Thought I would keep with the dancing theme. Happy New Year to everyone. Lets all hope for a much safer 2021.

Even though I wasn't planning to weigh in this morning, I did out of habit and weighed in at 9st5. Take away (very delayed) last night, so not surprised. My aim is to be 9st1ish by the end of January. I'm hoping to get a couple of pounds off for my Birthday on the 9th.

I'm resisting the night time chocolate wanting. I've got to have more steroids and they usually make me extra hungry. Not always though so hopefully not. I'll do better next week I'm sure but this week is a write off really.

sparklyglitterball · 08/01/2021 07:50

Morning all, I've been so preoccupied with the covid situation and sorting school places (key worker) as well as very busy at work........I've basically gained 5lb over Christmas and not lost any of it yet 😳 I've been skipping breakfast and eating two healthy meals, no alcohol, but I'm guessing too much chocolate and mindless nibbling when preparing food for the kids etc. As someone said upthread, need to keep plugging away as it's a long term goal. And I really need to take the drink more water advice! Hope you're all doing ok in this very strange and stressful time.

drspouse · 08/01/2021 08:15

Another sugar free day for me (I try to have 3 per week) and hoping for a bike ride if it's not snowing! Weigh in tomorrow.

Octopus37 · 08/01/2021 08:22

Well done Drspouse. 9st3.75 for me this morning, v unmotivated at the moment, due to the time of year/situation. Like others have said though its the long term goal. Good luck with the steriods flattered.

Yes to long term and no this definitely isn't the best time of year for weight loss but it does feel more manageable now for me than November and December.

A pound of the upswing is gone this morning.

I'm on day 3 of no alcohol. Relieved that it's been easy despite drinking very regularly over the last couple of months.

I'm less stressed in this lockdown as ds is spending the day in school on the days I work in there whereas last time he was isolating for 2 weeks then his year group was out for a further week but I was in school working all the way through.

I've volunteered for extra kw and vulnerable supervision to kind of assuage my guilt at using a part time kw place plus it keeps me away from the kitchen cupboards and it's good to get some time with the kids.

I'm late but January goals are to have a break from drinking, to at least stop gaining bloody weight and hopefully lose some. The two are connected because I was failing at fasts due to alcohol rather than food over the Christmas holidays.

Coffee, water and herbal teas only for me today then I've promised ds seafood spaghetti for dinner.

IDontMindMarmite · 08/01/2021 08:58

That's good Badger.
Another lb of my Christmas bloat has gone. That's 4lbs since New Years! Love water weight. I drank 3 litres yesterday, was feeling uncharacteristically thirsty.
Happy Friday all.

drspouse · 08/01/2021 09:25

Too much snow, it will be a walk today!

Octopus37 · 08/01/2021 16:38

Well done on the weight loss I dont mind Marmite. HoneyBadger, sounds as if you are doing great, glad your DS is able to go to school for the hours when you are in.

Wow well done Idontmindmarmite and Honeybadger!
Checking in with accountability log, not good today and forgot to weigh this morning and it was so cold when I remembered I wasn't getting undressed!!
B: omelette with veg and cheese, cappuccino
L: leftover egg fried rice, granola and Greek yoghurt
D: sausages and mash, slice of homemade cake
2L water, check, early bed last night, check.

Monochrome4 · 09/01/2021 07:44

Morning all. I'm just showing up here for accountability. Hard to keep the weight off in lockdown!

I'm only managing about 4k steps in lockdown at the moment. We didn't leave the house at all yesterday so will try to do that at least, although with the little ones I barely manage any steps while out anyway. I've taken to running up and down the stairs inside while the kids are watching TV to get my steps up. I tried running up and down the garden and pissed myself. Bloody pelvic floor.

I wasn't going to log my food this lockdown but I snacked too much so I've started logging again.

drspouse · 09/01/2021 08:34

2 1/2 lb off, body in shock I think! Changing lunches has helped and I'm still snacking (yes you can snack and lose weight, see thread about cheese and crackers!) but planning those too.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 09/01/2021 09:13

Hi monochrome good to see you. Well done drspouse you're in the zone!

