Hi! So during the first lockdown, i set up an instagram where I posted photos of every single thing that entered my mouth except from tea, and it really did discourage pointless snacking as I’d pop into the kitchen for a random biscuit but then I couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of biscuit as phone was in the other room, then I realised I didn’t actually really need the biscuit and back it went! It was super effective for a while and along with MFP I lost about a stone, but then I started to follow other instagram account and got some followers back and felt pressure to make everything look pretty, which meant I stopped posting absolutely everything so started having random snacks again, and have now put back on a few pounds! I tried setting up a new private instagram but wasn’t really that motivated! So I’m starting again but instead hoping a mumsnet thread will help!? Anyone fancy joining?!

I’m for a calorie deficit of around 500 per day, so eating about 1750-2000 and burning 2250-2500 (i have a fitbit alta which estimates total calories burnt). I walk a lot (1.5-2 hours a day with dog plus i walk to work) but am going to try getting into running again too! Trying to not be too restrictive food-wise as I’m having problems overeating by quite a bit some days! (when I don’t track while eating and then add up after I can easily put away 4000 calories a day without realising Confused )
I’m currently about 9stone (havent checked for a bit so possibly more!) and aiming for about 8st4.
So yes, please do join and we can look at eachother’s non-instagram-able food! Halo

Ps. a tip I never knew about MFP which makes life sooo much easier, is you can click edit, and check all ingredients for a meal if you’re batch cooking for example, then do ‘save meal’! Saved sooo much time! But maybe everyone knew this already except from me Grin

Todays food for me:
Breakfast: banana bread muffin, microwaved with frozen berries, biscoff spread, 2 crumbled biscoff biscuits (fully recommended, tastes like berry crumble!), 200g greek yoghurt mixed with cinnamon, plus a small mocha ~ 508 cals
Lunch: chicken paella leftover ~ 410 cals
Snack at work: Almond bounce ball - 158 cals
Snack after work: mini hersheys bar plus 2 mini cinnamon biscuits - 78 cals
Dinner: Vegan burger with cheese, sweet pot fries and salad - 800 cals
Lots of tea with oat milk! - 44 cals
Total cals: ~ 1954

And finally protein hot choc as I’d barely had any protein today, and a biscoff cream! Total cals 1920 and by end of today I’ll have burnt around 2700, so I may have something else to eat like a biscoff crumble or some toast :)

Food so far today- white chocolate gingerbread mocha and advent calendar chocolate, veggie sausages, 2 eggs and 30g melted cheese in a bun and 2 chocolate florentines! Going to have a late lunch as working late so dinner will be late!

Lunch ended up kind of being a pudding cause that was what i was craving! It was a microwaved fibre birthday cake bar, 10g lotus spread, frozen berries, a crumbled biscoff biscuit and a frozen milky bar mousse (idea stollen from instagram- it tastes like white choc ice cream!) for 288 cals! Then I had 2 stuffed dates with white choc and almond butter and mini cinnamon biscuits (no photo as I made them super quickly between zoom calls), then meatballs and wholewheat pasta for dinner with parmesan :) Just under 2000 cals today and I won’t be in a big deficit at all today but the fact that I’m not in a surplus is a win for me!

Good morning! Breakfast was an egg and melted cheese muffin as I’d run out of sausages, but honestly I feel like the cheese makes it sooo much more satisfying and filling, for only around 100 extra cals! I crack the eggs into a pan with frylight, when the white is about to set, I break the yolks and spread around a bit, then grate 30g cheese onto one egg and put the other egg on top, until cheese melts! Sooo yum! I used to always be terrified of cheese (I’d literally go to a restaurant and order pizza without cheese!!) even though I love the taste, because I had this idea that it was ‘bad’ and would make me fat, and it’s only this year I’ve started eating it again! Soo glad I have as this kind of meal and quesadillas are my fave!

Weight has been fluctuating up a bit the last few days but today was 8st 12.2 , and the average for this week so far is about a lb down from last week, so I’m going to keep going with this kind of deficit and hope that it keeps going down! Still haven’t started running or any other exercise so if it does plateau I can always start that.. really don’t want to reduce food intake as I’m feeling so much happier atm with plenty of energy and no binge urges, but still going to bed with a hungry feeling i guess because i am in a deficit, so think it’s the right calorie aim for me and any lower would be hard for me atm!

Managed about a 50 cal deficit today as ate around 2300 cals which included indian takeaway and 3 florentines (only 1 pictured) . Lunch was tuna quesadilla and polenta fries in air fryer, and for takeaway I had half a tarka dall side portion (other half saved for tomorrow), chicken tikka starter, the yellow yughurty dip thing that i don’t know what is called but yummy, and a chapatti! Used to always get veggie stuffed parathas but went for chapatti as a lighter option! I’ve estimated 900 calories for this on MFP, weighed everything but obviously all still total estimates, but I do find it useful to weigh it as it helps me feel like I’m slightly more in control, as sometimes in the past i’ve ordered enough for next day too but then been like ‘oh well there’s not mich left may as well finish it’!

Today’s food so far- mocha, egg and cheese wholemeal muffin, deeelicious vegan date and walnut scone, no added sugar, from a cafe and a chai latte with oat milk (not sure on calories for the cafe food, reckon about 400 for the scone and 220 for the chai latte?) , then decided to have my leftover tarka dal from yesterday heated up, to warm up after a very rainy walk home!

