A weight loss thread with no boring diet info

Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

Morning all.

Sending good vibes to those facing challenges at the moment. Hopefully it's a temporary state of affairs.

AcornAutumn · 11/03/2021 10:56

Gwen, thank you

Long, it's good to have options

MrsBob, sorry to hear that.

Thanks to all for kind words. I am annoyed with myself because my healthier eating attempt was really silly. I have eaten more because of it.

The main thing was that everyday, I normally have yogurt with protein powder and decided that was bad. I've now realised it was playing a key part in keeping me full and replacing it with chicken or fish just wasn't right for me.

Anyway...onwards!

Feeling better
Often with meds this means a corner has been turned...fingers crossed.

I must stop going on other weight loss threads. Third time now I've asked if the person who is struggling is actually overweight...answer is no.

Thanks @longestlurkerever I have made some progress today. I usually end up back at the beginning with these things because 'computer says no' but I managing my emotions by choosing to believe it all leads somewhere!

Well done on going out for your run and staying anchored down - very windy today!

@AcornAutumn I know what you mean - my favourite was the woman who had dropped from a size 10 to a size 6 which to my jealous ears sounded like something I'd rather not know Grin

I am having fish cakes and salad tonight and I am really looking forward to the beetroot...it is something I have grown to love as an adult but thought was disgusting as a child!

AcornAutumn · 11/03/2021 18:05

MrsBob I didn't mind that thread at all, she was clearly just saying "look at me and my abs". I'm always happy to admire 😂

It's the ones who are mystified that they're not losing weight and turn out not to be overweight, I end up there looking for tips and then find out it's a sham thread, so to speak.

I wish I liked beetroot, it's meant to be very good for you.

Plus I should keep away because of the details.

I don't know what I'm expecting to find and many people do maintain a normal weight by being..normal!

It turns out fresh beetroot is quite nice. Roasted or steamed. It comes in my bet box most weeks so I've had to get used to it. Had soup for lunch today and felt a bit hungry this afternoon but decided to live with it and wait for tea. Was zoom leaving drinks for someone though so I had a nanny state which in some ways feels like pointless calories but in other ways I can use it to trick myself into feeling like I've had a proper drink.

AcornAutumn · 11/03/2021 18:18

long a nanny state?

The last cocktail I had out in the world was called Old Square 😂

longestlurkerever · 11/03/2021 19:13

Nanny state is fake beer. The nicest on the market imo

Hilarious but tragically true.

Apparently Old Square was from the French which probably sounds a lot posher!

My dh gave up alcohol two years ago (very pleased about that he did awesome) and really got into non-alcoholic beers, sort of replacing one addiction with another. I actually googled if it is possible to become a 'non-alcoholic' 😂

That was one good thing about the very strict eating plan that came in recently because the NA beers went out the window presumably because they contain sugar.

@longestlurkerever I have never actually cooked a beetroot, just bought pack ones. I'm going to give it a go.

How is everyone today? I made two cakes yesterday for the kids (one chocolate for middle son and a Victoria sponge for the other two fussy little wotsits!) but managed not to eat any. There may have been a bit of bowl licking...

AcornAutumn · 12/03/2021 11:02

I think I am getting better from the med change, I did an easy workout last night.

Very bloated and headachy though. Meh.

Having a rest day from running but went for a walk with a friend. Went to the lovely posh bakeries in Highgate but I stick to coffee. Dh just brought me crisps to my desk, the enabler, bit I haven't opened them yet

AcornAutumn · 12/03/2021 11:31

Oh I love Highgate!! Has anyone moved into George's yet?

Does everyone already know the Chicken Ghost legend? My favourite bit of London lore.

OP posts:
longestlurkerever · 12/03/2021 13:31

I do not know about the chicken ghost! Highgate station is where my run ends up. You have to walk up from there to Highgate proper

AcornAutumn · 12/03/2021 14:19

Oh, I love the walk from the station to the main drag. Just love it. That's on my list when things open.

Ta da - ghost chicken. I like to think if I went at night, I'd see George Michael and the ghost chicken hanging out.

Weighed in early this week

Another pound gone, phew.

Well done Acorn!

Long bringing crisps to your desk, I call sabotage!

I have put on a pound. I hate dieting Sad

longestlurkerever · 13/03/2021 18:17

I can report I returned them to the cupboard! But did have takeaway curry oops, though made it last two days. Have done my run, big tidy ups of girls' rooms and my study and done a first draft of application so quite productive but feeling a bit grumpy for some reason. Probably hormones. Have not weighed myself.

Sorry you feel grumpy. I tried to find a funnier chicken but i'm rubbish at finding these things.

MrsBob how is the plant planning?

Morning all. A teeny bit of weight lost here, but I’ve lost what I put back on the other week.
Been eating fairly badly. Argh. I just can’t get my head in the game, I have these ‘absences’ where suddenly I’ve eaten a packet of biscuits.

AcornAutumn · 14/03/2021 10:30

Gwen good that you lost

One reason I get annoyed with slow loss is it hard to know what's real and what could be water gain or loss etc.

Looked at a new workout programme yesterday but have to be realistic - too hard. I hate saying that but at some point you have to be honest with yourself.
