Is anyone planning on losing weight in 2021, but without following any specific diet?

I’ve tried low carb, plant based, GI diets, sugar free...the list goes on.

But i know that for me, I just need to eat better and move more. I can’t imagine the rest of my life without rice/chocolate etc, and if my weightloss is going to be sustainable, it can’t exclude any food groups.

So my plan is to just eat less unhealthy foods, and eat more veggies.
I’m starting today, but am aware that others may want to wait till new year, that’s fine.

Anyone else want to join me?

Well done on another good week everyone, whether that’s a loss or a maintain or even a gain
I am 10 stone 13lb today 🙂🙂🙂
Finally under the 11 stone mark which feels good, I am a little anxious that it will be hard to maintain without any exercise but I really need to rest my knee so might see it creep up but hopefully not.
I have lost 7lb overall now and starting to feel a difference in my clothes xx

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 30/04/2021 21:21

Well done to everyone on weight loss and other wins!

According to this morning's scales I have lost 3lb (disclaimer: that'll be 3lb over two weeks really as it was AF last week, and I haven't felt that great this week so haven't eaten much!) which obviously I am very pleased with Grin...

Total loss: 17.5lb
Number of people who have noticed: 0 Sad
Number of lb's still to lose: 32.5 Sad Sad

However, I am no longer obese, only overweight - makes me feel a bit better! DP is back to work Tuesday and I can start my workouts again, yippee. I will be thin in no time probably not

KihoBebiluPute · 01/05/2021 08:13

Congratulations on crossing the line away from obesity @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - that is brilliant! Tbh people probably have noticed but are unsure about the etiquette of mentioning it.

Congratulations to @Wejustdontknow too on your stoneiversary.

Good luck with the assignments @CosyAcorn and well done for maintaining existing weight - under that kind of work pressure I think I would be mainlining penguin biscuits and putting on pounds so you are doing fine.

Bookaholic73 · 01/05/2021 14:37

Good afternoon everyone…I’m hanging my head in shame.
I just disappeared off this thread and needless to say didn’t lose any weight.

Will you take me back?

I’m back on the wagon today, starting at 12st 9lbs.

I'm trying to work out now if anyone has possibly noticed @KihoBebiluPute. I'm still wearing the same old and crappy clothes on rotation so maybe not! Can't wait to be a bit thinner and fit into some smaller and less tatty clothes...

Welcome back @Bookaholic73

Bookaholic73 · 02/05/2021 06:53

Thanks @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

Yesterday I was really good, ate sensibly all day.
Today we are off out for a lovely long walk. Not sure where yet,

OP posts:
Wejustdontknow · 02/05/2021 08:04

Welcome back and hello @Bookaholic73 I hope you enjoy your walk today.
I’ve eaten a fair bit of junk these past couple of days so need to focus a bit more. I have found a couple of YouTube exercise videos I like the look of and will try whilst I can’t run to see if that helps me keep losing weight.
I have decided to treat myself this week so have booked in to get my lashes done for the first ever time tomorrow and today I am going to dye my hair and maybe paint my nails. I am also going to go buy some of that gradual tan moisturiser, I am sure if I put a bit of effort in I will want to stick to the diet to look good 🙂
The deadline for my final uni assignment is also creeping ever closer so I must chain myself to my desk for at least a couple of hours each day and start getting some words on paper 😬

Bookaholic73 · 02/05/2021 14:04

Thanks everyone.

Yes, had a lovely walk today. I’m shattered now though! Just about to have lunch (chicken salad) and then start some gardening.

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 02/05/2021 22:48

I use the self tan moisturiser @Wejustdontknow - takes me ages to tan naturally, a bit of help in the meantime makes me feel better Smile - you'll have to report back on whether the lashes were worth it!!

Hope all is going well again @Bookaholic73?

Took DS1 for a long walk today as DP was taking DS2 to visit PIL. DS1 said to me sadly "I wish Daddy would come out with us more, but he's too lazy" - well, I wasn't sure what the best reply was because DP is so lazy, and quite often just CBA doing anything with the DC! In the end I think I said something like "we'll have to encourage him more and let him see how fun it is to go for a walk or bike ride" as that's the mentality that I'd like them to have - exercise for enjoyment rather than because we feel like we should (admittedly I have to work on it myself sometimes too...!). Upping my activity levels is definitely helping me with weight loss, but DP is firmly welded to the sofa most weekends...

Wejustdontknow · 04/05/2021 19:07

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl the lashes were not worth it unfortunately. I paid £55 for lashes plus my eyebrows threaded and tinted. It’s the first time I’ve ever had my lashes done and don’t know if it’s just me or if they did them wrong but after just one night I’ve paid a further £10 to have them removed. They were very uncomfortable, almost painful especially when I closed my eyes. I am not sure what went wrong but I feel like something did as I can’t imagine people having them done if they always feel like mine did 😞 but I will live and learn and will be sticking to mascara from now on.
I am on af again this week, I had to change my pill a few months ago and now seem to be on a 22 day cycle which is frustrating. I’ve not exercised much and eaten quite a bit of rubbish. Weighed myself today and back up to 11 stone so going to start afresh tomorrow and try and get back into the 10’s for Friday 🤞

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 04/05/2021 22:03

Oh that's a shame @Wejustdontknow - maybe they put on too many/ made them a bit too long and uncomfortable? I haven't tried it myself although I do get my eyebrows done regularly (well, I did, when such things were allowed!), I'll stick with the mascara for now I think...