Octopus37 · 09/01/2021 09:43

Hi Monochrome, good to see you. Drspouse I agree with you about the snacking and loosing weight. I haven't done very well this week, not enough steps cause its so cold. I also ate some peanuts, bombay mix and had two cans of cider last night, so I weighed in at 9.4.75 this morning. Its my Birthday today (I'm 46 eek) though so I'm going to have what I fancy and really try and get back on the wagon tomorrow/next week.

I'm 1.75lbs up today to 9st 0.75.. Not great but I'll get it down by next weigh in I hope. Aim: 10k steps, 3 L water, 10.30 lights out.

IDontMindMarmite · 09/01/2021 14:29

Hope you have a nice day Octopus and everyone. I'm getting my covid jab today which is strange and exciting. I've saved calories for a fish and chip dinner later too.

TheHoneyBadger · 09/01/2021 15:07

Happy birthday octopus 🐙🥳

Bored which is making me fancy a drink but I will resist. Fasted so far today but I'm hungry and ds is pestering.

Trouble with giving up alcohol I find is that your body misses the sugar and has you craving sweet things.

I may actually bake rather than going to the shop and buying a ton of crap potentially.

Excuse incoherent waffle. Four days alcohol free has not made me any sharper

sparklyglitterball · 09/01/2021 16:12

Hey all. Happy birthday @Octopus37 I hope you're being spoiled and having some treats. Well done @drspouse you're on a roll. Hope everyone else is doing ok. I lost none of my Christmas weight last week 😩 weigh in day is on a Friday, but did a sneaky one today and 1lb has finally gone. I've been for a 6km run today and will go tomorrow. Have factored in some calories for a glass of wine and a couple of choccies today. Fingers crossed I'm heading in the right direction now.

sparklyglitterball · 09/01/2021 16:13

@IDontMindMarmite I had my covid vaccine just after Christmas. It's a really reassuring feeling and I'm so grateful. Hop you have no side effects......was fine here apart from an achy arm.

Monochrome4 · 09/01/2021 16:54

Drspouse Yes one can snack and lose weight, but my problem is snacking the whole effing time! I need to reduce both the number and the richness of my snacks. Especially while in lockdown with not much scope for exercise.

My plan to get surreptitious exercise while watching the kids in the playground didn't work. We went to an adventure playground we hadn't been to before. My 7yo went up a climbing wall and got scared and wouldn't come down. I spent half an hour standing half way up it coaxing him down, before going home. Very cute, but not much exercise.

I did manage to run up and down the garden a few times without pissing myself, though, so that's a positive.

TheHoneyBadger · 09/01/2021 17:05

Pelvic floor issues mono?

I just broke my fast with bacon and onion tortilla which was ok and an alcohol free beer.

I've not craved alcohol at all but am seriously craving sugar! I'm going to go soak a portion of oats and seeds in case I get late night munchies and am in danger of eating rubbish.

20+ hr fast again. Yesterday's was ruined by late sugar cravings and scoffing kitkats. On the plus side there are no kitkats left to tempt me tonight

IDontMindMarmite · 09/01/2021 17:34

No side effects or even a sore arm! I usually get a sore arm from flu jabs so that's even better.

Monochrome4 · 09/01/2021 19:34

Well done Marmite! So exciting hearing about so many people getting their jabs. My husband has had his as he's an NHS worker. My 84-year-old dad has got his letter and tried to book online but there were only appointments miles away so he'll keep trying until he gets a closer one.

HoneyBadger yes, I have a very weak pelvic floor. I've been to the GP and she's referred me for physio but the queue is about a year long. I've been doing Pilates every week (except now in lockdown) and I have weights which I should use every day but am pretty lazy about it. Of course I ought to do Kegels several times a day too...

TheHoneyBadger · 09/01/2021 19:47

There are gizmos that you can buy for less £100 Mono. I would recommend. I was having real problems at one stage. If it starts up again I start using my gadget regularly again. It strengthens the muscles using an electromagnetic pulse I think.

My mum had her first injection today, weirdly my dad who is actually very vulnerable hasn't been contacted and my perfectly healthy mother who is the same age has. Not sure how that works.

I made pain au chocolate and hot chocolate which made ds very happy and we drank it together watching the football. Managed to restrict myself to one pain au chocolate and the hot chocolate was made with skimmed milk. Not great but could have been a lot worse and hit the sweet spot.

Reminding myself that I'm saving a lot of calories not drinking and hoping the scales will start to reflect my short eating windows and reduced intake sometime soon.
