Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

Happy birthday @redfernsydney !

@AcornAutumn treble clef is generally what you play with the right hand and is in the top of the two staves. Bass clef looks like a curly backward c with 2 dots after and would usually be played with the left hand.

So glad it’s Friday! Today is a better day so far though Smile. Really looking forward to doing some exercise later this afternoon and some more yoga before bed - it’s helping me sleep so much better!

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 12:00

squidgy so you think your right hand stuff you remember?

I'm also looking forward to my workout, I don't know why I lost enthusiasm yesterday.

Lockdown weight to shift. OH is doing it with me which helps. Out for a walk regularly thanks to puppy, eating 1 delicious chocolate a night which I so enjoy and just being more sensible with meals and snacks. Still got a lot of Christmas cheese though!!

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 12:06

hbai will we get puppy pics? 😍

I haven’t left the house today 😳 but I’ve kept very busy looking into studying. Phoned the OU to find out about continuing with them after a nine year break! Exciting!

I’ve started to realise lately that I have less time and energy to do stuff because I’m doing too little. I’m not motivated because I’m stagnating. Hoping this will finally get me feeling good about myself again.

And when lockdown ends I can do my studying in the library, and walk there. Maybe go via the gym after :o

IHateCoronavirus · 08/01/2021 20:31

Happy birthday redfernsydney
SingToTheSky your plan sounds very exciting. Something to look forward to.
I agree with Acorn, hbai puppy pictures are a must!
It has been an odd day here. DD and I both have some sort of stomach bug Sad nothing coming out but both of us have a burning pain between the ribs! Ihatecoronabudgie has kept us entertained swinging on it’s new cage top swing though so all is well Grin

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 21:01

Sing that's partly why I started keyboard now instead of waiting for lesson

IHate that sounds more like acid or trapped wind or something?

I'm really tired again, workout was a battle.

Happy birthday @redfernsydney

Been for a run today. Managed pretty well but it makes me hungry! Made a big pot of soup and a low fat Thai curry for dinner, hoping that my portion sizes are ok. Having good food for my main meals keeps me on track, hope everyone else is getting on ok!

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 22:32

I keep meaning to make soup

So tired, heading for early bed. Hope it actually works, it never usually works for me!

Sleep tight acorn.

My soup is 4 ingredients. Super easy.
Chopped onion
Some carrots (don’t bother peeling)
Red split lentils (about a cup)
Stock cube. Boil for 20 mins and blend. Lovely :)

redfernsydney · 09/01/2021 08:30

Morning all.,Thank you for the birthday wishes!

@SingToTheSky. I feel exactly as you..The less I do , the less I want to do. I need to find something!

@Cantdoitallperfectly. last year my new years resolution was to do park run on xmas day..I started off well..But then March lockdown came and I swapped running for either a walk or cycle with the family. .plus obviously park run xmas day didn't happen. .how long have you been running?

Cantdoitallperfectly · 09/01/2021 09:50

I’ve been for 3 runs this year and managed about 5k, I was a serious runner till I had kids 9 years ago (marathons/10ks) and since kids it’s been very sporadic. During lockdown I managed to get out every day during the first few months as DP was at home more and I got quite fit again, then it just all fell by the wayside. I’m taking it slowly again and walking when I get tired and then running gently, I know how quickly fitness improves with just a few weeks of effort so I’m trying to stick to it. It’ll be tricky trying to fit it in when homeschooling starts next week and DP and I are back to work.

I will start again in the spring...I loved getting up early and doing it.....I live next to a field and was just running round that. .It was beautiful in the early morning ..before anyone else came!

At some point they will build houses on it, I have no doubt

GwendolineWindowlene · 09/01/2021 12:09

Morning all. A 7k walk this morning, toasty in my clothes but with a freezing face, lovely. I really feel like walking is becoming a habit, which is great.
My weight has finally got below what it was 1 week before Christmas, so I’m pleased with that.
I may push on with the decorating later, or I may sit on my arse and watch back to back Marvel movies with DP and DD.

IHateCoronavirus · 09/01/2021 13:51

I love that everyone has been getting out enjoying the cool but fresh air. Well done everyone!
I took DC for a long walk this morning and got my daily steps in before 11! Woohoo that’s a good feeling.
IHateCoronaBudgie was delighted to see us when we got back in and came out for a play. I’m sure it smiles. Anyone hazard a guess at what sex it might be? I’ve tried googling but I am baffled trying to match it up with the images.

Cocolapew · 09/01/2021 14:08

Me and Dh went for an hours walk today it was nice and sunny but I nearly went on my hoop on black ice.
Now going to lie on the sofa and read.

AcornAutumn · 09/01/2021 14:58

No idea how to judge the sex of a budgie! But so cute. S/he looks happy.

Glad people are enjoying walks. Still way too cold for me, taking mum out for vax was bad enough. 7k is what I like to do every other day in summer.

Planning to spend the afternoon retrying a piece of artwork that I totally ballsed up. Let's hope I don't balls it up again... Then I'm going to watch a film. Maybe Guernsey Literary Potato, as I like to call it. I've heard good things about it. Or Colette, or Queen's Gambit...

OP posts:
CatRamsey · 09/01/2021 15:12

Acorn the Queen's Gambit is amazing! I loved it and it made me want to learn chess which I have never ever played in my life. I downloaded an app and it was one of my new years resolutions to learn how to play but that one has kind of gone of the window!!

I've done a lot of walking this week which is good for me as I don't get out much. But I also have not been able to get out of the biscuit tin!!! 😬😬 I am definitely an all or nothing person, I thought I'd keep some plain biscuits in the house so I'm not totally restricting myself but instead I just stuff my face with them!

I'm weirdly excited to weigh Monday though, I just hope my walking has paid off even just a little. And even with the biscuits I'm not eating as much as I was over Christmas!

Love the budgie, so cute!!

redfernsydney · 09/01/2021 15:53

Wow. I need to get our and walk. ...@AcornAutumn I watched the guernsy film the other day and enjoyed it

@Cocolapew what are you reading.....I have just started dear reader by Cathy retzenbrink. .A book about books.,surprisingly good!

Cocolapew · 09/01/2021 16:03

The Fools Run by John Sandford, he's one of my favourite authours. It's an oldie but goodie Grin

Cantdoitallperfectly · 09/01/2021 16:45

Great that everyone has been out walking, I didn’t make it out for a run today, taking it easy and will do some yoga later. It’s a ploy to stay away from the wine!!! I think fresh air lifts the spirits and makes me less likely to overindulge with food.
