Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

Had a lovely day today! Again a few snacks from DPs work gift however very much in moderation- only had 8 of the tortilla crisps (120 cals) the whole bag of candy kittens (184 cals) and 3/4 of the chocolate bar (124 cals) so not bad really! And by allowing myself a small amount of the treats when i want them i fingers crossed will carry on on this binge free streak :D got a takeout chicken gyros wrap for lunch which was so delicious, no idea on calories but I’ve estimated 830 with MFP as it had chips in and lots of sauce! It was so satisfying though and I wasn’t that hungry for dinner so just had a tiny bit of leftover mince from yesterday and a small chai latte!
I’ve burnt around 3200 calories today from lots of walking around (30000 steps) and eaten around 2350 so a good deficit again!

oops forgot to include an orange in my calorie count (not all of these but i snacked on a few while drying them out for Christmas decs!) also didn’t take a photo of leftovers as i literally ate out of the tupperwear box

Yay today I’ve managed not to snack! even though dinner was basically snacks in the form of about a 1/4 of a mini hotel chocolate dipping adventure plus dates/almonds/ fruits!

Breakfast- richmond vegan sausage, eggs and cheese bagel
Drink- chai latte
Lunch- battered haddock and mushy peas
Dinner- hotel chocolat

Not really sure on calories today, I estimated 815 for the fish and peas and 715 for the hotel chocolate and fruit, so total is about 2400 so pretty high but I’ll try and burn that amount and will try and carry on no snacking tomorrow too!

This morning i decided to have the food that inspired my username- fried banana 😂 it just tastes lovely and caramelised, just fried with frylight! Had with biscoff spread on toast!
Also had
Breakfast- mocha
Lunch- smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel
Snack- homemade veggie sausage roll!
Dinner- tuna quesadilla
Snack- bounce bar
Snack- mini hersheys (not pictured)

Eaten about 2100 cals and burnt around 2700!

I’m definitely taking pressure off myself to lose weight, and have decided to ditch the scales for a few weeks but still calorie count!

Been a bit worse with photos again but pretty sure I’ve logged accurately

Breakfast- gingerbread white mocha and toast plus a bit of extra bread not photographed, with lotus and raspberry jam
Snack- homemade veggie sausage roll
Snack- mini m&s chocolate muffin (so nice and only 112 cals each! i wasn’t tempted to have more than one either!)
Lunch- tuna salad with croutons, crispy onion and pizza express light dressing
Snack- m&s cinnamon and chocolate tortilla rolls (i loooove these- i actually had more than pictured but weighed them out and logged them each time!) and one mini tesco lebkuchen
Snack- blueberries
Snack- 16g caramelised nuts
Dinner- salmon, cous cous and veg parcel, bulked out with loads of mushrooms!

Total cals around 2200 and I’ll have burnt around 2600 by end of today!
I think definitely weighing the snacks when possible is helping me feel more control!

Good morning! I hope anyone reading had as good a Christmas as possible despite all the restrictions!!
Just posting this morning as a commitment to get back to it- I’ve had 4 days off tracking (i did still take photos most of the time) and have been very excessive but managed to keep fairly active (actually did a 5k run for first time in months yesterday), but I still think I’ll have probably managed a suplus of about 4000-8000?! (just no idea 😂) calories over the 4 days, but I enjoyed every day and every bite and ate mindfully (apart from yesterday when i made gingerbread and just ate soooo much of it and felt absolutely awful after 😂😂)
My resting heart rate has also gone from 54 the previous week to 64 today!?!? This also happened last Christmas so I’m wondering if my heart just gets a shock with all the extra intake? so weird! Does anyone else have this?

Anyway! This morning I’ve just had a mint mocha with oat milk (95 cals).

I’m going to take dog out, then might have an egg, veggie sausage and cheese bagel with salad for brunch, then off for quite a long walk, (will prob have a hot drink from somewhere!) and no idea what dinner will be but hopefully will manage to avoid the snacks!

