Thought I would keep with the dancing theme. Happy New Year to everyone. Lets all hope for a much safer 2021.

Even though I wasn't planning to weigh in this morning, I did out of habit and weighed in at 9st5. Take away (very delayed) last night, so not surprised. My aim is to be 9st1ish by the end of January. I'm hoping to get a couple of pounds off for my Birthday on the 9th.

I don't understand it but sounds great Grin

Octopus37 · 23/01/2021 19:28

Hope everyone is ok. Food not great here, but 3 pints of water so far, 9177 steps and a 15 minute dance exercise class on Youtube. Will weigh in tomorrow.

Wow that article is really interesting. Sounds like you are all doing pretty well considering. I have had a RUBBISH week - I’ve exercised every day but consumed far too much gin and chocolate (not at the same time) it’s just so hard to stay motivated when there isn’t a holiday /event etc to motivate me! I have just bought a gorgeous fitness planner from CGD London which I’m hoping may do the trick. The problem is that I really hate homeschooling - I’m terrible at maths 🙃...and I’m SO fed up with all the domestic drudgery. My husband is brilliant at helping out with cleanup etc but it still seems relentless 🙃 xx

TheHoneyBadger · 24/01/2021 07:36

I had a pitiful attempt at a very slow very short jog this morning but it's something. Far too terrified to get on the scales.

IDontMindMarmite · 24/01/2021 07:53

Yay for trying Badger, thats admirable not pitiful. I'm currently bullying my DH into doing a strength training yoga workout with me after breakfast. I've been feeling like a weakling lately and i used to do hot yoga a lot and loooved it. He's not at all coordinated and struggles with balance but is much stronger than me

TheHoneyBadger · 24/01/2021 08:00

Hope you get him on board.

I'm ashamed to admit this but I woke up this morning with chocolate welded to my pillow after falling asleep eating rolos Blush

I have woken up in bed with a kebab before in my uni days but this was done sober.

IDontMindMarmite · 24/01/2021 08:19

Grin it's been ages since i've had rolos, i'm more of a munchies girl

Octopus37 · 24/01/2021 08:43

Yum, rolos, I love it when the rolos eggs come out, haven't seen them yet this year. 9st4.75 this morning, exercise and water reasonable yesterday, food very carb heavy. Also sort of on a period, know that souds vague, but never know if its a proper one these days. We are forecast the white stuff later, not keen. Well done on your jog HoneyBadger.

Morning all, just checking in to say hi. If I write a message then I know where to read from to catch up! Not doing great food-wise but I'm trying not to snack too much and I'm using my mini-stepper each evening. Logged in at 61.2 this morning so not down to mid-December size but I'm just aiming not to put on weight this lockdown.

TheHoneyBadger · 24/01/2021 10:41

We have the white stuff here.

drspouse · 24/01/2021 10:42

We had some yesterday but just icy now!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/01/2021 10:47

Just a dusting thus far

We've had heavy snow (Midlands) and there were lots of families out earlier sledging and building snow men. We managed a 6.5 mile walk and 30 mins of yoga, more than cancelled out by a giant cookie and hot chocolate.

Octopus37 · 24/01/2021 20:31

Managed 10,000 steps today, mostly by dancing round the living room, although it did include a short walk to Tesco Express and back. Had 3 pints of water today going to aim for another one. Food as ever not great. Reallly hoping that the snow melts tomorrow.

Right, as usual my water intake went to pot over the weekend so i'm back on that today. After my gain then whoosh and then calorie cycling planned weekend, I feel a bit like I don't have a clue how to maintain. I hope it all balances out soon.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

drspouse · 25/01/2021 09:20

When I lost 3 1/2 stone and then maintained for a while I set my MFP goal to "maintain" and it gave me a lot of help to see what normal eating should be.

IDontMindMarmite · 25/01/2021 10:55

Yeah, i've decided to use the MFP weekly calorie target, to eat slightly under during the week and accumulate extra for the weekend. Fingers crossed that works. I really do tend to say fuck it on the weekend which is concerning but yesterday, I couldn't actually eat everything I had planned because I was too full. I wasn't under target but about on it.

drspouse · 25/01/2021 12:32

I used to have a completely free for all day on Saturday and sometimes didn't bother logging but the other weekend I did log and found I wanted to (rather than really needed to) eat SO MUCH more than my limit so now I'm logging and having a tiny bit more (e.g. it will be the day I make the family pudding, but I won't then have chocolate while DH and I watch TV!)

I actually don't think it's a good idea for many people to save calories because under-eating is a good way to let yourself binge on other days - some days I do naturally eat less because I'm not hungry/have something really filling but low calorie, but if I deliberately restrict myself below what my body feels it needs I set myself up for bingeing I'm afraid.

IDontMindMarmite · 25/01/2021 13:48

Yeah it's hard to know what to do for the best. I get what you're saying, I think my idea was to be able to have a take away/restaurant meal and not have to worry too much about going over. I don't struggle with my weekday calorie goal. I have my 3 meals a day plus treats in moderation. I'm going to try to be flexible and see what works best for me.

TheHoneyBadger · 26/01/2021 05:57

Yesterday I made chicken carbonara with spaghetti and didn't go mad on portion size. Then I had a small plate of crackers, hallumi and gherkins for supper. So not too bad a day.

Haven't had another attempt at a jog because snow and ice is dangerous terrain imo. I don't even dare walk fast.

Slightly crushed that the flights I booked for summer the other day have already been cancelled. It was so nice to have something to look forward to briefly. Now have to chase for a refund.

Octopus37 · 26/01/2021 08:14

Sounds like you had a good day Honey Badger. Its a shame about your flights. Doing okish here, had a reasonable day yesterday, food is never great but it wasn't a complete binge, steps crap cause of the weather, but water good. I was quite productive in other ways though. So glad its nearly February, hopefully things might start to feel a bit brighter then. 9st4.5 this morning, just trying to stay on a vaguely even keel at the moment.

Just an accountability checkin for me.. I have a constant headache, finding it hard to get a good night's sleep and I'm just generally a bit overwhelmed with. A lot gojng on. Managed 17k steps yesterday and I'm prioritising water. Unfortunately up to 9st3, that's 4lbs up since New Year's.. Need to care more or I'll regret it! Looking forward to the spring wardrobe in a few month's time.

Octopus37 · 26/01/2021 12:12

Sorry to hear you're feeling rough Heygirl, its so crap at the moment. Big well done on your steps. Take care

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 26/01/2021 13:40

Touch wood it's ok as they let me change dates free of charge and it looks like they're just cutting the number of flights a week and the day I was travelling on was the one they've axed from their schedule 🙏

I think the fact that so many of us are struggling is a good sign that times are tough and the odds are against us currently rather than any one of us needing to feel like a failure itms?

The 4lbs would maybe be 10lbs if you weren't holding it together some. And you're doing better than me because I'm too scared to even get on the scales lol

My step machine came today. The resistance is high! Definitely a good workout for legs and glutes!

IDontMindMarmite · 26/01/2021 14:19

Hey everyone, reading the room and it seems that we're all feeling the pressure at the moment.

We've had rain here for a few hours so the snow is rapidly melting away.

Work is busy and a bit of a headache. I could do with a break. Thankfully I do have Friday off so I can look forward to that.
