Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

thank you @Coconut80, dark choc a great idea! used to do that a lot but kind of got out of the habit, bought some more dark chocolate yesterday though so going to get back into the habit :) glad it’s going well for you! I’m mostly just aiming to have a deficit each day and stop the binges, aiming for a deficit of 500 a day on average, but sometimes i’ll have a tiny deficit and sometimes larger, just trying to focus on average over the week so give myself a bit of slack if i have a more lazy day (like today is a tiny deficit)
Was super snacky today! I didn’t plan food beforehand and finished work at 9 and was so hungry till then so kept grabbing quick snacks between zoom calls! Need to remember planning is key!
Breakfast- white choc gingerbread mocha and veggie sausage sandwich
Snack- stuffed date
Lunch- date and ginger scone from bakery toasted with flora, biscoff spread and ginger and rhubarb jam
Snack- stuffed date
Snack- biscoff cream biscuit
Snack- berries and dark choc square
Snack- toast with flora jam and biscoff
Dinner- scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and salad

Calories about 1950 today and I’ll have burnt 2050 so small deficit but at least it’s a deficit!!

today’s food
Breakfast- oat milk mocha and advent choc
Brunch (11am ish)- veggie sausage, egg and cheese bagel
Snacks- two florentines, lotus biscuit and mini hersheys
Non pictured snacks - 5g lotus spread and 4g dark choc
Snack- mini protein hot choc
Dinner- Tesco flatbread ovened then added smoked salmon for last couple mins- divine! and polenta fries

About 2300 cals burnt today and about 1650 consumed!

I’m loving bagels atm 😂 didn’t really have dinner as was out and about so i had a chai latte and a lemon cannoli (how much i love these! does anyone know where you can get them? today got one in a random cafe that’s not close to where i live, but haven’t seen one since i was in cornwall aaages ago!) then when i got home around 9.30 i wasn’t really hungry!
About 1900 calories consumed and 3150 burnt! Scales haven’t budged this week (in fact I was 8st 13.6 yesterday, +1.4 lbs from week before) but I’m just assuming that’s water retention and it should go down next week?

Quorn chicken nugget sandwich for dinner, and then a gingerbread white choc new york city cookie (baked from jane’s patisserie website) sooo good, they are 535 cals each as they are huuge but because they are sooo satisfying and i know the cals for one I just eat one whereas previously when i would bake i’d have zero control and eat like a whole tray of whatever it was which I’m sure is more than 535 cals 😂
Burnt about 2650 calories today and ate around 2450 so a 200 cal deficit which i’m happy with for a treatful day!

First time in a while that i’ve been in a big surplus (about 460!) as i’ve eaten around 2860 calories and burnt 2400, but I’m feeling fine about it as it’s just one day and tomorrow I’ll try get a decent deficit!

As well as all the photographed food i also had a Black forest hot chocolate from costa which is apparently 443 calories! Prob would have chosen something else if i’d realised but i enjoyed it!
No mindless eating except I really didn’t need that health bar at the end of the day (191 cals) i just wanted to try it as DP bought me it, then ended up eating if all!

Recently I’ve been logging all my calories at the end of the day (i probably wouldn’t have ordered takeaway if I’d realised I’d already eaten close to 2000 calories 😂) and kind of failing on the planning, I’m going to try and start logging main meal calories the night before again as I think I consumed less with that method!

This drink is a peppermint white hot chocolate (7g white choc grated, 100ml oat milk and 1/2 tablespoon monin peppermint syrup and oooooo it was goood!!! yes 2 hot chocs in a day plus a mocha is a bit extravagant 😂 but i was meeting a friend outside and needed warmed up!

Just realised in my cals i didn’t log the indian takeaway yellow dip- will need to add about 70 to my cal total now 😂

Had a much better day today and cancelled out yesterdays surplus :) However I have had a v low self esteem/body image day which usually ends up in me comfort eating but managed not to at least!

Breakfast- White choc mint mocha (used yesterday’s photo)
Lunch- Cheese, mushroom and onion omelette with polenta air fryer fries (seasoned with paprika and garlic). My omelette is a mess as my pans are not being cooperative atm :(
Snack- 2 aldi florentines
Snack- Toast with lotus spread, jam and flora
Snack, no photo- 14g orange dark chocolate
Dinner- left over tarka dall and a chapatti
Pudding- microwaved fibre bar with 7g lotus spread

Total cals about 1690 and I’m going to head out for a night dog walk so will hopefully manage at least 2600 calories burnt by end of today!

Cals today around 2150 (with 400 cals estimated for the lemon muffin and 280cals estimated for chai latte with oat milk) and around 2650 cals burnt today, happy with deficit!

Missed a few photos today
Breakfast- gingerbread mocha and cinnamon crunch (basically curiously cinnamon) with frothed heated milk - I never buy cereal anymore as it doesn’t fill me up at breakfast and i end up snacking loads on it and get through about 500g in 2 days? I do love it but i haven’t really missed it! But we bought an overpriced american cereal selection from B&m so I enjoyed a controlled portion 😂
Lunch- leftover chickpea and paneer curry with a chapatti (yesterday photo)
Snacks- 2 florentines, 4g dark choc and 1 biscoff cream
Snack- 1 slice toast with jam and peanut butter
Dinner- Pizza
Snacks- 5 jelly bean and 1 mini chocolate finger and a small chai latte!

Cals about 2150 and I’ll have burnt around 2350 so a small deficit but at least a deficit! I also did something that usually causes a lot of anxiety today, and i would normally eat to put off doing it? But i didn’t yay!

Pretttty excessive day today (i have no control over popcorn and was bought a 200g bag 😂 thankfully i didn’t eat all of it but I’d say about 125g?)
Total calories today are around 3200 and I’ve only burnt 2600 :/ so this week so far I’m only in about 300 cal deficit, however I’ll try and be better over next three days and perhaps finally go on a run! Even though I’ve consumed a lot today, I didn’t binge so I’m happy about that!

Much better day today! Quite a few snacks which I should maybe try cutting down on (not easy when DP is sent a snack box with so many yummy treats from work!) but ate around 1960 cals and after evening walk/ house work I should have burnt around 2800 so cancelled out my surplus yesterday :)

Breakfast- white choc gingerbread mocha
Lunch- smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel
Dessert- 10g biscoff spread microwaved with raspberries and 10g vegan squirty cream
Snack- small hersheys bar
Snack- one slice toast with biscoff spread, ginger jam and flora
Snack- marshmallow bar (so delicious and felt like an actual treat, not a diet thing, but only 79 cals, deff going to try and get more of these!)
Snack- about 5 grams of bbq corn snacks
Snack- vegan chocolate bar with peanut butter (again yummmm)
Dinner- burrito bowl with melted cheese and salad with crispy onions and pine nuts (actually love these salad bowl types of meals! i’m so passionate about not cutting out carbs anymore that I don’t often have them but actually I really enjoy the flavours!)