Ordered some of those mousses to freeze! The Dahl looks nice, I might try it next time we have a take away with Roti.

Fell off the bandwagon today and ate lots of carbs at a restaurant. Will get back on track tomorrow.

Yes it’s lovely @Schummakker! Restaurant carbs sound lovely! very jel as we’re in tier 3! Hope you enjoyed them and didn’t feel guilty as there’s abso no need to feel guilty about eating food!
Tonight I made teriyaki salmon, but Dp didn’t eat all his and i’m so bad for finishing off peoples’ plates so I ended up eating an extra half portion which I didn’t really need, but not the end of the world! Ended today with a (very estimated) 2230 cals and burnt 2380, so a small deficit again :) Think tomorrow I’ll be burning more so will hopefully get a decent deficit!

Car snack- a percy pig
Dinner- chicken burger from a pizza shop (this was actually delicious even though it looks pretty crap- Dp wanted takeaway pizza after our afternoon walk but I wasn’t really feeling it so ordered a chicken burger- lovely chicken breast and nice and crispy, asked for it without mayo as I’m a bit scared of how much they put on and I don’t really miss it, but next time i’ll ask for ketchup instead!)

  • Also had a tiny bit of Dps pizza which I’ve estimated 50 cals for as was literally 2 bites
Snacks- 2 more dates (no photos) and 20g Hersheys choc 😄 About 2000 cals today (quite estimated because of chicken burger- I estimated 465? hopefully that’s not way off) and I think by end of today I’ll have burnt around 2500 so I’m happy to be in a decent deficit again after a few days of v small deficits!

Started Sunday off with a hot cinnamon swirl drizzled with 10g lotus spread and a gingerbread cappuccino! Again, this is something I would always want but never buy, even when i wasn’t trying to lose weight, as I’d just think it was too unhealthy, however at only 320 cals (380 with the lotus spread) it’s about the same as 3 diet cereal bars, which I would eat without question, and it brings me so much more joy! So yes, moral of the story is eat things which you enjoy! I think I’ve said this about 20 times on this thread haha but it’s such an important lesson I wish I’d learnt sooner 😂

Weighed 8st 11.6 this morning, yay! I haven’t been that low since early October! I’d now love to get back to my previous low of 8st 8.8 by the New Year, going to try not go crazy over Christmas and just carry on having enjoyable food in sensible portions throughout the season! We’re staying home too so I guess it’ll be a bit easier to control (every year for the past 7 years I’ve ended up eating 2 Christmas dinners on Christmas day due to visiting dps parents and my own, plus breakfast and supper and evening cheese and chocolates!! thinking about it I must’ve managed like 10000 calories in that one day surely?!? which is fine if you do do that as it won’t cause lasting damage, but I’m going to enjoy a slightly more sensible Christmas this year 😂 maybe a surplus of 1000 cals is a good aim, but tbh if i total anything under 4000 cals i’ll take that as a win compared with previous years!) So if anyone ends up feeling greedy at Christmas, i hope that makes you feel better 😂🎄

Sorry that my posts are so ranty/waffly/self indulgent I’m just enjoying venting all my food thoughts so no one irl has to listen 😂

Rest of food today-
Lunch- a veggie sausage sandwich with vegan black pudding, fried tomatoes, salad and beetroot and crispy onions
Snacks- 2 florentines
More snacks (went to kitchen in a stressed out/overwhelmed mood which normally results in stress eating as i think i’m trying to put off doing what I actually have to do.. but instead i reached for some nice berries and dark choc, yay!)
Dinner- Paneer and chickpea stuffed pancakes (this is a fave in our house and so quick and easy and low cal.. recipe here but i think the cals are way out on here, when i put everything into mfp it was about 550cal per portion)
had 200g greek yoghurt too to up the protein, and a bit of mango chutney

On about 1950 cals today and going to try and make sure i burn 2500 today after evening walk! Might have a small snack or hot chocolate later too!

Looks yum and ditto about Christmas day, totally forgivable and also with you on having the same cals on something enjoyable for same cals on three health bars. I’ve done this lots and it’s silly. So your reminders are useful to us.

Had roast lamb with mixed Mediterranean roasted veg and mashed parsnips for supper - always mean to post and always forget!

Complete photo fail today- I was sure I’d taken a photo of my packed lunch when i packed it but turns out not!
Anyway todays food:
Breakfast- gingerbread mocha and bounce ball when arrived at work
Lunch- smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, stuffed dates, berries and lindt truffle! (actually really look forward to my pack lunches especially when they include chocs!)
Snack- M&S yumnut (this was double chocolate, don’t rate as highly, the cookies and cream ones are amazing though!)
Another snack- bread with lotus, jam and spread
Another snack- small chai latte
Dinner- filled pasta with pesto, pine nuts and parmesan

Had about 2300 cals but still pretty hungry 😂 by end of today I’ll have burnt around 2800 though so a good deficit!

Really enjoying seeing all your photos. How much do you have to lose, roughly what calorie intake are you aiming for. I'm 5ft8 and 12 stone yikes aiming for 10.5. I'm on the vegan thread and sticking to 1500 on mfp OK so far. Do you have a sweet tooth, I'm trying to have squares of dark choc to satisfy mine. Good luck looks like you are doing great x