Had my hair cut over the weekend, was really fed up with it and had quite a lot cut off; my thinking was that it's only hair and if I don't like it it'll grow back soon anyway. DP doesn't like it but that's just a bonus Grin serves him right for never noticing when I only have a couple of inches cut off. I've been really hungry for the past few days and have eaten a bit too much, but as I had so much hair cut off that'll definitely have weighed more than a pound, right?! Hmm

A brand new mumsnet account just to spam a weightloss thread with an advert for a dodgy "product". These things always either (a) just don't work or (b) work by song serious damage to kidneys, liver or other organs. If they were genuinely scientifically proven to be effective and safe they would be readily available on the nhs. I have reported the post obviously.

KihoBebiluPute · 07/05/2021 10:45

Glad to see the spam is gone from our thread! (typo above "song"="doing" - I didn't have my glasses on)

Not a happy Friday weigh-in for me. I am exactly the same weight this morning as I was last Friday, having had an indulgent, overly calorific and somewhat inebriated Bank Holiday weekend followed by 3 days of desperately trying to undo the damage. Still, at least I am not any heavier, which was looking like a real possibility.

Exercise this week - Runs totalling 34km, Walks totalling 15km, Cycled 18km.

This weekend is not going to have any pub, restaurant or cafe visits and strictly no cake, so I am hopeful that I might have a better update next Friday.

LeftyLou · 07/05/2021 11:20

16th April: 13 stone 6.2
23rd April: 13 stone 5.5
30th April: 13 stone 5
7th May: 13 stone 3.3

I said about me going on a walk over the bank holiday but never actually did. Was that time of the month (sorry tmi) and really wasn't up to much. Although I did manage to go out for a pizza and drink with my partner. So was pleased with the half off.

Again this week my exercise hasn't been all that good. So will definitely need to start making more of an effort. Was really happy with the result this week. I am enjoying making pinch of nom recipes and allowing myself a small treat every now and again to help keep me on track.

Good luck with your journey @Bookaholic73 and a big thankyou for starting this thread Flowers

@KihoBebiluPute a stone since Christmas is fantastic Grin
The products people promote they probably don't even try themselves. I watch frumpyfit on YouTube and she talks a lot about how dangerous that kind of stuff is. She has some great videos too. Really like her stuff.

Good luck with your assignments @CosyAcorn. Hope all goes well. I think putting the weight loss/ diet to the back is a good thing when your time is preoccupied by other things. It will definitely work out itself Smile

Getting to the overnight category is a huge milestone @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. Congratulations on that Grin. That made me laugh about your partner not noticing your hair cut just because i feel men don't really tend to notice that kind of thing all that much. Hope you like your new hair. If it makes you feel nice think that is the most important thing.

Last week lost 0.5 and this week lost 1.7 making it a total of 2.9 lbs.

Sending happy friday vibes.

sittinghere · 07/05/2021 13:01

I've been lurking on this thread for weeks and would really like to join you. I've found the Friday weigh-ins showing how a little loss each week all adds up really inspirational.

I've been trying to eat less and exercise more (about to start week 4 of couch to 5k).

Here are my weigh ins so far
9 April 12 st 10 (heaviest ever)
16 April 12 st 8
23 April 12 st 6.5
30 April 12 st 6
7 May 12 st 3.5

I'd really like to be under 11 stone, but realistically 11 st 2 would look fine (I'm tall)

So total loss 6.5 pounds so far. I'm not sure it can all be real though - in theory it should only be 2 pounds (I've eaten 7000 calories less than I've used up, using my phone and Google fit to track calories spent).

Wejustdontknow · 07/05/2021 13:45

Well done everyone on your losses and welcome to the thread @sittinghere it looks like your doing really well so far.
I am 11 stone this week, up 1lb from last week. I will admit I have well and truly fell off the wagon this week and have eaten a share bag of minstrels for lunch for the last two days 😬 a mixture of a bad week, af and low will power but I am determined to move past it and get back into the frame of mind I was in previously. My aim is to be back under 11 stone by the next weigh in 🤞

KihoBebiluPute · 07/05/2021 14:14

Welcome to the thread @sittinghere and well done for making such a great start. Glad to hear you are on the c25k journey too.

Sorry to hear it's been a bad week @Wejustdontknow and remember #TodayIsDayOne - what would work for you as an ultra-low-cal snack to browse on instead of Minstrels? I really like raw chestnut closed-cup mushrooms and 2 or 3 little ones are a nice thing to munch on for less than 10 calories - but I know they aren't to everyone's taste.

Well done @LeftyLou too that's great progress!

Bookaholic73 · 07/05/2021 15:31

Afternoon All!

A good weigh in for me today, I lost 1lb.
So I’m now 12st 8lbs.
Only 2st to go Grin

2lb gain this week, 1 stone 3lbs loss overall.

Dropped off the grid completely this week. My kid was off school poorly and I had assignments to do. I just ate all the food and did no exercise.

But the kid is better and my assignments are done. Time to start trying again before I undo all my hard work!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

CosyAcorn · 10/05/2021 08:26

Happy Monday Everyone!

1lb has eased off since Friday's weigh in as a result of me dialing back the drinking and snacking.

Today I am starting exercising again. Going to have a little run straight after dropping DD off at school.

I imagine my body is going to be resistant to running but if I keep at it I know I will find it fun again 🤞

Wejustdontknow · 10/05/2021 09:44

Good morning, well done on the 1lb loss since Friday @CosyAcorn I hope you enjoy your run.
I am 11 stone 1lb today which isn’t surprising after the terrible week I had but I am feeling motivated and focused and determined to get to my goal weight so I am on it today. I have come back from the school run and done the Chloe Ting YouTube videos for abs and cardio and have a right sweat on 🥵 healthy eating all the way this week 🙂🤞
