Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

Well done everyone whether you lost or gained this week. You’re still here and that’s the main thing.

Two down for me thank goodness! Was beginning to think I couldn’t physically lose weight any more!

@namechangefail2020 i agree that it's bjust important to measure same place. Find a mark like freckle or scar and use that. I now do that. It took me a while to remember which ones were they hence my marker marks😂 I have LOTS of frecles and moles etc🙈

namechangefail2020 · 02/03/2021 09:02

@CaptainCallisto @SchrodingersImmigrant thank you. Good idea, I've just found the perfect cigarette burn scar 😂😂

wineymummy · 02/03/2021 16:52

Well done everyone!
I wish I'd done measurements at the beginning. Haven't done them at all but my clothes are noticeably looser. Scales still stuck tho. Hovering around 78kg. Hoping to be a bit lighter by Friday for official weigh day. I did so much exercise this weekend (big hole ride and 2 days of gardening), AND I had a dodgy tummy yesterday so didn't eat a lot... Come on scales. I'm eating barely any breakfast and lunch these days but can't seem to get past my plateau.

wineymummy · 02/03/2021 16:53

BIKE RIDE! 😱

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/03/2021 18:27

😂😂😂 @wineymummy

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 02/03/2021 18:37

I was 200g down this week, but haven't been trying very hard.

Any amount is an amount - and I am probably at an OK weight now - might just drop another couple of Kgs and keep toning up.

CaptainCallisto · 02/03/2021 22:51

@wineymummy 🤣🤣🤣

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/03/2021 22:55

Any amount is an amount

If it helps, I calculated that I gut to 150 kg by putting that every week for x year. Just that. It amounted to that...
So yes. Any amount is an amount! Keep on it. Gram to gram and you are a slimionaire!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 03/03/2021 10:07

Love ‘slimiionnare’ .

Yes, my weight gain was a slow and steady creep. So gradual that I didn’t really notice, until a particular set of photos.

SquirtleSquad · 03/03/2021 10:31

I'm really really struggling this week and my horrible husband has bought a big bag of chocolate buttons for the kids that are calling my name.. I absolutely cannot put on even a single lb before my pre op appointment next Monday.

CaptainCallisto · 03/03/2021 11:41

Be strong Squirtle - can you have a few buttons just to remove temptation, or will you end up eating them all?

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 03/03/2021 11:57

Squirtle - throw them away! Or tell your horrible husband to lock them up in a place you don't know about.

Or make the kids eat the whole bag at lunch time. Or now.

BaconAndAvocado · 03/03/2021 15:45

Not having a great day here.....think I’m coming on so the sugar craving is kicking in.

Will try and over compensate tomorrow and Friday for Saturday weigh-in —have put it back one day due to gluttony— but it ain’t looking good....

NoJetter · 03/03/2021 16:25

Argh no @SquirtleSquad can you tell him to keep them somewhere else? My husband has also just bought some wagon wheels and they are in the cupboard staring at me. I’ve managed to resist so far even though it’s my time of the month and I’m massively craving something sweet so I’ll count that as a win (so far!)

I’m doing well with the weight loss. It seems to be coming off consistently and I’m sticking to my calorie limit fine. I’m now 78.5kg. I’m still weighing myself daily which I quite like as the fluctuations don’t bother me if I can see them every day.

SquirtleSquad · 03/03/2021 17:21

Thanks for the support! I ended up letting the kids demolish the whole big bag as a second breakfast to remove the temptation. There's no way I could have had one or two and not scoffed the entire pack!

I'll be having a word with the Easter bunny to bring less chocolate and more fruit this year Grin

1990shopefulftm · 03/03/2021 17:29

@SquirtleSquad my husband keeps any of the bad snacks in his choice so i don't go near him, it must be difficult when the temptation is right in front of you .

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 03/03/2021 17:43

Well handled Squirtle!
You've got this.

NoJetter · 03/03/2021 17:55

Good job mini squirtles!

shitsandgig · 03/03/2021 19:54

Can I join?

I've never tried to loose weight before and completely clueless. Some great ideas in the thread already.

I've always been a natural size 8 and regularly ate like an animal. I hit 30 and it's all fine wrong! Nothing fits, I live in tracksuits and generally feel like a hippo.

BaconAndAvocado · 04/03/2021 08:08

Welcome shitsandgigs

I’ve found that that if I eat 3 healthy meals and cut out (most) snacks then the weight does come off. It’s a mindset that is harder to adopt at certain times than others!

Good luck 🙂

Humphriescushion · 05/03/2021 06:10

Morning all, how you all doing? I had a small increase last week which was disappointing but reminded me not to get complacent. Went back to basics this week and have lost just over a kilo which is the most i have lost in week since i started. Glad i kept going and did not give up and thread and the fasting one has helped me, so thanks.

BaconAndAvocado · 06/03/2021 10:35

I've had an increase of 2lb this week!! Feel really fed up but will just have to try harder next week.
Losing weight seems a lot harder since the last time I tried.

I'm 51 and think I'm starting to go through the menopause (haven't had a period in 3 months). I wonder whether this would have implications on weight loss?

Humphriescushion · 06/03/2021 12:34

Oh what a pain @ bacon! I found it hard as well and did slimming world for four weeks with no luck at all, no idea why it would normally work well for me. I changed to something else and that seems to have kick started the weight loss, maybe my body was fed up of slimming world Grin. I am older than you have found it a bit harder since the menopause .

BaconAndAvocado · 06/03/2021 17:15

Apparently google through the menopause can impact on trying to lose weight and make it harder.

Great 🙄
