Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

Gwendoline there is one near Homebase I'll check it out thanks Smile.
Im doing good with my eating, but have stopped weighing myself, the scales said I had put 2lbs on when I felt I had lost so DH tried and they said he had lost 9lbs overnightHmm.
DD made cookies yesterday and I had a tiny piece to try them, oh sweet sugar! I could have stood and ate all of them. I had a drink of water instead 🙄😁

GwendolineWindowlene · 22/01/2021 10:48

Hmm. I haven’t been single for a while, so I could see me going for Zoom dating and getting all over-invested.
Definitely meeting in person for a socially distanced walk is better.
On another note, it’s a positive that he’s asked you out at a time when you don’t look your best. He will be wowed by your fabulousness by the time you actually date in person!

Cocolapew · 22/01/2021 10:52

Id try for a walk too InJest, personally I'd find it easier to talk.
The only experience of Zoom is we 've been having union meetings on it and nobody looks like themselves Grin. I spend the whole time looking at myself and deciding what plastic surgery I need.
Our lockdown was extended to march 5th yesterday Sad

Cocolapew · 22/01/2021 10:52

Saying that I haven't been single for 26 years so I'm a bit old school Grin

AcornAutumn · 22/01/2021 11:05

We're all busy and going for it, which is great.

coca I can't tell if you are trying to match the top green or the bottom green? Btw the headaches could be jaw clenching. I had that. i can post a link to some youtube massage exercises but there's as astonishingly high level of cheesiness to the clip.

jest what is a zz plant?

OP posts:
Cocolapew · 22/01/2021 11:11

The green on the wall to the strip Acorn.

Cocolapew · 22/01/2021 11:11

I think its out of the top 3

InJest · 22/01/2021 11:12

@Cocolapew Well done subbing water for cookies, thats positively saintly behaviour. And your scales are definately broken. Ignore them.

I spend the whole time looking at myself and deciding what plastic surgery I need. Grin Me too!

@GwendolineWindowlene Yes, I fear i'll be over invested too. I'm scared there will be expectations because of time invested, and then we'll meet and one of us will not be interested, and it'll be like a breakup and not a first date at all. But I have waaay too much time on my hands to overthink this into oblivion, so I realise i'm being crazy person.

We live either side of London, and neither of us have a car, because London, so one of us will need to get the tube, and that's not allowed for now. So I think even a walk is delayed until we're in tier 3.

@AcornAutumn It's a zamioculcas zamiifoliathis and mine thrives on being ignored. I mist it a bit, i've maybe watered it once. I havent fed it yet though, so thats a danger point.

AcornAutumn · 22/01/2021 11:22

Oh, sorry I meant the top or bottom green on the wall. On my ipad, it's got a distinct shadow!

Zz plant is pretty. If I manage not to kill this one, I might get one of those.

OP posts:
AcornAutumn · 22/01/2021 21:57

I looked up the plant
It's easy care apparently!

Today I will be coveting this

www.qvcuk.com/product.401348.html?sc=PRODFEED

I dream of having a home gym with cross trainer, rowing machine, and this. And an infinity pool.

Very sunny so nice lunchtime walk, didn't do any other exercise but I gather the weather will be grim the next few days so it will be all indoor workouts.

Ooh I like the reformer Acorn. Is it a possibility, or is space the issue? Your home gym plan sounds fab. Hope it happens for you.

Today I got 'play' and 'listen'. I'm going to listen to the next episode of that podcast I started and i'd love to play frizbee in the park, but guess thats not allowed, so i'll have to think of something else.

For exercise I got yoga, so at least thats a nice gentle lead into doing some exercise.

I have to admit, eating less and with a plan means less fridge and cupboard jenga. Opening cupboards that arent stuffed full feels good. And less temptation.

AcornAutumn · 23/01/2021 11:52

Jest "Ooh I like the reformer Acorn. Is it a possibility, or is space the issue? Your home gym plan sounds fab. Hope it happens for you. "

No, my flat is tiny, I thought I was complaining about it too much but clearly not 😂

It's very small and drives me up the wall at the best of times. When I bought it, I had two jobs so I was never here. But property prices outstripped my earnings so much, I never dreamed I'd be approaching 45 and still stuck. Not helped by the elder care issues.

