Thought I would keep with the dancing theme. Happy New Year to everyone. Lets all hope for a much safer 2021.

Even though I wasn't planning to weigh in this morning, I did out of habit and weighed in at 9st5. Take away (very delayed) last night, so not surprised. My aim is to be 9st1ish by the end of January. I'm hoping to get a couple of pounds off for my Birthday on the 9th.

Lovely to see you HoneyBadger, you will get rid of that regain in no time I'm sure. Hope everyone is ok in light of this new lockdown, lets hope its the last one. 9st3.5 this morning, would like to get a bit more off for the weekend but we'll see.

Good to see you Honeybadger! I think we all know when we get ourselves back on it we'll be OK. This is a longterm aim so we just have to keep plugging away. I'm managing my basic goals of water intake and steps. Not dreadful outside that food wise. What is it though that suggests to my mind that I should go buy junk at 9pm when I'm not hungry in the slightest?! Thta kills me. Luckily I was too lazy to listen!
2.5L water
12k steps
Increased f&v

drspouse · 05/01/2021 11:19

I'm doing the Headspace course on Cravings in an attempt to work out what to do with those 9pm need-something-now feelings!

Monochrome4 · 05/01/2021 15:59

Afternoon everyone. I have survived the first day of home schooling. I am not counting calories, and have been reasonably healthy until I ate a Custard Cream. My aims during lockdown are 1. to stay sane and 2. not to put on weight. I am not counting calories, but I am weighing myself. Last lockdown I put on 3kg and it's what spurred me into starting the diet, so I am aiming not to have a repeat of that. I just need to take it one day at a time.

Octopus37 · 06/01/2021 08:20

9st3.75 today, didn't do that well with food or steps yesterday. It is so cold and miserable I couldn't face taking the dog out last night. Also our heating isn't working properly, sitting her nearly crying cause I'm so fed up. Think a lot of us are the same. Monochrome, sounds as if you are doing well.

Drspouse, meant to say welcome

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 06/01/2021 08:39

Ah octopus, it's really crap right now and scary too. Hope your heat gets sorted. I stayed up too late and have a splitting headache now. Kept my water and step goals but food isn't great. Same goals today but 10pm bed. Love to hear about the app drspouse, mine isn't even a craving, more a compulsion to eat junk, it's weird.

OverTheRainbow88 · 06/01/2021 08:57

I’ve started the fasting, so have a 6 hour eating window for 2 meals, it’s already a bit easier than 6 days ago!!

drspouse · 06/01/2021 09:40

I think compulsions and cravings come under the same heading!

I've had a pretty good week so far so hoping for a good weigh in on Sat, I'm trying to eat a good breakfast too as I do find that helps (I have an omelette routine going).

IDontMindMarmite · 06/01/2021 10:01

Good morning everyone. I've dropped another lb of Christmas bloat so I'm now 2lbs off my lowest. I honestly think getting back to drinking 2 litres of water a day is partially responsible.

It's snowing here today. Looks lovely.

IDontMindMarmite · 06/01/2021 10:02

So... DRINK MORE WATER Smile

FlatteredRhubardFool · 06/01/2021 10:12

Ugh, it's not going well this week Sad the last two nights I have eaten at bedtime and have had bad dreams and woken up with a bloated painful abdomen so there'll be no more of that from now on. I daren't weigh myself. I'll wait until Monday got weighing and stick to better habits from now on. I'm disappointed to be losing my 5 mile school hike and opportunity to start cycling again now that I'm back to hone schooling but I'll just have to be as active as I can. I've timetabled a daily walk for 3pm after school each day and on the weekends we will go on a long walk. I'll use the stairs as much as possible and have already got into the habit of going up or down myself rather than asking one of the dc even if I'm busy. Every little helps!
Have a good day everyone!

drspouse · 06/01/2021 12:32

I find that if I'm nearly at my step total for the day then a putting-things-away blitz before bed helps a lot. Tidied the hallway on Mon and the stairs last night. DH complains he can't hoover so I will make sure that's possible!

TheHoneyBadger · 06/01/2021 16:17

Freezing cold here!

First day of no alcohol for a while. Drinking definitely wasn't helping weight so needs to be tackled.

Haven't eaten yet and have walked to, around and home from work so some activity at least. Will take the dog for a walk later if I ever get warm.

Not sure what to eat and am huddled in bed fully dressed trying to get warm. School is so cold I feel like I come home with cold bones and can't warm up. I shall go inspect the cupboards and fridge for inspiration if I ever thaw out

IDontMindMarmite · 06/01/2021 16:29

Yeah i'm freezing too.

It's pressure cooker Chicken Tikka Masala and naan bread tonight. Always a really yummy dinner. As always i am more than ready to eat!

Octopus37 · 07/01/2021 09:55

9st4.25 this morning but weighed with clothes due to heating problem, normally wear PJs to weigh. Taking it in turns to wait in for heating engineer today, hoping that we can be sorted by the end of the day. Happy Thursday all

IDontMindMarmite · 07/01/2021 10:34

Happy Thursday.

I've started joining DH in doing some circuit exercises in the day. Not loads but it does help keep warm! And I started to feel like my muscles were really weedy so hopefully that will help counteract home office working sedentary-ness

TheHoneyBadger · 07/01/2021 10:42

I'm sure I asked this before Marmite but could you share the recipe for the slow cooker chicken massala please?

Hope the heating gets sorted Octopus!

Scales said 3lbs higher than when I got on them a couple of days ago Confused I got my period yesterday and haven't been to the toilet so I'm hoping to put it down to that and not be discouraged.

Managed my alcohol free day yesterday.

IDontMindMarmite · 07/01/2021 10:46

It's a pressure cooker recipe but i'm sure you'd do it the same way just over the course of the day rather than quickly. Here it is, I use the BBC GoodFood Naan bread recipe to have with it, it's a great value dinner.

IDontMindMarmite · 07/01/2021 10:48

3lbs, that's a bit painful! I'm sure it's period related water retention and hope it will disappear soon for you.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/01/2021 13:11

I remember the recipe now. I don't have sauté settings just a slow cooker with low and high neither of which are high enough to sauté things. Guess I could do the browning etc in a pan then put in slow cooker.

Yes 3lbs is rubbish!

Fingers crossed it crazy fluctuation up rather than I last weighed on a crazy downward fluctuation.

Doesn't make a difference really. Bloody fat either way and need to lose tons

drspouse · 07/01/2021 13:15

I always saute in a pan if needed before slow cooking.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/01/2021 13:24

It's an 'instant pot' (not sure what one of those is) recipe and seems to be very quick - I'm confused. Do you have an instant pot Marmite - or do you not follow the instructions just the recipe?

IDontMindMarmite · 07/01/2021 13:37

It's a brand name for an electric pressure cooker which cooks things super quickly. I do have a pressure cooker but to adapt it, I'd just sauté in a frying pan and let it slow cook for 6-8 hours as you usually would.

Octopus37 · 07/01/2021 19:13

Heating now sorted than goodness. HoneyBadger, dont be discouraged by three pounds, period and toilet are both things that make a big difference. Again haven't done that well today, ate lots of peanuts (so I suppose quite a bit of protein), but some chocolate cake and socially distanced champagne (friends daughter's 18th today), resulted in me feeling very pissed at 5pm and I then ate a few peanuts and a Tesco's pizza. Also slightly under 10,000 for steps but cannot face going out again cause its so cold. Nevermind, it was a special occasion.
