A weight loss thread with no boring diet info

Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

Coco are you feeling better now, I do hope so.

Upsetting the balance can be confusing for your body.

John same here. Not sure I'll do much after work but I am due a workout, which I might need to do to warm up!!

Much better now thanks, I had a lie down on my spiky mat in the dark and had a wee nap Grin

IHateCoronavirus · 12/01/2021 19:40

Hi everyone, well done on the losses Wine
Welcome to the new peeps. I am very inspired by how active you all are.

Sorry I have been awol, I am engrossed in the joys of having the DC studying from home. Youngest DC is 4 and a snuggly limpet who could dawdle for Britain. I have suddenly found my self taking long post wee pauses just to get a minute to myself.

I managed my daily step count today but the two previous days have been shocking.

Didn’t weigh myself on Sunday as I was awaiting AF. I’m considering doing it in the morning instead Blush If I can build up the courage.

AcornAutumn · 12/01/2021 20:24

Done my workout

Don't think there'll be any keyboard tonight

Trying to finish Literary Potato but finding it boring now.

I’m still reading the Rosie result which I’m enjoying but I might start another book as I saw the film version on iPlayer (it’s called the Wife) but it’s only available for a few more weeks.

I have started one of many psychology courses on futurelearn as I’m starting my degree in October hopefully and I figured this would refresh my memory a bit. Keeping me busy!

AcornAutumn · 13/01/2021 10:28

Morning all

Officially gave up on Literary Potato!

Lots of work today but have planned a bit better so should have some keyboard time too.

Morning! I did my Wednesday weigh in and it was not good people...I had a terrible time with scotch pancakes and croissants over the weekend and yesterday there was a biscotti incident that I don't really want to talk about Sad

I have loads on at the mo with homeschooling three kids (2 who really struggle with learning anything) and am doing a fostering course online for the next three weeks so feel a bit broken. I haven't sewn anything for 3 weeks and I'm yearning for the comforting click click of the machine making nice straight clean lines in the fabric.

Well done everyone for the exercise and losses. Am off to Joe Wicks it with my youngest!

SingToTheSky · 13/01/2021 12:11

MrsBob you’re dealing with a lot, be kind to yourself! I gained a bit on Monday too. Gutted. But I just have to keep making good decisions when I can.

Very cool about your course! That’s such a rewarding thing to do 💐

Cocolapew · 13/01/2021 12:23

I haven't gained but haven't lost either but have 7lbs off in 2 weeks. Definitely coming off no carbs but will carry on being sensible.
DH is off today to went went for a long walk down the street and are home drenched to the skin I enjoyed it though. He's now watching an Iron Maiden documentary so I might stick my headphones on Grin

GwendolineWindowlene · 13/01/2021 13:43

I’ve just had an unedifying moment with an entire pack of liquorice allsorts. Blush

In my defence, it’s my second day of no Diet Coke, and it feels like my brain is trying to escape via my eye sockets.

Cocolapew · 13/01/2021 13:58

OhhI feel your pain Gwendoline I've given up Diet Coke too and my life no longer has any meaning 😢

GwendolineWindowlene · 13/01/2021 14:34

I've just taken two paracetamol and am bravely carrying on.

AcornAutumn · 13/01/2021 14:43

Take heart....my sister gave up Diet Coke. It can be done!

I'm having a very busy active but stupidly hungry day today.

I am a month and a half into no Diet Coke and I feel transformed. You can do it!

I had a slight loss this morning which means I have now hit the 10kg Mark (22lbs ish) I’m a third of the way there.

Mentally shattered and trying to work myself up for a walk in the rain 🤦‍♀️

GwendolineWindowlene · 13/01/2021 16:26

Transformed how, IHate? I have given it up before, whilst eating better and running a lot. I remember feeling thinner, but I'm not sure I felt better! Grin I'm hoping it will help me sleep better and feel less anxious.

22lb! That's amazing, well done!

Cocolapew · 13/01/2021 16:27

I did give it up before for 6 weeks but then weaned myself back on it, it really makes me pee though so I need to stop 🙄
How do you feel tranformed Ihate?

SingToTheSky · 13/01/2021 16:43

I lost 1st10lb in about 3 months when I cut right back on Pepsi Max. I didn’t completely give up but stopped buying bottles and cans at home. I just would have it on tap (which I realised I much preferred) in a pub with ice and really enjoy it. I was just drinking it mindlessly before TBH. I still keep it fairly minimal and just have the odd can of that or Dr Pepper. Almost got hooked on it again last term though, it’s scary how quickly I can build up the caffeine cravings!

IHateCoronavirus · 13/01/2021 18:08

Re: diet cola. I was mega addicted I could easily drink a 1-2l a day. Blush
Now I am sleeping better, but also feel more balanced regarding cravings, so eating less. My teeth feel better (less sensitive) and I feel less puffy. I can’t be sure but I do partially blame my cola addiction for the shitty state my joins are in.

Cocolapew · 13/01/2021 18:18

Thanks for the info, I was drinking about 4 cans a day, I'm going to try not to fall back into the habit.

AcornAutumn · 13/01/2021 19:41

I must clarify, my sister was on 1 or 2 cans a day.

I fell asleep at 6pm after work. Blush

GinnieHempstock · 13/01/2021 19:45

Evening all. It’s interesting hearing about your coke stories. I only like one fizzy drink - champagne Grin - so that isn’t one of my addictions. I could mainline black coffee, though, if I didn’t keep it under control. I try to limit to 3 a day, or 4 if I’m having a particularly shitty day. Also drink lots of water, so spend a good portion of my day in the loo.

The exercise bike we ordered is being delivered tomorrow, so I’m very excited about another means of exercising, especially one that doesn’t involve me having to go outside in the cold.

@MrsBobDylan I agree with @SingToTheSky, you have a lot going on, so be kind to yourself. I firmly believe that if you aren’t kind to yourself, you can’t lose weight or do whatever it is you wish to do to make life better. Even if it’s just half an hour, we all need a bit of time for self care. Although sometimes easier said than done.

AcornAutumn · 13/01/2021 22:20

A scary moment

I could seriously go to the shop right now to buy some cake...help!

OP posts:
GwendolineWindowlene · 13/01/2021 22:30

Oh no! Did you go? If not, can you distract yourself? Go to bed early?

AcornAutumn · 13/01/2021 22:34

It's okay

I have had a bit of Amaretto but it's better than buying a cake. Shop closes at 11 and is literally round the corner but I'm going to watch The Crown now.

Crisis averted!