Though at the moment, being legally permitted to do care visits for mum means I'm able to spend time in a house and garden. She always asks me, why are you constantly dashing round the house?

It's because it's lovely to be able to!

I might make a "house scrapbook" while there's all this indoors.

Off to mum's shortly, see if the snowdrops have come up.

I am supposed to do a short workout when I get back!

Isn't frisbee alone in the park legal? It must be...?

Afternoon everyone, I'd love a treadmill Acorn but have no room in this bloody house for anything.
Went for 4 mile walk with DD and DH but tbh I wanted to walk a bit quicker than we did. That wasn't possible because DH has COPD and was bit breathless. He kept saying you go on but I didn't want to abandon him Grin.
Lovely and sunny here but it's baltic ❄️

GwendolineWindowlene · 23/01/2021 17:11

I’d love a treadmill too, I like the idea of being able to run even if the weather is bad.

AcornAutumn · 23/01/2021 18:06

Everyone dreams of home gyms! I can't use a treadmill, moving surfaces and I do not mix well!

Back from mum's, she's pretty down today, understandably. It's a lovely walk from the station but freezing! And joggers flew by in vests and shorts. mum and I look at them mournfully thinking, why can't we be like that?!

I am looking for some comedy to watch, any ideas? I'm going to try Schitt's Creek this evening. I loved Emily in Paris - utterly ridiculous but realistic in some ways and very silly-funny which I liked.

Still have to watch Queen's Gambit, maybe tomorrow.

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 23/01/2021 18:56

I’ve not heard of Emily in Paris, I’ll add it to the list! I recently watched schitts creek and found it funny, I also love modern family and community. Trying to mix it up a bit and only watch one season at a time so not sure what to try next.

I’d love some fitness equipment if our house was bigger, we have an exercise bike though. If space and money were no object I’d have a treadmill, rowing machine and cross trainer :o

Must order my medicine ball instead.

Still feeling a bit wobbly today having been ill yesterday and only had a slow walk today rather than any other exercise. Glad I got out of the house though.

AcornAutumn · 23/01/2021 19:09

Sing glad you feel better but I always think if you feel wobbly, more rest is in order.

Well, that was a waste of time for me....

Practically the first thing in Schitt's Creek is a lawyer calling "children" "dependents". I look at the actors thinking, what? The guy at least must be 40, how can he be a legal dependent?

Look it up and see they are meant to be in their 20s and the show is clearly not for me - spoiled adults...nah. So I won't carry on but wondering what a dependent is in US law?

There must be some good comedy out there? Emily in Paris is probably as modern as I get, so maybe something older?

OP posts:
Cocolapew · 23/01/2021 21:08

I love Schitts Creek, I didn't like it the first time either but I'm on series 3 now. I like the characters they aren't brattish in anyway. I was very surprised to find out their ages.
If you don't mind offensive comedy Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia is great.
Glad you're feeling a bit better Sing.

AcornAutumn · 24/01/2021 11:53

hope everyone is doing well

Just to say, I don't think I'll be around for a while. MN is really not doing me any good right now. And it's very car crash - I come here to post and then struggle to stop myself looking at other things.

If the thread keeps going, I will pop in and say hello but otherwise, thanks for joining me!

SingToTheSky · 24/01/2021 14:33

Aw acorn we will miss our friendly host! Hope some time out does you good, I know what you mean about most of MN though.

Done fuck all today 😳

GwendolineWindowlene · 24/01/2021 15:28

Thanks for your hospitality so far Acorn, hopefully we’ll see you back at some point, we’ll keep your dinner in the oven.

Decorating and walking about in the snow for me today.

Cocolapew · 24/01/2021 15:35

I went for a walk in the snow this morning and slipped 3 times. I didn't fall but only because I grabbed hold of fences Blush.

InJest · 24/01/2021 20:03

Look after yourself Acorn, you'll be missed.

GwendolineWindowlene · 25/01/2021 09:34

I'm just back from a lovely 5k frosty walk.

And yes! I weigh less than I did on Friday!

How is everyone doing?
