Thought I would keep with the dancing theme. Happy New Year to everyone. Lets all hope for a much safer 2021.

Even though I wasn't planning to weigh in this morning, I did out of habit and weighed in at 9st5. Take away (very delayed) last night, so not surprised. My aim is to be 9st1ish by the end of January. I'm hoping to get a couple of pounds off for my Birthday on the 9th.

I had a load spare so I'm tucking into fruit and nuts and gluhwein. Sorry not sorry.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 11/01/2021 23:39

Thank you, feeling better today but still very tired. The ol' covid test was sent off today but my risk of having caught it is tiny as could only have come from dd going to her dad's.
Today there has been a birthday in the house with a chocolate brownie cake, chocolate fudge icing, maltesers and white chocolate writing. Birthday child helped make it which was both lovely and bloody frustrating Grin I only had three bites but lots of maltesers and chocolate in general today. Once I'm feeling nearly normal I'll be back on the wagon properly with daily walks.

IDontMindMarmite · 12/01/2021 08:38

Fingers crossed it comes back negative for you Rhubarb.

My diary is looking busier today so i'm hoping to have less time for moping about and snacking. I've just made a week's worth of Ham and Pearl Barley soup which is one of my favourites. Dinner is Jambalaya which is an all time favourite.

Octopus37 · 12/01/2021 08:49

9st2.5 this morning, quite a good day for me yesterday. Cereal bar in the morning, omlette for lunch. Ate two mini heroes and then some breaded chicken pieces (trying to use up bits from the freezer), roast potatoes and roasted kale. Also ate 10 blueberries. Portion size for the potatoes probably too big but nevermind, steps so so due to restrictions. Unfortunately feeling a bit crap and under the weather today, cold symptoms. Woke up and was a bit hot and bothered in the night (sounds great, not like that), but think thats a time of life thing). Will lie low for a few hours and see how it goes.

Hello everyone, @IDontMindMarmite suggested I join this thread as
I'm also making some
Changes to lose weight.

IDontMindMarmite · 12/01/2021 12:22

Welcome Nancy. I was thinking, my husband had been losing weight for a while as have I and his pattern is that he loses weight once a month, in a whoosh. It's just the way his body seems to work! I saw this infographic which is totally him and wondered if it resonated with you. The can be loads of reasons why people stall and as I said on t'other thread, if you've only been on it a couple of weeks don't lose heart.

Mine isn’t going too well. My eat window is between 12-7.30pm where I have lunch and dinner. I need to move more I know that!

It’s demoralising but will keep going!!

nancybotwinbloom · 12/01/2021 12:32

@IDontMindMarmite oh I hope so!

I've just had for my breakfast/lunch

1 egg in a small pan with fry light so it looks like a wrap.

100g raw weight of mushrooms cooked in balsamic vinegar
75g raw weight spinach just on top
Of the mushrooms so wilted.

Octopus37 · 12/01/2021 17:31

Welcome Nancy. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Welcome Nancy!

IDontMindMarmite · 12/01/2021 19:03

I did a cycle after work today which makes me feel better about going over my calorie goal yesterday. I am ravenous for dinner and it won't be ready for at least 20 minutes. Pray for me Grin.

drspouse · 12/01/2021 20:37

I am being almost too successful with cutting down on lunch, DH made tea and I'd assumed it would be very high calorie but it wasn't so I've been forced to have a snack again!

IDontMindMarmite · 12/01/2021 20:52

What's your secret? Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 12/01/2021 21:08

Yay for egg progress Octopus.

In my early 20's I realised I was really jealous of the fact that everyone else around me had a cheap, legal energy booster in the form of coffee whilst I was constantly knackered and half awake in lectures.

I had always hated it and had to try and teach myself to like it in order to get the benefits. Where I lived at the time meant I got the train to uni or to visit friends etc so always had fancy coffee shops on hand. I started with mochaccinos with extra sickly flavoured syrups and cinnamon and chocolate on top and sugar and gradually eased off the extras.

