A weight loss thread with no boring diet info

Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

Well done Gwen!

I spent the night randomly bidding on clothes on ebay, which I know is a massive mistake and its not like you can return stuff.

Oh, and eating cheese, so much cheese. Still dont have a handle on my appetite.

AcornAutumn · 25/01/2021 11:07

Oh you're still here!

I spent yesterday comfort eating so I didn't weigh myself today. Jest I also spent ages on ebay and Etsy.

Well done Gwen.

Acorn, did you get anything nice, or just browsing? Etsy is tresure trove. Always happy with what I get there.

Hit and miss with ebay, but mostly miss for me.

AcornAutumn · 25/01/2021 18:06

Jest no, just browsing

I like looking at artwork mostly.

I like Etsy for jewellery. I’m also looking for a large killim type rug on there, but that doesn’t really square with my resolution to not spend any non-essential money. Smile

GwendolineWindowlene · 26/01/2021 10:32

Terrible grammar there. Blush I meant, not to spend money on non-essential items.

InJest · 26/01/2021 15:44

I'm definately an enabler when it comes to home furnishings Gwen. I'll try not to talk you into it.

I'm still eating too much. Cravings for cheese, popcorn, and chocolate are fierce. All of these are now on the no-buy list. My appetite usually resets by now. Guess this is the price for yo-yoing over decades, my body must think a normal amount of food is a famine.

All quiet otherwise. Fallen into another lull, hopefully not for too long this time.

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 26/01/2021 19:23

Good day for me. I had to go shopping and spent a few minutes gazing at the crisps, but didn't buy any.

We had the most amazing tomato red sunrise this morning.

InJest · 27/01/2021 09:45

Well done for walking away from the crisps Holly.

I ate the last of the cheese, so we'll see what craving gnaws at me tonight. I'm not shopping for food until Friday.

0.7lbs down this week. This really is slow going. I know slow wins the race, but I have to speed this up. I gained so much so fast, I cant bear to see people at this weight. When the world opens up I dont want to be hiding at home feeling ashamed.

GwendolineWindowlene · 28/01/2021 08:37

Morning all. Well done for crisp avoidance Holly.

I need to speed up too, InJest. I’m eating less than when I was at my worst (whole packet of biscuits a day type eating) but plenty of junk is still going in.

AcornAutumn · 28/01/2021 13:37

Nice to see this thread is still going.

It sounds like we are all on the r

Oops

Right track

Which is good.

I have to do a big food shop ton

OP posts:
AcornAutumn · 28/01/2021 13:40

Argh

Tonight

But then I hope to avoid it for a while, so no junk.

OP posts:
InJest · 29/01/2021 10:30

How did the food shop go Acorn? Did you avoid temptation?

AcornAutumn · 29/01/2021 10:48

I didn't completely avoid it....but I have limited it.

I was going to the supermarket out of sheer boredom but now I have signed up for some online courses - finance - so I feel much better and less likely to wander to the shop out of boredom.

In normal times, it's a chore I avoid as much as possible so hopefully back to that.

Oh my god, I've been scammed

I feel a right idiot.

Oh no! I have heard of those but didn’t know they were dodgy :(

SingToTheSky · 29/01/2021 13:24

Had an ok start to the week but feel absolutely shit now, DH has had to order a covid test so I’m anxious on top of the fatigue/aches (which are fairly frequent for me anyway but obv I am now overthinking that it’s a virus)

AcornAutumn · 29/01/2021 13:46

Sing I hope you and DH feel better asap.

OP posts:
GwendolineWindowlene · 29/01/2021 14:42

Oh no Acorn! Can you get your money back? Was it a lot?

Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish, Sing, hope things improve soon.

I'm feeling like a bit of a sham even being on this thread, I've not only fallen off the weight loss wagon, I've also eaten it. Blush

SingToTheSky · 29/01/2021 14:43

S’ok gwen I’m still heavier than 1st jan.

So bloody hard to get motivated

AcornAutumn · 29/01/2021 14:55

Gwen* Sing don't worry

I think we can help each other get back on the wagon.

Even if it's just a bit of work on mindset, it might help things click into place later.

Have I been too rigid about no diet stuff? Would you prefer to talk about that?

Re the courses, luckily I went on a free trial. I did have to give credit card details though.

I realised it was a scam when I tried to get a better look at the content. I think it's tyere but behind tons of advertising. Then I googled for reviews, which I don't usually do but I also never tried an online course before.

In order to cancel, you have to call and listen to endless junk but they confirmed via automated voice eventually, I have emailed to ask for written confirmation.

I feel a right plum.

Just another rant about the day

I saved an article to read at a quiet time. I think there might have been some interesting content but it was so poorly written, with punctuation in all kinds of strange places, I gave up on it.

I have a great sense of that itchy, scratchy irritability that makes dieting even harder. Does anyone else get this?

OP posts:
InJest · 29/01/2021 18:52

I have a great sense of that itchy, scratchy irritability that makes dieting even harder. Agree with you so much Acorn.

My day derails over next to nothing. Things that would wash right over now irritate the life out of me.

Sorry you've had a crap day.

AcornAutumn · 29/01/2021 19:24

Jest thank you

Tbh in my case I know what some of the causes are, and I am a bit rubbish at tackling the ones that have solutions. It's partly why I want to take a holistic approach to weight loss this time. Sadly it's not the first time I've had to tackle my weight!