I’ve also decided to post every time i eat something where poss, just to help with accountability! Didn’t have time for bagel in end so had a protein bounce ball!

lunch- richmond vegan sausages, 2 eggs and 30g cheese sandwich! Around 700 cals (bread quite thick so 300 cals on its own) but 46g protein so I’m feeling v satisfied and don’t feel like snacking at all :)

Feeling nice and satisfied after lots if veggies at dinner, eaten just under 2200 cals but will hopefully burn about 2700 by the end of today so a good deficit!
Also 4 pringles and a homemade tiny gingerbread house (yesterday i ate approx gingerbread so nice and restrained today 😂)

Just an extra 35 cals from 6g of biscoff spread microwaved as i felt like a snack! Feeling satisfied , although I am pretty hungry this evening! I guess prob because my body is used to a surplus recently 😂

I am tempted to do similar, I am starting a whole30 in January and last time I did one I photographed all my food, it was very inspiring and was good ammunition when people disapproved of it as it's seen as being very restrictive

Haha sorry if I majorly overshare! I guess it’s like my little rambly journal, but I find it way more motivating knowing that people may be reading, so I feel an obligation to keep documenting everything! And documenting really helps keep me sensible! Like the other day my thought process literally went like .. ‘well i coooould have that horrible looking oil smothered left over roast potato but the people on mumsnet may really judge me if I post a photo of that, so I won’t’ 😂 When I did the private instagram it just did not work at all! But don’t worry I ate a lot of left over roast pots on boxing day (when I wasn’t posting) because I hate food waste haha..

So last night I also had some popcorn, just a 35g pack, but felt like such a treat as it’s the nicest popcorn i’ve ever had! I had vowed not to eat anymore but I figured I would still be in a decent deficit and I wanted it sooo I had it! 🤷‍♀️

This morning has been very sandwich based- breakfast was a sausage sandwich with red onion chutney, mayo and ketchup, then I had a peppermint mocha (no photo) and lunch was a ridiculously tall sandwich with leftover turkey, red onion chutney, mashed chestnuts, crispy onions, mayo and ketchup because who wants to skimp on the things that make it taaaasty!

Also, I bravely stepped on the scales this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see I was only 8st 13.2, I feel like it could have been a lot worse 😂 so will hopefully be back to pre- Christmas weight in one or two weeks! I think it’s so easy to feel so guilty about all the extra cals at Christmas, but really you can just off set it in a couple of weeks! 🎄🎄

Your sandwiches look delicious. I've been bread free since July and I'm ok generally without it, but this Boxing Day I would have sold my soul for a delicious turkey and gammon sarnie with mayo.... Smile

Rest of today’s food-
Snack- cinnamon crunch fibre bar, microwaved with alpro soya custard and lotus spread (sorry for awful pic and I should deff have used a bowl)
Dinner- tortilla ‘pizza’ with smoked salmon, goats cheese, onion chutney and sundried tomato
Dessert- 200g melon and 50g orange with 2 stuffed dates (i realised I had like none of my five a day today as we’ve run out of lots of food so managed to get in 3 portions with this as 30g dates= a portion!)

Eaten around 2270 cals today (it really doesn’t feel like I have but it all just adds up i guess!) and will have burnt around 2600 so an ok deficit!

ok sooo i’ve had a few more snacks (1 hotel chocolate and 30g cookies & cream popcorn) taking me to 2480cals consumed so I’ll just be in a small deficit. But it’s ok, at least it’s not a surplus!! 👍

Phone was out of battery this morning so didn’t take photos, but I had a rather decadent white chocolate and biscoff mocha with squirty cream and crumbled biscoff! And one slice of toast with flora, biscoff spread and ginger and rhubard jam.. Plus this little gingerbread snowman! 530 cals so far. For lunch I’m planning a smoked salmon and scrambled egg croissant with salad, then dinner I’m going to make kung pu cauliflower! Trying to get my cooking mojo back- over summer I tried loads of new recipes and found it really fun but I’ve got into a major rut recently! But going to use my extra time over christmas to be a bit more adventurous again! Also going to try do more veggie/vegan dishes. Would love some nice dinner recipes if anyone fancies sharing!