Within a few months I was drinking instant black coffee.

Maybe your eggs are my coffee? Eggs are awesome little nutrient packed, high protein, filling, low cal and cheap food.

drspouse · 12/01/2021 21:34

@IDontMindMarmite

What's your secret? Smile
I'm not very ambitious in my weight loss goal (only 1/2lb per week) and my new lunch dishes (mainly from the One You meals app) have loads of veg in.
Octopus37 · 12/01/2021 21:54

That's funny about the coffee, HoneyBadger, luckily I dont need to make myself like coffee, cause I drink loads of black tea. Dont think I could ever eat a hard boiled egg or scrambled egg (partly cause I hate milk). Yes, I'm a fussy bugger. Well done on the cycle I dont mind marmite.

drspouse · 12/01/2021 22:12

My DS eats French toast but otherwise won't eat egg. That might be a good starter (and it's a good way to have bread with added protein).

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 12/01/2021 23:20

I was the same re coffee! BTW I didn't know there is such a thing as an actual Honeybadger! We watched a programme on it/you! Grin Octopus I don't use milk in scrambled egg!

FlatteredRhubardFool · 12/01/2021 23:21

Eggs 🤢 I just can't. Except if they are in something ready made but even then I struggle. I love omelet and jacket potato but the last time I tried an omelet I was sick and that was 14 years ago. Eggs just make me nauseous.

I've added lots of healthy items to my shopping this week and am going to make lunch times more exciting by getting a panini press/toastie maker. I've got halloumi, feta, beetroot, olives, baby leaf salad, cucumber along with some quorn chicken, and mozzarella. I'm not a fan of sandwiches as I am not very imaginative but I'm determined to try some new ones with ingredients I like and see if I can get the dc eating more variety. The shopping will arrive with a big flourish on Thursday, and Friday will be the start of the 3 meals a day, healthy snacks only and back to 16:8 ish. And not forgetting the magic water of course.
I'm scared to weigh myself but will have to at some point.

IDontMindMarmite · 13/01/2021 07:20

I'd not heard of the app before, it looks good thanks for mentioning it.

Octopus37 · 13/01/2021 08:47

Flattered I know what you mean about having foods that you just cannot eat, I have quite a few of those, but now I have found one way forward with eggs hoping that might help with healthy lunches. Did however eat some Christmas cake and a few maltesers yesterday so 9st3.5 this morning.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 13/01/2021 08:52

Yep that's what I'm named after. Ds and I chose the honey badger as our family sigil and our motto is, never surrender! Wink

I'm only tentatively getting on the scales dressed and each time I do it flickers between 14:9 and 14:10. I'm colossal. Improving my eating but not very active currently as on the computer all day every day for remote learning.

Trying to tell myself it's ok for now to have just stopped gaining but I have a good 4 stone to lose now and need to start chipping away at it.

Broken boiler so I will at least have a good walk to my bubble friends house and back for a shower later. Spent yesterday working on line wearing lots of layers and accommodating the engineer coming and going. Manufacturers are sending someone out on Friday.

Well done to all of you keeping on with losing.

IDontMindMarmite · 13/01/2021 13:29

You're not colossal Badger. You will start losing again, but there's no rush. Some might say that the middle of a pandemic is not the best time to be putting extra pressure on ourselves and it's hard enough as it is.

Having said that, i'm home working too and have found some structured exercise to have been really helpful. DH and I have got into the habit where we HAVE to get out the house for a walk every day. It's important for our mental health I think. And I do feel better for getting on the bike at least once a week.

I'm having a stressful day. My head is spinning and it's not because i'm busy, just difficult things to get my head around. So my mood isn't the best but i'm not diving head first into sugar which is a definite improvement on old habits.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/01/2021 13:54

Well done on not reaching for sugar Marmite. Hope it gets sorted.
