs this week. I'm ignoring it and going with 5lbs over two weeks which is much more likely! Either way, I'm under 16st for the first time in years so I'm happy!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 25/01/2021 08:33

Hi! Can I join please?
Been lurking for a while and have been watching my weight on & off for months now. I seem to fluctuate between 9 stone 5 lbs - 10 stone; usually around the 9 stone 7 mark but ideally I'd like to be 9 stone.
So this is it! From today I'm aiming to lose that 1lb a week!

During lockdown I've definitely had more takeaway and treats than normal so that needs to stop (or be reduced at least).
I won't be following a specific diet as such, will just be more mindful of what I eat and will start logging things on MFP (which I've used before and which I helpful).

So, the first weigh in this morning:

9 stone 5 lbs

Wish me luck!

Caramel81 · 25/01/2021 08:38

Can I join please.
I’m 12.8 stone and would like to be around 11 stone for July/August as that would put me at a healthy BMI for my height.
I’m going to try and cut out the chocolate as I’m addicted to the stuff.

wincarwoo · 25/01/2021 08:39

The StickK app is great for making commitments abs keeping track

1lbperweek · 25/01/2021 13:48

Hello newbies! Welcome Grin

Everyone is doing so well. @CaptainCallisto bet you’re chuffed to pieces with that loss!

Weigh day for me tomorrow. If I stay the same as I am today I’ll have another lb and it’ll be 3 in 3 weeks so I’m pleased with that.

Have had quite a stressful morning with lots of tears but will not succumb to the urge for cake!

Hey everyone can I join?

I managed to lost a lot of Weight last year but since October have slowly gained over half a stone 😭

I would like to lose atleast 1lb a week as it’s realistic and achievable. I will post my stats tomorrow once I know my current weight

(Too scared to weigh at the mo but last I checked I was around 9st 7.

In September I was 8st 10

I hope to join and hope I can be welcome x

1lbperweek · 25/01/2021 13:59

Hi @MonicaBingaling! Your post caught my eye because I have also gained half a stone in recent times. Since about August/September I think. It’s amazing the difference half a stone can make isn’t it?

I’m currently 10.12 and main goal is 9 to see where I am. Frustratingly I didn’t ever weigh myself the short while I was at a ‘good weight’ a couple of years ago so my 9 stone is quite an arbitrary figure but I’ll see how I get on.

SquirtleSquad · 25/01/2021 14:09

Sorry @1lbperweek are you okay? Thanks

MonicaBingaling · 25/01/2021 14:26
