Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

Well done @Fembot123 that's a great start!

CaptainCallisto · 10/02/2021 11:03

Well done fembot

Fembot123 · 10/02/2021 12:43

Thanks guys Grin

Humphriescushion · 12/02/2021 06:38

Morning all, hope all going well?
0.7 of a kilo off for me, so going well. Over a pound in old money Grin.
So more than 3 kilos since i started, so am delighted after a very slow start.
Feel better for it and shape improved, i may brave the tape measure later since i just found some measurements i recorded at the start.
Good luck everyone and thank you to all on this thread for the help and motivation.

wineymummy · 12/02/2021 07:58

Well done humphries. Same loss here since last Friday (I weight every day but keep an eye on my weekly loss too.) Bit of a wobble week for me, I just got so sick of dieting, and we didn't have much food in, so ended up having milkshake, toast, chocolate and wine in the last few days. And I suspect it's pizza night tonight....but then, back on it tomorrow.

BaconAndAvocado · 12/02/2021 08:27

Can I join please?

I'm currently at my heaviest weight, 10st 4lb and works like to lose about 10lb.

I tried the 5:2 a few weeks ago but it ended up making me feel ill. Maybe it was the sugar withdrawal symptoms?!

I'm 51 and losing weight seems so much harder as I've got older. And where I used to find the motivation and self-discipline in the past, it's nowhere to be found now.

I'm rapidly heading towards a size 14, and I'm usually a 10/12 so really need to act fast.

BaconAndAvocado · 12/02/2021 08:27

*would

MonicaBingaling · 12/02/2021 08:41

@wineymummy I completely understand this, I’ve been good all week made progress but then become sick of dieting and last night ate lots of chocolates

I wish I could find the balance but I’m either all or nothinhb

wineymummy · 12/02/2021 09:23

Welcome Bacon, all welcome here! No pressure to lose any significant amount, we just keep each other going when we feel like we're getting nowhere.... reminding each other about the long game.
It's tough isn't it Monica. My DH is getting sick of my diet too. He cooks a lot and he wants me to enjoy his food without having to worry about substituting ingredients. He literally brought a bottle of wine and box of chocolates to the table last night and I had no will power. Luckily our big shop came last night so we've got lots of veg back in the fridge.

1lbperweek · 12/02/2021 10:27

Some fantastic losses this week, well done everyone.

1lb on for me which tbh after the couple of weeks I’ve had I was expecting. Fallen into bad habits of asking my DH to bring me chocolate home at night so will need to sort that next week. However last month after my period I gained then lost so maybe the same thing will happen this month, who knows!

Have barely moved this week. Been so busy with work and homeschool so that definitely won’t have helped.

Thanks winey

"Getting nowhere" is exactly how I feel. I actually lost weight during the first lockdown and was out running a few times a week.
This lockdown is very different.
Finding it harder to get motivated.
When there's very little to look forward to, a couple of choccie digestives are very difficult to resist!

Will start in earnest on Monday. Got a Valentines meal deal which contains a good few calories.
I don't like the word "diet" as I don't believe they work. So I'm going to aim to really cut down on the crap but have one small treat a day......from Monday!
I will weigh in on Saturday and then relax a bit over the weekend.
Once the ice has all disappeared I'll get out my running shoes and attempt Couch to 5K again.

Already feeling more positive 😊

SquirtleSquad · 12/02/2021 13:00

I'm 1lb down since Monday but planning a bit of a piggy Valentine's weekend so my money is on my weekly weigh in on Monday being not so great!

Jellifer · 14/02/2021 10:22

Morning all. Another 1lb off for me this week but seeing as it’s Valentine’s Day I’ll probably be eating my feelings later! Good luck for the week ahead.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 14/02/2021 10:24

Good job!

SquirtleSquad · 14/02/2021 11:05

Yep, this weekend has ruined me. I've eaten a brownie, 2 cookies, a cupcake and a Chinese takeaway Blush

1lbperweek · 14/02/2021 22:25

Another naughty one here!

Will weigh tomorrow and face the music. Saw a thread about giving up sugar for lent. I’m considering it but not fully in yet!

BaconAndAvocado · 15/02/2021 09:59

Here we go......weighed in at 10st 5lb this morning and had a very indulgent Valentines Day.

For breakfast I’ve had low-fat yoghurt with a handful of blueberries and raspberries, seeds and honey.

My plan is to avoid any snacking in the week and do at least 3 runs or hiit workouts.

I like the idea of giving something up for Lent. I’m going to (try to) give up being greedy and overeating.

Have a good week everyone!

Humphriescushion · 15/02/2021 10:06

Another one who had a bit of an indulgent weekend but not going to let it continue and back on this morning. I am on the 5:2 so today is a fast day and definitely needed after the weekend. Not expecting much of a loss when i weigh on friday, will be happy to stay the same. Good luck everyone, have a good week

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 15/02/2021 10:09

I am 300g down, overall. That's OK, more than a pack of butter lost.

SquirtleSquad · 15/02/2021 10:56

Weekly weigh in

04/01/2021 - 15st 8lbs
11/01/2021 - 15st 1.5lbs (-6.5lbs)
18/01/2021 - 14st 13lbs (-2.5lbs)
25/01/2021 - 14st 10.5lbs (-2.5lbs)
01/02/2021 - 14st 9lbs (-1.5lbs)
08/02/2021 - 14st 5lbs (-4lbs)
15/02/2021 - 14st 5.5lbs (+0.5lbs)

Total loss 16.5lbs

Annoying because I know I got down to 14st 4 before the weekend.. lesson learnt - the Chinese and cakes and chocolate feast wasn't worth it Grin

SquirtleSquad · 15/02/2021 10:57

My pre op appointment is 3 weeks today and I could really do with being 14stone for that.. so 5.5lbs to drop in 3 weeks now Sad

BaconAndAvocado · 15/02/2021 10:59

SquirtleSquad that’s great progress, keep going!
You can lose 0.5lb so easily.

1lbperweek · 15/02/2021 11:01

@SquirtleSquad you’re putting us all to shame!!

10.12 for me so think I’ve stayed the same since last update. Going to really try this week but still have a couple of cakes leftover from yesterday and chocolates my husband bought me!

I'm not, I just have more to lose!! It's easier when you have this many wobbley bits!!Grin normally when I get to the 13stone mark it really really slows down. Plus I'm a little miserable and missing my usual treats so there's a balance between happy and healthy..
If I wasn't counting down to a big operation I wouldn't be anywhere near this motivated or strict and after it I will slow down.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 15/02/2021 13:26

You are doing SO well, Squirtle and you can and will lose the 5.5lbs in 3 weeks as you have surpassed that in every 3 week period since Christmas. Fuel yourself with your success, don't beat yourself up over the glitches.

But - you are worth getting to your surgery weight.

Then, you can settle down to a slow but steady routine that is easier to live with.
